Serves undercooked chicken and waiters are snobs
by viva3000 at Citysearch
I will not go to this restaurant again. I ordered the appetizer platter which included chicken wings, when I took the first bite, I could tell the chicken was not fully cooked; the texture and color of the chicken said it all. I politely told the waiter what I discovered and he responded in an offensive tone. He insisted the wings was cooked and did not offer to re-cook or reorder another batch of wings, I did not make a big deal at the moment because it was my sisters Birthday and I didn't want to spoil the day for her. I also ordered a plate to go and when he brought it over I said I just wanted to taste a piece and he pulled the to-go plate away from me a said I was not allowed to eat off the to-go box. I was appalled. News Flash...your not a 5 star restaurant and from my experience, I?m going to tell everyone I know about the service and the uncooked chicken Chef Robs cooks
- Pros: Nice setting
- Cons: Waiters are rude and food uncooked
A Taste of the Caribbean
by virtue56 at Citysearch
This restaurant is amazing. I have eaten there several times and it seems each time is better than the last. My favorite dish is the oxtails, very meaty and large portions. There is also this other special that I like, the chicken marsala with the smashed red potatoes that are to die for. For dessert you have to try to white chocolate bread pudding! Eating it feels like a sin, it's so good! And the drinks are definately potent. The servers are excellent and very well versed in the menu. They laugh and talk with you and make you feel really welcomed. The live music on Saturday nights is an added experience. The sound of the steel drum playing while you sit in a dining room garnished with Bob Marley paintings, authentic conch shells, and straw place mats just makes you feel like you've stepped into Jamaica. You should definately try it!
- Pros: Friendly Service, True Caribbean Ambiance
- Cons: None
Good Food, Good Drinks, Good Energy

My girlfriend Sash recommended this spot the other day so I gave it a shot today for lunch on my way from Wholefoods on Roswell Rd. I had the oxtails with rice and peas and literally sucked the bones. I'd of never known that Rob's was there, but now I won't forget. I shop Wholefoods at least twice a week and will manage to fit the Caribbean Cafe into my commute. The staff was very attentive although a little busy during the lunch rush. The clientele was diverse and every mouth was in full motion. Hats off to the chef. Great find!
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere, Service
- Cons: Can be hard to find if you don't know
Authentic caribbean food...in a Great location..
by boslady at Citysearch
I found Chef Rob's on Citysearch (love this site), with the reviews and distance from the city I stopped in to check it out. First the location is GREAT literally only 10 mins away from Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown. The food is always fresh, tasty and fullfilling, they have a variety of drink specials daily and 1/2 of appetizers after work; the J-rk wings are the best. The best part of the restaurant is the Chef's personable personality, sometimes he'll bring the food to your table and check on your service. I go here now almost everyday for lunch. Thanks Rob!!
Sandy Springs Best West Indain Secret!!!

I stumbled upon Chef Rob's Carribbean Cafe two weeks ago on my way to have my son's hair cut at a new location on Roswell Rd. To say the least, I've dined there 5 times already including today, introducing friends and family each time. The Chef/Owner is very personable and accomodating, as is his staff. The food and rum cake is the absolute best Jamaican food I've had in Atlanta. The drinks even better. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant, while upholding a polished and cultured standard. On Saturday evening they have Live Music with mellow sounds of classic Jamaica vibrating through the restaurant. With a barber and a great Jamaican cafe, this shopping plaza in Sandy Springs hasn't seen the last of me!
- Pros: Cool atmosphere, Great Service, The Bomb Drink Specials
- Cons: None
Great Service, Amazing Food, Lovely Atmosphere. 100 Stars from me!

Chef Rob's Carribean Cruise is fantastic. The food taste very authentic and comes in large portions; plenty of leftovers whether you order from the lunch or dinner menu. What's great is, he really makes an effort to come out and greet his guests. That's something you would never get from a larger spot. Not to mention, he has egg rolls to die for. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who just likes to relax and eat a nice meal served by probably the best chef in town.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Nothing
Our New Saturday Night Spot
by jerzeypeach at Citysearch
My boyfriend and I finally made it over to Chef Rob's spot last Saturday evening and as I expected, we were super satisfied. The decor and feel of the place made us feel like we were on vacation. A server opened the door and greeted us with a huge smile, and we were able to choose our seats.
Everything we ordered was superb (it's Chef Rob--what do you expect?!). I highly recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer and shrimp fettucine entree (AWESOME!) with a Rum Pnch to wash it down. My boyfriend ordered the Jrk Chicken Eggrolls and Oxtail entree and he didn't say two words to me while he ate. It was that good!!!! :0)
To top it all off, the music had me lifted and the live performer brought the niceness!! This is definitely our weekend getaway and I'll be telling everyone I know about our experience. Great prices, awesome service (hey Joanna!!), and FABULOUS FOOD. This place is a winner and you'd be crazy to not, at least, give it a try.
- Pros: Great location, awesome exec chef, reasonable priced, great food, cool ambiance
- Cons: They don't serve escoveitched filets, only whole fish (I'll live though)

Great food hidden away

We went here after reading a good review in Atlanta magazine. My husband & I love to try new places, and this was nearby (I think there used to be an Indian place there?). J-rk chicken was awesome - best I've had in US - and the chicken curry was good too, if slightly less flavorful. Sweet potatoe fries were a nice compliment to the whole thing, but needed salt. The whole atmosphere really made me jones for a caribbean vacation! Yes, service was slow, but the place was empty on a Friday night so it wasn't hard to flag down the only waiter when we needed him. One word of warning - this is true j-rk chicken, not the boneless-skinless breast meat variety you find in Americanized restaurants. Don't go with someone who is picky about white meat only, and cringes at eating meat off the bone. But definately order a beer and enjoy some good food.
(someone tell citysearch that j-rk is not a bad word!)
- Pros: Real caribbean food, casual, great prices
- Cons: Limited menu, slow service
Great Jamaican food!
by islandgirl at Citysearch
I have been a frequent flier to Chef Rob's since its grand opening. For someone of Jamaican decent and orignally from NY where carribean food is easy to get, Chef Rob's can hang with the best. Everyone who I have taken there for lunch has loved it and has gone back on their own. I usually get the j--K chicken which is moist., flavorful and spicy -but not so that you cannot enjoy it. The vegetables are good, not overcooked. My co-workers have loved the wings, curry goat, and oxtails. The calamari appetizer is also very good, as are the coco bread and the egg rolls. The desserts are delicious, I recommend the rum cake and bread pudding-to die for. The prices are cheap-$7 for a j--k chicken lunch. I like the decor, it reminds me of a tropical island and not a strip mall, the background music is soothing but not obtrusive. Ok, the service can be a little slow, but hey mon, this is a place to relax and unwind. Also, Chef Rob himself usually makes the rounds and greets his customers which is a nice touch. So far no wait times for a table, but I am sure this will change as the word gets out. All in all, if you are looking for something different, and are tired of chain restaurants, Chef Rob's is a welome alternative.
- Pros: great food, nice atmosphere, wait staff are very nice
- Cons: probably need additional wait staff
