What Is It?
by jaymaygm at Citysearch
What is this place suppose to be? Located on the back-side of a run-down shopping destination in Midtown, it's hard to figure out. Is it an alternative club, video bar, dining destination, or a dated catch-all disco! We ordered drinks from a poor soul, who seemed to be over it, and they were so watered down. The food served on the patio is a whole other story. Hey guys! Take some direction, and stick with it, and come-up with a direction!
- Pros: It's In Midtown!
- Cons: Hard To Find In Midtown!
This elegant and Euro-inspired gay restaurant and cafe is perfectly situated in a sleepy section of Midtown.

In Short
Midtown gets a Dutch treat with this sleek bar and cafe that caters to a mixed crowd of gay men and lesbians and their assorted friends and hangers-on. This Amsterdam Walk hotspot is welcoming to all with always affable bartenders who pour with a heavy hand--a perfect combination. Crowds peak earlier in the evenings and dwindle later as bar-hoppers bounce to other spots. When not gabbing about the latest gossip, patrons bask in the airy ambience of this factory-cum-watering hole or take a table on the patio. The real draw, when not flirting, is the display of flat-panel televisions that adorn every wall and beam music videos or popular shows like "Project Runway" for enraptured crowds. In addition to the drinks menu--including mind-bending frozen concoctions--there is also a better-than-expected dining menu.
Cool Place. Surprisingly good food for a bar.

We went to Amsterdam last week. Normally you don't expect much of a place thats serves the usual bar fare, but the food waa incredible. I had a chicken marsala dish over pasta that was better than similar entrees in very pricey restaurants. Service was friendly and prompt. My partner had homemade meatloaf that was also very tasty.
Definitely will go back again.
- Pros: Delicious, inexpensive food and fast service.
Excellent Food. No watered-down drinks here. No attitude crowd.

Their two for one specials on Tuesdays are awesome. One of the few places in Midtown that pours strong drinks. Great value for the money. The burgers are also delicious.
Nicest atmosphere in midtown and not too smoky.
- Pros: High quality food. Nice, diverse mix of people. Friendly Service
- Cons: Music videos sometimes too loud and make it hard to hear people you are with.

As a well traveled man, I am extremely impressed in the whole operation.....Their drink prices are very reasonable compared to most places and the atmosphere is far superior. The food is excellent and people friendly. I could go on and on, but as a very young 50 year old professional, Amsterdam wins out.
