    Allegro

Every so often a restaurant gets it. Allegro is one such restaurant. Many eateries can boast world-class service but few can deliver. Hospitality has become a lost art form to the point that most upscale restaurants place so much emphasis on their menu that they value pretence to show that their food can speak for itself, which in turn makes the guest feel like they are not, well, guests. Upon entering the large doors, my friend and I were welcomed by both the hostess and Maitre’d. We were quickly sent to our table next to the floor-to-ceiling windows that line the dining room. As soon as we sat down our waiter greeted us with a small glass of Prosecco as a welcome to the restaurant. The waiter explained the menu quickly, most likely due to his pride and excitement about the dishes rather than a hurry-up cue. My main entree of Pappardelle Villa Amalia was complimented as an excellent choice and we found out why it is quickly becoming famous in Atlanta for being as unique as it is gastronomically exceptional. The pasta was so fresh that it tasted as if it were made from scratch just minutes before our order was served with a tomato sauce with small rabbit meatballs and monkfish. The meatballs were spicy and made so much sense in the dish, although the monkfish seemed perhaps a bit out of place.
