Excellent food and great service

I highly recommend the restaurant at The Ellis Hotel. The new menu and chef are phenomenal...the dish options and tastes are so fresh and delicious. The flavor combination within the recipes is amazing. The service is great too. I will definitely be eating here again and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I also enjoyed the wine selection. Great restaurant.

2 hours of my life I wil never get back
by findley80 at Citysearch
This was the worst dining experience of my life, no exaggeration. We waited to be seated for 45 minutes and when we were sat our waiter was clearly overmatched. We could not get drinks, he would bring one and forget the others, it was awful. Appetizer was very bland. After two hours we were served our entrees and they were cold. We left before desert. When we complainedto the manager, he simply put his hands in the air and said, "what are you gonna do?". I will never go back here, none of the staff know what they are doing and the food is bland, overcooked, and apparently just sits in the back.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Service, food, parking
Worst experience downtown!!
by nooddle22 at Citysearch
This was probably the worst experience we've had at a restaraunt in Atlanta!!! We were there for almost three hours and still did not get our dessert, even though there was only one other table of people at that point. There were only two servers for Saturday evening dinner during restaraunt week. It was very hard for us to get drinks, the people next to us just went to the bar to get their drinks. When the entree finally came out, the salmon was burnt to a crisp on one side. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box and the portions were tiny. We were served drinks with dirty glasses (lipstick on the rim) and so was the table next to us. We got up and left before dessert even came and so did the table of strangers next to us. I would NEVER go there again.
- Cons: Bad service, Bad food, dirty glasses, overpriced
Worst Experience

By far the worst restaurant experience I've had. The service was unbelievably slow and there were only 2 tables occupied. The Manager was rude and unprofessional. As we voiced our complaints about waiting 2.5 hours for an entree and our drinks the manager walked away while we were talking. We went to the bar and to pick up our drinks after waiting 30 mins for the server to bring them. The service was so poor I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Do not waste your time or money on E. Street Grill.
- Pros: The balcony looked nice.
- Cons: Terrible service, incompetent management, bad food
Excellent Downtown Balcony View & Drinks!
by jaymaygm at Citysearch
We've found another very little gem, above Peachtree, with a cozy balcony, to watch our ever changing city go by. We just grabbed a drink here, and waited for rush hour to go by. The renovation of this very historic hotel, is just wonderful. My Dad worked here, while he was a student at Georgia Tech. Thank goodness another historic building has been revived. Hopefully the same will happen to the Macy's next door. They have a limited menu. New Southern, and from what we saw, looked wonderful. Next time, we will stay longer, and dine. Welcome to Downtown!
- Pros: Renovated Historic Hotel In Downtown Atlanta!
- Cons: Parking is A Hassel, Take Marta!
Cozy Romantic Spot :-)

Great Service and Food. The atmosphere is very cozy with the jazz music playing in the background from the satellite radio....Very relaxing. The menu is limited but the food is excellent.
- Pros: Ambience

Downtowners enjoy upscale southern bites perched above Peachtree Street in the renovated Ellis Hotel.

The Scene
Situated on the second story of the newly renovated historic Ellis Hotel the dining room offers a quiet retreat, and a fetching alternative to some of Atlanta's buzzier dining scenes. Warm, creamy tones in the fabric and furnishings contrast with the mahogany woods and silver accents. The extravagant oval chandelier and arched windows pair well with the sleek minimalist decor. Bar seating is intimate and a trifle snug, but it's an ideal place to unwind with a glass of wine and a nibble.
The Food
Although the menu is fairly simple (there are only four entree selections), the cuisine is deftly executed. A bit of southern soul emerges in each dish. Consider the pan fried corncakes (think southern pancake) wrapped in prosciutto and finished with a dollop of goat cheese. Best bite is the Georgia stuffed trout with crabmeat and lemon sage butter. Shrimp and grits in tomato chipotle butter have a pleasant kick. If you're snacking in the bar don't miss the beef sliders and the fried green and red tomato stacks with ranch dressing. Finish it all off with a fried peach pie.
