Lame Service

by ieatfood12 at Citysearch

The food here is usually good. The service is a miss by some employees, usually those with a lot of cool tats or Kangol hats.

  • Pros: Food is good
  • Cons: Service, Elitist vibe

This gastropub sets a creative standard in the 04W.

by Jonathan Baker at Citysearch

In Short
P'Cheen is Gaelic for "moonshine" and the owners are spot-on with this bit of low-lit Euro-luminosity in a recharged neighborhood. A pioneer of the gastropub movement and the Old 4th Ward dining scene, this burnt amber-hued and shabby-chic spot went from a cutting edge rarity to a neighborhood favorite. The friendly and accent-heavy bartenders remember your name and your drink, while the menu combines European favorites with a touch of delicate, better-than-average bar treats. Guinness beer battered fish-and-chips and traditional shepherd's pie leave the overseas-influence in tact, while the grilled Angus burger and curried muscles offer a sense of comfort and sophistication. They drag out a smoker for Mike’s Bone Lick BBQ on Mondays, ho-humming their way to the city’s best all-around ‘cue. Constantly pushing the gastro-definition, P'Cheen smartly brings in DJ's for after-hours and has local art on display for sale.

we are regulars

by lyssalynne at Citysearch

It was originally advertised as an Irish pub but there isn't much to that. Even the servers don't really know that is supposed to be the theme. But it is very comfortable to hang out and the crowd really gets kickin around 11:30 or so. I think other reviews are being too hard on these guys. Its a great place!

  • Pros: atmosphere, food, helped me find my weddding band

Good....Lacking in Beer Selection

by pamulli at Citysearch

I really like P'cheen's food and I enjoy going, but they really need to develop a better beer selection. A few rotating High Gravity beers just don't cut it. They need better MicroBrew selections.

  • Pros: Food, Atmosphere and Location
  • Cons: Beer Selection

Relaxing, Enjoyable, and Friendly Staff!!!

by kang4 at Citysearch

So... I just recently moved up to Atlanta and I have been here twice within one week! The first time was with a few friends for drinks. The second was for ALL YOU CAN EAT crab legs on Wednesday nights! Yum, very delicious! They have the best selection of beer! BE SURE to ask about their HIGH GRAVITY BEER!!! The atmosphere is casual, relaxing, and very chill! You get an immediate feeling of comfort as soon as you walk in. The people are very friendly. I had a question for our waitor and he did whatever it took to find the solution for me. The manager/ owner that could answer my question, immediately came over to my table. He was very personable and friendly. He answered my question and I was completely satisfied. Its a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy your company. Not sure if it is every night, but they definitely have music on some of the nights! I was completely satisfied with the service and will definitely be going back!!! Highly Highly Recommended!!!!

Frozen Chicken, Bad Service

by xerxes151 at Citysearch

My first time to P'Cheen I had good food and good service. However, the last (and by last I do mean last) time I ventured there I was served the chicken which was warm on the outside but FROZEN on the inside. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he merely mentioned they had a new cook rather than offering to comp my dish, and apologize which is what I would expect from a restaurant when serving frozen food to their customers. I liked the cozy atmosphere, but seriously frozen chicken is not acceptable.

frat party atmosphere

by mcduff4 at Citysearch

My boyfriend and I live in the Old Fourth Ward and were excited to see an Irish Pub come to the neighborhood. We stopped in for a few drinks one night and found out there was nothing Irish about the place. They were playing club music. The bartenders were rude, one of them yelled at another bartender, obviously a new guy, for something that wasn't even his fault! I thought the poor guy was going to burst into tears. My boyfriend pulled him aside and told him we saw the whole thing and knew it wasn't his fault and that he didn't deserve that kind of treatment. The owner of the place was in there drinking and absolutely WASTED. To top the night off, my boyfriend accidentally knocked over a guys drink, which he had on the ground by the way, and the guy went nuts threatening to beat up my boyfriend. The guy was in a group of people with the drunken owner and the owner just sat there in a drunken stupor while his equally WASTED friends threatened to beat us up. Needless to say, we left and won't go back.

  • Pros: great concept
  • Cons: lack of execution

Mediocre Food

by outoftwnr at Citysearch

I was excited to learn about P'Cheen (which means moonshine in Irish) because I love Irish Food. I know that this is also a bar, but they promote themselves as having great food. I was so disappointed in the greasy fish and chips and the mushy peas. And to make matters worse, durning our dinner the owner came over to our booth and asked us to get up so he could plug in a cord under the seat.

Great Hangout, Amazing Food

by Femmemirage at Citysearch

I must say I was skeptical when we walked by and the sign said "best pub food in Atlanta". I am not a big pub food fan, but we looked at the menu, and when we saw coconut curried mussels, I decided to give it a try. We have been hooked ever since. The menu is seasonal, based on what is fresh and every dish has a personal twist to it. They have great beer specials. The variety of food choices is good enough to make anyone happy. Service does seem to assume you are spending the entire night there, and is not always the fastest. But we usually are with friends, drinking and hanging out. Therefore if you are trying to get in and out quickly, this is not the place for you. The music is hosted by a variety of local DJ's, and is not always there. The music usually doesn't start till later at night, after the kitchen is closed and it becomes more of a bar. One more thing, the brunch is delish and there is noooo wait! If you like a spicy Bloody Mary they are the best, home made mix and they pickle their own pickles.....Amazing! Great place, for a great night?or brunch.

  • Pros: Ambience, Food, Drinks, Beer List, Outdoor Seating
  • Cons: Slower Service
