Romantic and fun
by roysanjing1
What a fun place, my wife and I always eat at Divan. I love the atmosphere. It reminds me of a small version of Buddha Bar. It is cozy and very romantic. The food is superb and the service is great.
- Pros: great food, upscale
Great place for relaxing

Who knew Buckhead was so cool!!!? From the second we walked in the door, Divan reminded us of cool spots of San Francisco. This place has a very cool vibe, it is upscale, and has excellent food and service. The host was also extremely nice and friendly. We didn't have a reservation. And, he tried to get us a table on a busy Saturday night. We had to wait about an hour for our table. The host brought us a couple of drinks on the house which was a very nice gesture.
Overall I intend to go back there soon. Of course, I will make a reservation ahead next time.
- Pros: cool vibe, very upscale, excellet food and service
- Cons: too small
AWESOME place!

I frequent Divan because it is such a cool place! I was there last saturday with a group and everyone had a great time! The waitresses are not only attractive but extremely helpful, we had different girls check on us several times throughout the evening even though we werent their table. The food is amazing, the kabobs are reasonable and good portions, deserts are incredible.
I found that when ONE disgruntal guest has a semi bad experience they will lash out like the prior reviews.....its probably the same person writing over and over again.
YES, there is a dress code, but come on, this is a nice place and most places like this will not let you in with shorts and flip flops and it seems people would know that if they are going out on a special occasion. The staff is amazing, they will sit at your table and talk to your whole group about whatever is going on, they will even give you their personal numbers to call them directly next time you want to come in and reserve a table!
The bad decision that haunted me

My first thought when arriving at Divan was "Is this a Brothel or a restaurant?" but after entering the house I realized that all the prostitutes must be downstairs. The atmosphere is my biggest complaint other than the rude bar tender and wait staff. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and it was awful. Him not getting layed that night is the direct fault of this snobby "restaurant". I'm not even sure what to call it because the food was in small portions and tasteless. If you ever want to get layed again don't take your girl or anyone to this place!
- Pros: none
- Cons: many
dont waste money

First off the restaurant itself looked like a shack in the middle of piedmont. It was raining outside, and we didnt want to pay for valet parking, so we were made walk in the rain. The host was rude and condescending and the waitress seemed to be high on something. She seemed spaced out and talked in a baby voice. The only thing going for her was looks which is probably why she was hired. When we stated that we did not have a reservation, the host looked at us with such scorn that I thought he was going to explode. They put our group (it was my best friends birthday) at this cramped little table away from everything. I was practically on top of my friend...they need to get bigger tables. No one was in the place at all I mean they could have given us a better table. The atmoshere was horrendous. We didnt even get to try their food (which I imagine would be horrible since the restaurant itself smelled like sh*t) because we got kicked out for wearing shorts. It was 80 degrees outside and were in atlanta!! Were in a recession for Christs sake, these people need to learn how to treat potential customers right instead of acting like pretentious snobs.
This place was the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. I would rather die a thousand fiery deaths than ever be dragged to that hole again!! Go to Darvish on mansell, that place is awesome! DOWN WITH DIVAN!!!
- Pros: NOTHING
- Cons: EVERYTHING
I was so disapointed
by kendallac
the staff was very rude to me and my party. Also it was my birthday and no free dessert. Our waitress was really stuck up just like the rest of the staff. I took rudeness to be the theme of the whole place. oh yeah there is a dress code so make sure not to wear anything comfortable.
- Pros: interesting location
- Cons: rude staff, high priecs and poor food quality
good food, bad experience

I was there a few days ago, and all I can say is that they are awful. Well. let's be honest, food was very good, but the waiter was so rude and careless(had problem communicating I believe).
Overall, I don't think I would recommend anyone to go to this place!
Awesome drinks and hot server!!
by ghamilton0808
We took a buddy that had never done the hookhah before and he was pretty impressed with it. Our server recommended the long islands and they were great, she said the guy that was bartending was one of the best they have, no arguements. Service was awesome our server was really nice and sat and talked with us a little, come to find out she goes to the GSU with us. We would recommend this place for college students looking for a cool place to hang and have great drinks.
Romantic, Fun, Great Food!

Although the service was lacking (very slow and uncaring), we had a wonderful dinner (celebrating a birthday) and romantic evening. Divan has very good food, and the atmosphere is indeed cozy. Make sure you do not wear a short dress or skirt because the tables are very low to the floor! Divan's interior decor is beautiful, with pillows, fabrics, and low lighting, it is a great date spot. I will return just to have the Duck Leg Confit appetizer again. The duck is some of the best in Atlanta. It is seasoned just right with a mix of cilantro, sage oil, and blackberries. It falls right off the bone and is not too soggy, the boyfriend loved it and he is not a regular fan of duck. The Six Spice Potatoes are pretty good, they have a spicy little kick. We had the Shish and Lamb Kabobs for dinner. The meat could have used a little more spice but the delicious basmati and saffron rice made up for it. We skipped dessert and ordered the strawberry flavored hookah which was fun. It was a pricey date, but worth it, we will definitely return to Divan for another fun night and to try more of the cuisine.
We recently visited Divan again on 3/6/09 and it was wonderful! Again, they have the best duck ever! I can not describe to you how delectable the Duck Leg Confit starter is. This time the service was much better, from the hosts to the actual server. We were very well taken care of! Divan has some of the best food around. If you like seafood the Tilapia dish is well prepared. There are so many delicious flavors infused in one. The fish is cooked perfectly, tender in the inside and full of flavor and just the right amount of crispiness on the outside. I have never liked the taste of dill, but on this fish dish it is just right. The shish kabobs this time around were also delicious. We can not wait to go back to Divan and probably will for every special occasion!
- Pros: Great Food, Interesting Venue, Romantic, Cozy
- Cons: Service Could be Better
