Not very good

by garyash at Citysearch

My husband, daughter, and I were visiting Atlanta and Redfish was close to our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. What a mistake!! Our waiter and host were extremely nice. But the food was terrible. Not to mention our daughter is 2 years old and they didnt have plastic cups so she had to drink out of this big heavy glass cup and they had nothing for children on the menu. I had the salmon and my husband had the ribs both were awful. We did enjoy the peanut butter pie though.

  • Pros: wait staff , peanut butter pie
  • Cons: do not cater to families, food tasted like a lean cuisine freezer meal

Understaffed and sub-par

by BPJ at Citysearch

8pm reservation....9pm finally seated. Food wasn't good enough to make up for poor service. Shrimp and grits were tasty, but the long wait and lack of attention from our waiter left us with a bitter taste in our mouths.

  • Pros: Nice shrimp and grits
  • Cons: Long wait, poor service

Good food, strange atmosphere...

by lettereleven at Citysearch

I really have nothing to complain about regarding the food at Redfish, but I do have to ask what's up with the decor and dinner music they've chosen? We ate pan-fried catfish with awesome, fresh green beans and etouffee much better than Depot's (which I've visited recently too), and darn good rum-currant bread pudding on our visit...and apparently listened to XM"s 80's top 40 channel while we ate. So strange and really kind of funny, actually. The decor had a similar recently post-disco chintz to it that reminds me of a place my midwestern parents might think of as "fine dining" in their one-stoplight town. Weird for a new orleans style place that could have, really, gone with any number of a pretty wide swath of southern charming decor. But, whatever. It is a restaurant, and the food and service were good. Actually, so was singing ancient U2 while I drank my wine.

  • Pros: Good southern food.
  • Cons: Weird 80's-esque decor.

Great Food...Great Ambiance...Great Service... Do not Leave ATL without trying this place!!!

by Charles55 at Citysearch

me and my lady left a venue in east atlanta.... we were hungry but wanted something diffferent.... I heard about this restauarant from friends... so i plugged it into my gps system and stopped by.... on the outside, it doesnt look like a restaurant... it kind of favors an old cornerstore with a patio... we walked inside and found the place romantically lit with candles and warm colors.... i immediately fell in love with the place... the manager greeted us at the door and very nice hostess walked us to our table... we sat in the aquarium portion of the restaurant... the servers were great!!! our drinks were never empty.... so, we decided to get an appetizer... the creole shrimp and grits.... GREAT!!! it was like having a theme park in my mouth.... great flavors... our food was very good... i got the 3 pepper catfish with red beans and rice with cucumber cole slaw.... great!!! my lady got the pan fried chicken with greens and red beans and rice!!! overall a great place to go!!! great food, service and people!!! next time, im bringing the entire family with me!!!!

  • Pros: great food!!!
  • Cons: parking

This place is very average at best!

by BufordFoodLover at Citysearch

It did not live up to the hype... we tried the gumbo, bread pudding, and one of the fish dishes. Nothing stood out. I could have made this at home. It was good, but not great. Valet parking is unnecessary. Don't get your hopes up like I did. If anything was missing, it would be flavor.

  • Pros: close to home, nice place for an average meal
  • Cons: Located in a rough-looking area, food is not flavorful

Great creole food!

by gilthoniel at Citysearch

I really enjoyed the dish I ordered here and the server was very attentive. He had recommendations when we wanted them and was completely accomodating. We sat outside without many other people so I don't know if the atmosphere is nice in general. Outside was pleasant even though the road is nearby. Great spicy food if you want it but then menu doesn't have too many spicy dishes if you don't. It seemed like the staff really cared if we enjoyed our meal. I haven't had much creole food in Atlanta so it was a nice change especially for the price!

  • Pros: Good food, service
  • Cons: Location (would be nicer if in Midtown)

My boyfriend and I were driving around trying to find a place to go to for a late lunch. We stopped at Redfish and the rest is history. The catfish is the best around!! After eating here, I cannot eat catfish anywhere else. We both loved everything... the bleu cheese grits are to die for...My boyfriend loves there red beans and rice.. Service is unbelievable....They are always accomodating and very friendly from the host to the bartender. They are wonderful!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!

  • Pros: Excellent food, ambience, valet parking
  • Cons: Nothing

One of my faves!

by ljames01 at Citysearch

I went to Redfish when it first opened, since I am a huge fan of their other restaurant, Agave. I was blown away by how great the food and drinks are...they have the "Agave Margarita" for those of you that love them. The food - from starter to dessert - is amazing. Fried oyster caesar salad, shrimp and grits, and peanut butter pie. The waiters are friendly, but not overbearing. I had a party there a few months ago with almost 30 people and the staff did a great job serving everyone promptly and were helpful to me as the host. Go eat at Redfish and GO OFTEN. The only thing that isn't so nice is the streetscape, but that will be better when they get the Memorial Drive repairs completed.

  • Pros: food, drinks, staff, management, ambience
  • Cons: streetscape, curb appeal

delicious, creole, seafood, wine

by ladythomas at Citysearch

Wow, this place is outstanding! Being from NOLA myself I was a bit hesitant but was not let down. Every entree served was fantastic. The Catfish with red beans and rice tated just like home. The Signature entree the Redfish, served with mased potatoes and asparagus, was AMAZING! My husband had the Salmon and was blown away! We will definatly be returning and reconmending this to all of our friends. Can't forget about the superb wine selection as well.

  • Pros: easy parking, great wine, great seafood, awesome creole
  • Cons: little pricey, but worth it!

The Big Easy meets Grant Park in this appealing Creole bistro.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Under Chef Gregg Herndon, Creole-accented Redfish has cred. The casual space has undressed dark wooden tables and low lighting--and no visible Mardi Gras beads. The spicy crawfish and shrimp Cajun pate and lightly breaded fried oysters swiped in piquant remoulade are excellent starters, as is the okra-studded gumbo. The signature redfish is a succulent pan-seared filet, served with horseradish mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The peanut butter mousse pie is a silky finish.
