Taco shack on the decline in EAV.
by Jonathan Baker at Citysearch
In Short
In what started out as the hot-new-joint in EAV, known for quality tacos, strong margs and no-frills service, Casita has cooled as the years have passed. A mix of neighborhood hipsters and families seeking a casual environment still frequent the old, house-of-a space, but inconsistency and an on-again-off-again liquor license has made for a Jekyll and Hyde experience. Fiery Mexican dishes are easy crowd pleasers, as are the affordable price tags. Chips and salsa arrive quickly, but the smoky dip has now been replaced by a generic Pace-like imitation. Tacos go soft vs hard shells and while still filled with SoCal-style pulled pork and tilapia, an Americanized (buffalo chicken, cheese steak) menu makes this seem like the unfortunate second coming of Tin Lizzy’s. The red mole pork tamales, once the backbone of the menu, are now a sad afterthought. It’s downhill from here.
El Terrible

Resonse to Totallyawesome(works there) Speaking of ignorant your response to previous poster is the epitome of it. It seems you must work there as you feel it necessary to bash anyone who exercises their right to express an opinion. I have always found that the food at La Casita was underwhelming, and many times bordered on "who cares" seasoning and presentation from the kitchen. I have been seved stale chips and been made to wait by the hostess on many occasions. But I guess you will respond with an attack because it goes against what you think. In my opinion La casita is a below average restaurant.
- Pros: Easy walk if you live in EAV
- Cons: Everything else
Fabulous Mexican Food and drinks!!
by TotallyAwesome at Citysearch
They have a new menu! It looks and taste awesome! And Btw...I don't work there. It would be incredible to wait tables in my own neighborhood, but instead I am forced to read critics from an array of publically read/reviewed sites in the metro-Atlanta area. Either way, I give La Casita 2 thumbs up!
won't be returning

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - we were the first people in the restaurant that day. But, really?? The food was disappointing. The chips were stale, our drinks never got refilled (probably because the server never came back to check on us), and I hardly touched my food-it was pretty bad. When you can look into the kitchen, and see that the guy cooking is not mexican...not a good sign!! We'll stick to El Azteca, where the chips are free, the service is always good, and the food is consistently good. How can you screw up Mexican?
- Pros: we had a coupon
- Cons: food
Dreadful Margaritas!
by mannerton at Citysearch
I've been there a few times and like their carnitas...and thought I remembered them having good margaritas. I took an out-of-town guest there today and ordered a pitcher of margaritas. They were very bad...watered down, bland...so bad we couldn't even finish them. When I told the waitress, she said it was because we had ordered the house margaritas, and that these couldn't have been watered down...they were from a machine!!!
Meh.

Enchiladas were alright, I guess. The chicken is really tender and marinated in something. Got a side of pinto beans that came in a cup that was basically full of "bean juice" and not enough beans. Something small, hard, and inedible was found and splt (why can't i say sp1t?) out. Pretty cheap though, I guess. I think i prefer Blue Frog Cantina when it comes to EAV.
- Pros: Cheap-ish.
- Cons: Not that great.
really? really?????

walked in to a lame evening of children screaming and drunks at the bar... margaritas were tasteless, sopes were like rocks sinking fast to my gastro-lake, I was starving, disappointed and ready to get mad when the guy behind the bar started making truly tasteless jokes and made me laugh. Not a place I'd go for food, especially mexican but the beer was cold and although the jokes were in bad taste, what else do you want from a after work taco.
- Pros: sense of humor
- Cons: food
Good Food

Food was good not what I was expecting though. Seemed to be concept Mexican. Margarita was salty, but did the trick.
Best Mexican in Atlanta
by kimbenn at Citysearch
We've visited this restaurant twice and the food was excellent both times. It's a small place, not suitable for large groups, but it's perfect for small groups and couples. If you love AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine, then this is the place to be. I love tamales and have tried them at many restaurants in the Atlanta area. This restaurant has the best tamales I've tasted since I've been in Atlanta. They offer tamales with both the red and green sauce (which is a first for this area). Of course I had both, and they were great! This is definitely one of my favorite places now!
Hot Fun In The Summertime @ East Atlanta Village, and Good Mexican Also!
by jaymaygm at Citysearch
East Atlanta Village, is a neighborhood we need to come to more often. Like a young Inman Park, Decatur, or Little Five Points. Great funky shops, bars, and little restaurants. It was hot, Friday night, and we needed a good Margarita, and some good Mexican. This cantina, filled the bill. Good Marg's, good food, and great prices. The taco's were tasty, double wrapped, and the Talapia w/Cabbage, and Poblano Cream was our fave. The pulled pork and grilled carne asada were good also. Another couple, with us, had the pork tamales w/green chili, and they were nice and spicy. And the great prices, more than made up, for the touch and go service. It was really more go, than touch. But it was hot, we were hungry, and the prices were right!
- Pros: Tasty Taco's, Tamale's, and Marg's! Great Prices!
- Cons: Lacking In Service, But At These Prices, Who Cares!
