Awesome Thai food

by QueSaraiSarai at Citysearch

I think Shallots has THE BEST thai in all of Georgia. The only place better is actually going to Thailand itself!

Like everyone else has said, their Pad Thai is phenominal. And when you actually WANT something spicy they don't tip toe around the idea. They have things mild enough for my children and blazing spicy for me and the hubs.

Their sushi is good too. They have the run of the mill stuff like tuna, salmon, etc. Their Kanisu is yummers. They used to have All you can eat sushi wed - frid, but now it's only Wed & Thurs. A great deal and it's all made to order. Not sitting around.

Prices vary depending on what you get. $7 - $25 per entree. Children's meals run about $7. Their sushi is a bit expensive - outside their $1 and unlimited menu.

Their lunch and brunch menu is SUPER cheap. Go during luch. The flavors are fantastic and prices hard to beat!

  • Pros: Thai food Thai food Thai food - Fair price
  • Cons: Service gets slow when busy

One of th Better sushi places around town.

by Mikey767 at Citysearch

One of the better sushi joints around the local area. I still prefer places like MF Sushi in Buckhead or Midtown, but those are definitely a good drive. I also appreciate the variety if you entertain friends that aren't into raw fish.

  • Pros: Fast service, fresh fish, great saki
  • Cons: Prices

DEFINITELY WORTH TRYING!!!

by Kookie05 at Citysearch

Based on the reviews: I decided to take my Mother here for her B-day lunch. I REALLY loved the restaurant's ambience! Loved the wooded walls/floors/tables/etc. Very "inviting" feel to the restaurant!

We are NOT completely new to eating sushi--but completely new at trying Thai Food. The waiter was extremely patient and VERY kind to us -- especially after I told him we were "new" to eating this type of cuisine. That was a HUGE plus--and is enough to make me want to come back repeatedly for such GREAT customer service! He explained and clarified all of my questions. He also made great suggestions when I asked him to. He just delivered very admirable Customer Service that exceeded our expectations! (THANK YOU!)

I tried the Pad Thai that everyone seems to give high reviews to...and my Mother ordered the Pad See Ew. I tasted both--and I fell in love with the Pad See Ew MORE than their signature Pad Thai. I've never had Pad Thai before visiting Shallots...so I am really not in a position to judge its taste compared to other restaurants. I do know that I did not care for the taste of the Pad Thai NOODLE I tried, however. The noodles were very sticky--almost a dry taste to them. The Pad Thai noodle tasted like it could have very well been a bit "overcooked"!! Whereas, the Pad See Ew was more of a "moveable noodle" (NOT sticky/dry) and VERY VERY tasty!

I did ask my waiter about the taste of the Pad Thai and the noodle tasting "sticky"/dry -- he insisted that this was the way Pad Thai noodles are supposed to taste. I'm not sure about that one...I will have to try another top rated Pad Thai restaurant to compare. When I do--I will update this review with my final verdict! :-)

We also had Ginger Salad and Miso Soup to come with our dishes--they were equally DELICIOUS!

My mom ordered a side order of stir fry rice--cooked to PERFECTION!

We also ordered Sushi.

We were "new" to tasting their signature sushis...so we chose things at random! My Mom tried the Super Crab Rolls and I had the Shrimp Tempura Rolls and Ebi. Also...we had the Super Crunchy Rolls in a "to-go" box!

The Rolls were pretty tasty....definitely NOT bad at all!!

However, I've tasted better "Super Crunchy Rolls" elsewhere. The thing I think we were missing here was the actual CRUNCH to the roles. Where we've tried this type of roll before (at a different location)....the crunch seemed to have come from the FRIED SHRIMP & CUCUMBERS!! Shallots version of the "crunchy" roll does NOT contain these ingredients.... Whatever they used instead--did not meet what I was looking for in terms of a CRUNCH roll.

Thus, these roles slightly disappointed me because I paid $11.00 for a Super NOT-SO- crunchy sushi roll.

It was my Mom's birthday...so she received a complimentary candle and small discount. The waiter received the discount back--because we tipped him EXTREMELY well!

We definitely plan to go back again and try different dishes! The ambience and customer service will keep us coming back again and again. To boot--the food is still quite tasty--(despite the complaints above)!

THANKS Shallots Restaurant! :-)

  • Pros: Ambience, Customer Service, Food
  • Cons: Food is NOT to perfection (but still quite tasty)

Great Thai food at reasonable prices

by BennyS at Citysearch

I have been a few times with my wife and we have always been impressed with the food. She always get sushi and I always get Thai, so both are worthy of having. They have a few Thai items on the menu that arent the traditional things you expect to find (the spicy holy basil chicken is great), but the normal Pad Thai type stuff is great.

I have always had good service, but it is a family restaurant, so you might get the occasional crying kid. It probably isnt the best place for a romantic anniversary or anything like that, but for a normal night out it would be a hit for everyone, and not break the bank

  • Pros: good food with a few new things to try, prices, parking
  • Cons: none

Great food and service

by jen331 at Citysearch

I've eaten here a number of times with from 2 to 8 people. The service and the food are always excellent. My fiance is addicted to the Wild Jungle Curry! We're going to be regulars!

Go during happy hour for really great prices!! Even my "broke" friends can go for $1 sushi.

Best Happy Hour

by yip yap at Citysearch

you've got to make it to Shallots between 5-7 pm anyday.Their Happy Hour is fantastic. Starts with Local beer only $2.00 plus get 20% off any entree, but I love $1 sushi-thai menu sheet that just made me a very happy and fully satisfied man last saturday, all under my $10.00 budget.

To my curious mind I tried "Drunken Peanut"

from $1 menu to munch with my Budwiser and it was a perfect match. Well , for next time, the sake bomb would be my order with that crunchy munchy Drunken Peanut once again. It has some kind of salty onion-gingery flavor skin on peanut, sound a little wierd? but trust me it is very gooood! My server explained to me that this type of peanut is a natvie Thai favorite for muching with Iced cold Singha or Chang Beer. My server "Nuchi" is very friendly and prompt , the dining atmosphere gives me a family style sincerely welcoming feeling, casual, cozy and clean, the food (especially $1 Sushi) is excellent both in taste and value, so the five stars is the least I can endorse my appreciation to "Shallots".

  • Pros: Best $1sushi, Yummy Drunken Peanut & cheap beer
  • Cons: none

Love Sunday Brunch

by pani at Citysearch

My first time for brunch at Shallots last Sunday and it was so delicious. I had a brunch Bowl special of basil chicken Thai Style for only $5.00 with Thai Iced Coffee 2.50.....what a deal ! The service was very friendly and efficient. The whole place is very clean with a fresh red rose(cut from their front garden) in a cute little bottle ,set on each dining table.... so fresh and comfort. The restaurant was not so busy as yet because of not too many people are aware of ,as informed by our server . For sushi people,They also offer $1 Sushi menu.

I would recommend Brunch at Shallots at any Sunday!

  • Pros: very cheap and taste so good
