Chef Rob. . . You're FIRED!!!
by june30th2007 at Citysearch
I read reviews on city search, urban spoon, and of course my trusted yelp and I was so excited that I drove 30 min. from Forsyth County just to get some of these oxtails some of my fellow food critics had spoken so highly of. I can't believe how disappointed I was. First of all, my to-go bill was $43.53, which included 2 oxtail plates, a side of plantain, and strawberry lemonade. When I opened my bag at home I opened up a plate of food swimming in orange grease! The oxtails were not seasoned like they were made by a Jamaican at all. My family cooks real Jamaican food and you can taste the Jamaican flavors (scotch bonnet peppers, thyme); this was a nasty Worcestershire sauce and sour vinegar mix at best. Not to mention it was all fat and bones and hardly any meat could be found. AND Braised my foot! Those oxtails have been sitting in a bucket since this morning. My rice and peas were swimming in the orange grease as well so I didn?t even get to eat much of it, but it didn?t really have that hint of coconut milk flavor I was looking for. At least the side of steamed cabbage was decent. Oh and how do you screw up fried plantain?!? You would think they would have the timing down so I wouldn?t be eating half cooked plantains. And maybe let the oil drain once they are taken out of the fryer, Come on guys! Oh and the strawberry lemonade isn?t fresh so don?t be fooled, when I stuck my straw in the bottom of my cup I drew back syrupy cans strawberries. . . can we say YUCK! If you value Jamaican food and know what good Jam food tastes like then you'll listen and save your money. I am so PO'ed, I just had to drop my fork and tell you poor food critics what I thought about you beloved JaFAKIN restaurant!!! If it weren't so darn far from my house I'd take it back and use that greasy orange oil from my food to write my disgust on the store front windows!!! Lucky I have Bible Study tomorrow! And Chef Ron, if you see me in the streets I want my $43.53 back!
- Pros: side order of steamed cabbage was ok,
- Cons: PRICE, NOT REALLY JAMAICAN FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!
poor service, even the owner didn't speak/greet, over priced, food avg.

food average, not as flavorful as jamaican food can be; service full of attitude, seen owner/chef twice and he hasn't greeted anyone-his establishment you would think he would at least say welcome or hello/good day; prompt food service; decor very nice; very over-priced; i won't go back (i have given them second and third chances)
- Pros: decor
- Cons: food,service,price
Serves undercooked chicken and waiters are snobs
by viva3000 at Citysearch
I will not go to this restaurant again. I ordered the appetizer platter which included chicken wings, when I took the first bite, I could tell the chicken was not fully cooked; the texture and color of the chicken said it all. I politely told the waiter what I discovered and he responded in an offensive tone. He insisted the wings was cooked and did not offer to re-cook or reorder another batch of wings, I did not make a big deal at the moment because it was my sisters Birthday and I didn't want to spoil the day for her. I also ordered a plate to go and when he brought it over I said I just wanted to taste a piece and he pulled the to-go plate away from me a said I was not allowed to eat off the to-go box. I was appalled. News Flash...your not a 5 star restaurant and from my experience, I?m going to tell everyone I know about the service and the uncooked chicken Chef Robs cooks
- Pros: Nice setting
- Cons: Waiters are rude and food uncooked
