Worst Dining Experience In Atlanta
by jasonlgreene at Citysearch
I stopped by this past Saturday, without a reservation, and was immediately seated in the window. The place was half empty. Should have known something was wrong. Waiter dropped off menu, took Martini order, and app. order. Well, my app. arrived before my drink. Tried to find my waiter, to no avail. The 14.00 app. was four medium sized, very overcooked prawns, with just enough Aquaknox sauce to cover one shrimp. It tasted like canned tomato sauce. Finally the 49.00 stuffed lobster arrived, looked great. One bite, and the lobster meat fell off the fork. It was either undercooked, previously frozen, or possibly worse. Couldn't find waiter again. But I did catch the eye of a floor manager, but he was only doing table visits with parties of two or more. Finally got my 116.00 bill for one, and the waiter just put it on the table, without even a thank you. No thanks. My fine seafood dining will stay with Oceanaire and Atlanta Fish Company. Now I see why they are half full on a saturday night. I invite the manager, owner, etc. to contact me about this horrible experience. You have been warned.
- Pros: Stunning Restaurant!
- Cons: Terrible Food, Slow Service!
Good seafood place in heart of buckhead

Had dinner her a few months ago, and it was very good. Ordered the surf & turf which was nice because you could choose the type of turf you wanted. I chose the Filet, and the other person chose the cowboy ribeye. Both very very good.
The atmosphere was cool as its next door to bricktops in the Terminas Building so you definitely are bound to run into some wealthy and or famous folks when dining in this area. The nice thing about this restaurant was that even though it was very trendy and upscale, it was not overwhelming. It was peaceful to eat here and a good experience.
Our service was semi-sub-par as it was getting pretty crowded when we ordered. Our drink orders took upwards of 10 minutes to obtain and one time the server forgot to bring it out. The GM/Partner (i think?) came around to our table multiple times to make sure everything was ok and comp'd some drinks due to the time it took. Definitely made up for the time it took to get them.
Overall, good experience, not too expensive, but definitely not cheap!
- Pros: Good seafood, trendy
- Cons: Can get busy, Service can lack with this type of volume
Recession Hits Aquaknox? Just Plain Terrible!
by jasonlgreene at Citysearch
This past Saturday night, I decided to visit the beautiful Aquaknox, again, after going to their opening week last year. Being a Saturday night, no reservation, single diner, there was no problem getting the best seat in the house, since they were half empty. I understand that, and the recession. I was seated in the window overlooking Peachtree, and all seemed too perfect. My server finally arrived with menu, told me about the evening specials, which in inclkuded a double cut pork-chop, with half a lobster tail, and BBQ Sauce. Well, that didn't appeal to me. Strange combination for a luxury Seafood Restaurant, as this is not a backwoods Seafood Shack, located in a remote area. I ordered a Three Olive Martini, @13.00, and the Gulf Coast Prawns w/Aquaknox sauce @16.00. Waiter warned me the sauce with the Prawns was very spicy, I love spicy, so I said bring it on. After a twenty minute wait, my appetizer arrived. Where is my Martini, that should have been brought to me, to start the evening out? I just sat there looking for my waiter and when I finally got his attention, he ran for the bar and grabbed my Martini. The Prawns were not that large, only four for
16.00, and just a dab of sauce on one shrimp. It was not spicy, tasted like Katchup, and the shrimp were tough and overcooked. The Martini was great though! I did order the Crab Stuffed Whole Lobster @ 49.00. It finally arrived, and I had to beg for another Martini, just a basic Grey Goose this time. The Lobster looked great, nice presentation. One bite of the tail, and the meat fell off the fork. It was either previously frozen, sitting on ice too long waiting to be cooked, or was overcooked. I tried to locate my waiter. No luck. When I was looking around, I did catch the eye of the floor manager. Did he come to my table once, to see how my dinner was going, no! But he did do table visits to all parties of two or more. It's not about the 116.00 I spent, it was about the terrible service and food!
- Pros: One Of Atlanta's Most Stunning Dining Destinations! Great View!
- Cons: Horrible Service & Food Even Worse!
Glitzy Atmosphere

We were here a week ago for the first time. The food is good, but not over the top. The service on the other hand is excellent. The tables against the glass exterior walls are designed so that the waiter does not have to reach over guests to serve. It's very unique and nice. The waiters are out of sight but right there when you need them---they way it should be.
I had the stuffed lobster special. The lobster itself was good but the stuffing was a bit dry and over cooked. We will definitely go back and try it a few more times before I make up my mind. The service and atmosphere is the draw.
We went on a Saturday night and it was not busy at all. Seems strange but it may be the economy since this is a pricy place. I could see how this could be a very romantic place to go.
- Pros: Service and View
- Cons: To early to tell
The quality doesn't match the price or decor

I've now been to Aquaknox twice (I was a guest each time...it was not my selction). There will not be a third time. The awesome atmosphere immediately raised my expectations each time. It's gorgeous. But looks can be deceiving. On trip #2 (last night), the lobster was overcooked and its stuffing lacked flavor. I was a guest of someone or I would have sent it back. Later I found that others in my party shared the opinon. The creme brulee was so sticky sweet I had to leave 3/4 of it. On a positive note, the lobster bisque was outstanding.
I also found the wait staff to be friendly but a bit pushy. On my first visit, our waiter insisted on a particular bottle of wine even after I said it wasn't what I preferred. Last night, the very same person (behind the bar this time) recommended two diffferent reds. I'm not sure if they were corked or the glasses were soapy, but each smellled and tasted bad. Instead of apologizing and moving on, he gave me a look like I had insulted his mother (I was not being unkind) In general, I feel they need to find a more mature wait staff and not rely on this "Olive Garden - level" inexperienced crew.

The new lunch menu at Aquaknox is delcious and a great value. The soup is amazing !
3 courses for $15. It was a welcome 45 minute respite in my hectic day. The service was great and I love the decor and views.
I can't wait to go back for dinner with my boyfriend , I bet it's romantic at night.
- Pros: lunch is a great value!
Best food in Atlanta
by nickandfay78 at Citysearch
By far the best restaurant I've ever been to. The restaurant is gorgeous, the atmosphere romantic and the wait staff professional. But none of that compares to the dining experience. Kudos to Chef William for the finest food I've ever had. I'm a regular and you should be too! Everyone owes it to themselves to eat at AquaKnox at least once a month if not more.
- Pros: Food
Best Seafood In Town!
by jtraffles12 at Citysearch
Okay...I finally made it to Aquaknox this last weekend. I am an avid seafood lover so expectations were high. We ordered the oysters and the mussels to start and they were spectacular. The oysters were so fresh and ice cold and they serve these mussells in big kettles like you would expect if you were in Hamptons or Cape Cod; with the crusty bread this was these were the best mussells I have had. I had the grouper with noodles which was great and they carry my favorite Kim Crawford Sauvigon Blanc so that was perfect. Service was great. The decor could use a little warming up although I love the glass bulb light fixtures and valet is less than desirable but other than that I loved the food! There was a friend in our group who does not do seafood and ordered the steak and loved it so we definitely can take anyone there.
- Pros: Food and Service
- Cons: Decor and Valet
best dining experience in Georgia!!

Wow! I thought the Aquanox in Vegas was great, but hadn't gone there since the chef had changed. We resently visited Atlanta and found Aquanox there! What a surprise to find the same great chef here that we enjoyed in Vegas! This is by far one the must eat at places. It is people friendly and the food is out of this world!! If you like sea food than Chef William is for you! Thank you Aquanox for giving me and my husband a great time as we visited such a beautiful city!
- Pros: Best tasting food ever
- Cons: It is too far away for me to come on a weekly basis
