Located in Technology Square @ the Georgia Tech campus in midtown...This laidback, smartly designed restaurant serves american contemporary cuisine creatively. It's been on my mind to visit, but I keep getting sidetracked, so a friend and I stopped by on a whim. We were graciously greeted and escorted to our table. I wasn't very hungry, but my friend was starved...he wanted steak but he settled for the angus burger with fries, we both decided on the White Gulf Shrimp cakes with mango/pineapple salsa....ummmm good!

As we swayed to global beats, it was now time for dessert, so many choices.. I enjoyed the Rum glazed Upside Down Pineapple cake with Creme Fraiche....sinfully delicious...and my guest ordered the Quince/Apple cobbler...of course, we sampled each other's desserts.

After dessert, we wondered into the library filled with books, magazines for our reading pleasure. I think we stayed until closing...well, almost. I hear it's Atlanta's Best Kept Secret for Weekend brunch.. call me....let's go for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch....no advance notice required..just call me and I'll be there!

  • Pros: Parking, Convenient location, Great Customer Service!

Our first clue should have been that the place was dead on a Friday night. The decor is inviting enough, but that doesn't make up for the terrible service. I think our waitress is a budding magician, because she kept performing the disappearing waitress routine all night. The food is nothing exceptional. The one chicken dish is organic chicken, it is a piece of baked chicken with absolutely no flavor at all for $18. I should have gone to Publix and gotten a rotisserie chicken. It would have tasted better and the service would have been better. If there was a rating lower than poor, I'd give it.

The Globe is absolutely fabulous! My friends and I have visited several times and the early kinks have definitely been worked out. The staff is sharp, service is snappy, and the atmosphere is clean and modern with fantastic lighting. It is at once glamorous and unpretentious. But it's the food that makes it one of my new favorites in Atlanta! Starting with the bread, it's warm sourdough rolls.....just wish they served unsalted butter with them! I've ordered the tandoori spiced duck with dried fruit salad the last two visits and it is impeccable! There was a mixed-berry cobbler on the original dessert menu that was amazing, along with a Spanish red wine that I have tried to find ever since. The small plates sound yummy and I will try to dine tapas-style in the future. Consistently delicious, always fun, make reservations and go!!
