Bad Seafood and Expensive!

by Marileemed at Citysearch

With our recent move to Atlanta from South Carolina, I was thrilled to have an "Oyster Bar" in my area, as I have been eating seafood of every type imaginable since I was a child. My husband and I entered and were pleasantly surprised by the decor. It's "swank", I would say, and had a bar and booths which felt relaxed. Based on recommendations from reviews, as well as our own tastes, we had several things. The truffle fries as an appetizer were thin, crisp, covered with parmesan and reminiscent of truffle. These were by far the best dish of the evening. I had 2 dozen raw oysters of various types and they were so-so in quality. . .which disappointed me only because they were at least $2 each! We had the mussels in white wine sauce, which were HORRID. In fact, they smelled terrible and tasted foul, as in spoiled. We immediately sent them back, however could not get the spoiled taste out of our mouth for days. I had the tilapia cooked meniere style, which was terribly overcooked, dry, and somewhat fish-y in taste. All in all, my husband wanted to give this place only one star because along with this terribly unsatisfying meal was an exorbitant price tag. I'm not kidding you, this place is way overpriced, especially for this quality of preparation. I'm giving it two stars because the ambiance is nice as were the truffle chips. Steer clear from the seafood here, however. . .I can cook it better at home. . .and so can you.

  • Pros: Nice atmosphere
  • Cons: Spoiled seafood

Delicious

by Ptrap at Citysearch

Had dinner Friday night at C and S for the first time. Pimm's Cup at the bar, wow! The calamari appetizer was literally the best I have ever had. My swordfish au pouivre was ok, but my friend's grilled shrimp with lemon buerre blanc and spinach was outstanding. Excellent service in an upscale atmosphere but still completely relaxed. I'll go again!

  • Pros: Best calamari ever
  • Cons: Pricy

my husband and I went for our anniversary and it was a great experience! We were greeted when we entered the restaurant with smiling faces and were seated very promptly. They had a wide variety of wines and fun mixed drinks. Service and food were both amazing!! We are calamari "buffs" and it was the best we have ever had!! We will definately be returning!!

  • Pros: best calamari in town

great great food and best service in town

by scpohl10 at Citysearch

My wife and I love this restaurant. We have been dining here since it opening a few years ago. The servers are on par and their seafood is prepared the best I have ever had in a landlocked city.

I have read some of the other reviews and am questioning if you got the name of the restaurant correct. The service here is unsurpassed. I am a retired Colonel and have very high expectation when it comes to service and respect and have nothing but incredible experiences every time we have dined in this establishment. Do yourself a favor and try it!

  • Pros: freshest seafood around

Only place in Atlanta to get a NYC dining experience

by amelialovesfood at Citysearch

This has to be my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. After 4 different wonderful experiences, I have finally made the verdict. My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant. The appetizers are to die for, especially the calamari, homemade chips and tuna tartar.

My husband is a steak eater and swears they have the best steak in town. I only eat the fish. It is so fresh always and prepared in the best possible way. We are always greeted with a warm smile and our service has been nothing less than impeccable. It is so nice to go to a fancy restaurant and really be able to enjoy the dining experience and freindly staff, along with wonderful food. I just can't say enough good stuff about this place.....you HAVE to go check it out. They should put me on their payroll because I am telling everyone I see to go to C&S Oyster Bar!

  • Pros: best seafood selection in town
  • Cons: not open for breakfast :)

Great Food and Service

by kmc33 at Citysearch

My husband and I had dinner there last night for the first time. We just moved to Vinings from Chicago. What a treat. We started with the Blackberry Point oysters and and goat cheese beingets they were both excellent. For main course I had the Salmon with Truffle butter and hubby had the NY Strip both were fantastic. Tim S. was our server and he was 5 star.

I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great seafood or steaks

NEVER GO HERE! - HORRIBLE SERVICE!

by Ano at Citysearch

I was appalled by the lack of training that our server had - either he was a complete idiot on the art of dining or he just did not care that we were paying customers trying to enjoy a nice evening. As soon as we were seated our server seemed annoyed that we were at his table for some reason? He spilled water and wine each time he refreshed our glasses so by the end of the meal our table was soaked. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and after he poured our first glass (and about a ¼ of a glass ended up being on the table) he asked if we would like it on ice. We said “yes please” – his response… a disgruntled sigh like he could not believe we would like our wine to remained chilled. It was almost comical. Throughout the evening, he never once asked how we were, never once smiled and never once said “thank you” or “you’re welcome”. The best was got was a grunt. He also basically threw the silverware down between courses as well as our plates.

The highlight of the meal has to be the water service. There must be a competition with the servers on who can pour the most water throughout the evening. Serously – aren’t we supposed to be conserving water? Many times throughout the night I asked that he stop refreshing my glass with water. This was for 3 reasons – 1. He kept spilling water on me and the table, 2. My glass was completely full of ice from the previous pours and 3. I was not thirsty ANYMORE! He simply ignored my request. I finally said “I do not want any water” and he said he “had to pour it because management had video cameras taping water service” – What??? When he came for the final time I said “please, no more water” and had to put my hand over my glass – he poured it on my hand and said “I have to pour you water”. I replied “no you do not; I do not want any more water, thank you”. His reply – “I have 50,000 people watching me so I have to give you water”. I said “no you do not”. He said “give me your glass I am going to take it away”. I said “no, I would like to keep my glass with the little bit of water I have”. He proceeded to argue with me causing a scene at our table and I finally said “I am the guest, I wish for no more water and would like to keep my glass, please leave”. Needless to say we paid our bill right away.

The food was great- I had the Porcini Salmon. However, I will NEVER step one foot into this restaurant ever again. There is ABSOULTLY NO excuse for the lack of respect we received by IVAN B. – our waiter.

Waffle House has 1,000 times better service than C&S - but if you have to go and you get a server named IVAN – ask for a new server immediately!

Best Seafood I've Ever Had

by amd621 at Citysearch

This beautifully furnished restaurant in the heart of vinings is perfect. You really do forget where you are when you step in. I guess I'll start with the impeccable service. Everyone there was so attentive and catered to my every need. Now to the food. The food was out of this world. I started with the calamari, all of which were cooked to perfection. For my entree I had the scallops, cooked the way the waiter suggested, grilled and topped with the lemon wine sauce. He really knew his stuff and they could not have been better. For dessert I had the creme brule, one of my favorites. Although it is one of my favorites it was truly the best I have ever had. So rich and creamy and the top was caramelized perfectly. All in all one of the best experiences at a restaurant I've ever had and definitely the best seafood I've ever had.

  • Pros: The Food and the atmosphere
  • Cons: some might think the location is a con, but it's not

Could be better,, but fish is pretty good

by papafood at Citysearch

I loved c& s the first two times I went. Then it seemed to slide

The salmon was not so good the last time. I hated their anniversary specials. Way too much sauce bloating the salmon. Service is not so great for such prices. It could be the best seafood, but they need to be more consisitient. I may try it one more time. The valet is very overbearing

I feel forced to valet, and it should be a choice.. Good wine list, except for the horrid wines by the carafe. Those took me back to college days and seem out of place in that enviroment. Save that for the pizza joints

Oysters are good, but too expensive

I still prefer Oceanaire, especially with lower gas prices

Native Atlantan Finally found excellent NYC style food

by foodluver4life at Citysearch

C&S was recoommended to me by a friend because I am such a food snob I have a hard time finding restaurants I love. Well I LOVE C&S!!!!

It is my new favorite restaurant. The oysters rockafeller are to die for and their seafood selection is unsurpassed. But don't forget the steak. My husband only eats steaks (goood steaks, he is a food snob also) and he says they have the best steaks in the area.

You have to try it!

  • Pros: food, atmosphere, service
  • Cons: in a shopping center (not really a con)
