okay...but pretty uncomfortable

This was my first colonic. I decided to try NWC after reading positive reviews online, seeing that it was Black owned and operated, and finding out they only charge $55.

When I arrived at NWC, I almost couldn't find it. For me the location was a huge downfall. The center is located in an abandoned strip mall on a service road along I85. The area seemed so seedy and random and was far from the serene, tranquil location I expected. Inside the center it is homely and somewhat comfortable with leather couches and African art. As I waited a man was just getting set up in the first room and I was surprised at how freely Dr. Imani opened and closed the door, I could practically see the guy having his colonic!...

Dr. Imani has a very positive demeanor. Its obvious he tries very hard to make you feel comfortable. As he was giving me instructions and answering my questions, I definitely felt like he seemed rushed - he even said "okay now, stop stalling!" It was my first time and I had lots of questions...I dont think that's a bad thing! Anyway, since they use a self-administered closed system called Colenz, Dr. Imani gives you instructions on how to undress and get on the machine, insert the tube, and buzz him back in to turn it on. I found the machine to be pretty uncomfortable since it was rather cold and hard and just not comfortable under me. There are baby wipes, paper towels, air freshener spray, big sheets to cover yourself and hand sanitizer in case you need to freshen up, which was good. Once Dr. Imani came back in and turned on the machine, he chatted some more and then left...I'm actually really glad he didnt stay for the whole procedure cause I really wanted my privacy once that machine started!

As for the procedure...I found it to be very uncomfortable. He makes sure to make the room temperature how you want it and dims the lights, but it still felt awkward in there to me. I had voiced concern about the tube coming out - it just didnt make sense to me that it would stay in if so much was coming out! Dr. Imani said that was next to impossible...but he was wrong! After several strong urges it sure did! I also started to get really sick - nausea, chills, etc. and made the mistake of looking down...and saw way more than i wanted to :( When people say you cant see, smell or hear anything theyre lying. With that machine at least, its entirely possible to look down and see what came out, especially if youre not positioned far down enough near the hole. I had to ask Dr. Imani to stop the machine for about 15 minutes until the sickness went away. it was very embarassing to have to buzz him back in several times as i didnt know what to expect, and at one point wanted to stop all together. But he explained that it was the toxins making their way out of my body and that i should stick with it. So I did and from there it was smooth sailing.

After the procedure was done, he gave me info on what to do afterwords - mainly take probiotics and digestive enzymes and have a series of 2-3 in the first 10 days for optimal results (which I think sounds like a little much...).

All in all, I thought NWC was a nice place but I wouldnt recommend it for first timers. Dr. imani didnt seem as knowledgable for first-timers and i felt it was way too "do-it-yourself" if you dont know what to expect. Also, it wasn't very relaxing or serene and I think thats important for a first time. When its self-administered there is a lot of room for mistakes and for a first -time that could lead to a very uncomfortable experience!

Most Enlightening Experience of My Life...

I am here to say, whoever is on here stating false claims about the Imani's that run this place, and the personality or attitude of the person running it is Horribly Mistaken...Dr. Imani from day one has been kind and also caring to everyone that walks in. Everyone that Iv'e sent had raving reviews about their experience, and the Dr. He creates equanimity from the start for those that are a little nervous, or if thats your first experience.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH COLONICS SAVED MY LIFE...period. I discovered after this experience that I have a sluggish digestive system which slows my movements daily, so I need aids to help me along. I had developed boils because at the time I was soooo backed up from not going like I'm suppose to, it started causing negative effects on my body. The nescience I had at that time about colonics almost caused the death of me because of the terrible overload. I am so grateful to my sister and her then boyfirend at the time, because they were the ones that shared this information with me about The Nile Wellness Center. When I was laying there recieving the treatment I was overwhelmed with happyness and gripped with grief at the same time because I had just saved myself but also ashamed i wasn't taking good care of my body. I can go on about the positives about the treament all day but I will leave it for you to see for yourselves. I will also say this, because I sent so many people to the Wellness Center, Dr. Imani was kind enough to give me free treatments because of it. That doesn't sound like a man with an horrible disposition at all. I continue my treatments a few times a year just to keep things moving, and getting that extra stuff a normal movement leaves behind. On a final not PLEASE people clean your colons because with all of the chemicals that their putting in foods we really need this now more than ever...SAVE YOURSELF...Thanks A Million Dr. Imami...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE OTHER LADY THAT LEFT HER COMMENT ....BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A TRY MYSELF, I WENT THERE TODAY TO SEE WHAT THE NILE WAS ALL ABOUT, WHEN I FIRST CAME IN MR. IMANI HAD A VERY COLD AND CALCULATING DEMEANOUR. HE WAS VERY STANDOFFISH AND SEEMED TO HAVE AN ATTITUDE. WHEN I GOT THERE HE SEEMED TO NOT WANT TO EXPLAIN THE PROCEDURE. " HE SAID , YOU HAD THIS DONE BEFORE RIGHT? , I SAID, YES ,BUT NOT AT THIS LOCATION OR WITH THAT TYPE OF MACHINE, HE BEGAN TO EXPLAIN AND THEN HE RAN QUICKLY THREW THE INSTRUCTIONS AS IF HE DIDNT HAVE TIME TO EXPLAIN, THE MACHINE IS NOT A COMFORTABLE ONE AT ALL , I LOOKED AT THE MACHINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE UNSANITARY WITH A HOLE IN IT AND YOU HAVE TO PUSH OUT WASTE ON YOUR OWN, THIS PLACE STINKS! AND HE HAS A SCREWED UP ATTITUDE AND HIS PERSONALITY STINKS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, AND THE PHONE WAS SHUT OFF THE DAY I TRIED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM, I HAD TO EMAIL HIM, I WALKED OUT AND DECLINED THE PROCEDURE, I WASNT GONNA WASTE MY TIME WITH HIS FUNKY ATTITUDE, AND THEN HE TOLD A LIE AND SAID HE DOES MORE COLONICS THAN ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY , WHAT A JOKE, NOT IN THAT LITTLE SMALL OFFICE HE DOESNT, THEN HE HAD THE NERVE TO ASK ME WHERE I WORKED AT , AS IF HE WAS GONNA STALK ME AND THEN WHEN I LEFT HE TEXT MY PHONE AND SAID THANKS! HEALTHNUT

I CONSIDER MYSELF A HEALTHNUT. I'VE BEEN A VEGETARIAN FOR 20 YEARS , I EXERCISE REGULARLY, AND I MEDITATE DAILY TO STAY CENTERED; HOWEVER, I'VE NEVER GOTTEN A COLONIC UNTIL RECENTLY. I'VE HEARD A LOT OF GREAT THINGS ABOUT THE PROCEDURE, BUT FELT THAT MY GOOD EATING HABITS WERE ENOUGH. I FINALLY HAD THE NERVE TO CALL DR. IMANI TO ENQUIRE ABOUT THE PROCEDURE AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT HIS PATIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE COLON IN GENERAL. HE PUT ME AT EASE BEFORE VISITING THE CENTER. I MUST SAY I WAS REALLY SURPRISED AND A LITTLE NERVOUS WHEN I GOT THERE. THE MACHINE WAS A LITTLE INTIMIDATING BUT DR. IMANI PUT ME AT EASE AGAIN. I WAS IN TOTAL AWE OF HOW MUCH WASTE I RELEASED BECAUSE I WAS STILL IN THE MINDSET THAT I WAS PRETTY HEALTHY AND DIDN'T REALLY NEED THE PROCEDURE. NOT ONLY WAS I SURPRISED BUT I FELT A LITTLE CHEATED AS TO WHIY I HAD NOT DISCOVERED THIS EARLIER. I'VE NOW HAD 6 COLONICS AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I'M STILL RELEASING A LOT OF WASTE. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AND I DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS POSSIBLE CONSIDERING MIY HEALTHY LIFESTYLE (smile). I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROCEDURE TO EVERYONE. BY THE WAY, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE, I SAW A MONK LEAVING THE CENTER. THIS PROCEDURE DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE. IF YOU HAVE A COLON (and most of us do) YOU SHOULD CONSIDER A COLONIC. GREAT SERVICE AND ONE HECK OF A SATISFIED CUSTOMER. THANK YOU DR. IMANI.

1st colonic ever. great experience. felt 20 lbs lighter after procedure. had lots of energy and experienced vivid dreams. got me motivated to fast to continue my cleansing process for the summer. overall, superb experience.

Very Misleading

If you want to have bowel movements for 40 minutes this is the place to go. You will not have anyone in the room and it was uncomfortable. The facility was nothing like the pictures. It was basically a very tight office and the doorbell you could use to ring someone did not work. You DO NOT SEE any waste coming out. You are just pushing for 40 minutes into this hole, I guess filled with waste. This is not a good way of having a colonic done. I rather have the machine exit out my waste instead of pushing for that long. Even though I got up an left, I still had to pay $55.00 because I did not feel like arguing.

This is the TRUTH

All I can say is WOW. At first I was a bit on the disbelief side. But this is the truth!

If you are 21 years of age or older....DO THIS. I'm 25 and I never knew how much (S)ugar (H)oney (I)ced

(T)ea (take the first letter of each of those words and you will see the ultimate word) I was full of. I feel more lighter, energetic, and hekkkk my jeans fit even better now. I'm so happy that I found this.

Remarkable Experience!!

This was my first colonic, and I did not know what to expect., but Dr. Imani made the experience as pleasant as possible. The environment was soothing and relaxing, and he has a wonderful personality. He did not push the services down my throat; he only recommended the course of treatment that I need to take. I am so glad that I made the decision to go here, and I would recommend the Nile Wellness Center to anyone seeking a colonic.

Amazing Experience

I have never had a colonic in my life before. I talked about it with some of my friends and one of them mentioned Dr. Imani as being the best in Atlanta so I thought that I would look into it.

First let me say that I was very nervous about going thru with the process but, after speaking with Dr. Imani over the phone, he immediately made me feel comfortable and answered my first round of questions and gave me precise details on what to do prior to my visit.

Upon arrival, I was greeted and entered the office which is very comfortable with a nice ambiance. He sensed my nervousness and spent time explaining the process and benefit of getting the colonic done. After a few minutes of talking, I felt ready. Let me say that I had no idea what to expect for I have never seen the machine that would be used. He once again, removed any anxiety that I know he must of felt from me by calmly taking the time to go over the machine details with me and explained exactly how to get ready to start the procedure.

Once you are ready, you simply ring a bell and he will re-enter the room to start the machine and dim the lights with some relaxing music and provide you with a light lavender scented hot pack for your belly to assist in keeping you comfortable and easing the cleansing.

I must say that for me, I was feeling quite embarassed to have this man come into my room and talk to me for a few seconds with a tube in my behind ...( Iol... but I am being honest), but for some reason he just makes you feel comfortable and I said to myself, "He does this all day!". His extreme professionalism is just comforting and took the edge off of any of my anxiety.

Once he leaves, the process begins and after like 2-3 minutes, it actually is quite relaxing and feels great. I mean, its like taking the ultimate bowel movement. (We all know how good it feels after taking a good one at home, so imagine the best one of your life!) It felt great to know that I was removing 20 some odd years of waste stuck to the walls of my colon. It is the ultimate cleansing experience.

After it is over, he will come in to shut the machine off and tell you how to finish up. Now, at first, you may feel a bit weird to have a him come in after moving your bowels but, have no fear for you have a nice little can of air freshner to keep the maintenance up during the cleansing! Also, if you still feel that the room has an odor, you will never know if he smells it because the professionalism is just that high. ( I know it sounds gross but, its true and something that I thought about!)

Afterwards, you come out and you will have a little chat, (In my case a long chat since I ask so many questions.), and be on your way! I was concerned about having having to make frequent trips to the bathroom all day and night but, you don't! You can come in on your lunch break and go about your business!

Once again, let me say that this is the best experience I have had and I have already had my second one today. After my first one last week, I immediately felt lighter and cleaner. I felt a few cramps after an hour or two and called up Dr. Imani about it and he simply explained that it was the first time that I have ever done this and my colon was simply adjusting to the hydration and release. I felt fine however and the cramps left as soon as they came. Since completing my second one today, I have not had one cramp and feel great and especially so since my belly seems flatter already...

I hope that my description will help ease the worries of first timers and recommend the Nile Wellness Center to everyone. I will be a regular customer from now on and suggest that you do too! ( Plus it is so affordable!)

Amazing Experience

This was my first time every getting a Colonic and Dr. Imani made my experience very comfortable. He was very patient, informative, and helped me relax.
