Exceptional!!!

by neatomosquito

What a delightful evening. We were greeted by the host, Robert Payne. What a charming lovely man. Yes, he did bring a stool for my pocketbook to rest on which was pretty darn convenient by the way!! The restaurant was beautiful with real linens on the table. So.....we start off with Robert and then meet the wait staff. All (I think there were maybe 3) were very nice, welcoming and friendly. A+ there folks. Oh, also very skilled. The service moved along at a perfect pace with the wine coming out a little bit before the course so we could enjoy a sip or two before the food. They were also concerned about our driving home. No silly, not because we were tipsy, just because they knew they'd served multiple courses of wine. I kept the pours small and drank a bunch of water and all was well. That being said, next time we're taking a cab! OK, now food. Well, I didn't give it five stars for nothin'. Each course was impeccable and complex. I'd love to see the chef's pantry! The steak (me not a big red meat eater mind you) was absolutely superb. The outside was crusty, the inside rare and as tender as can be imagined. But really, it would be unfair to single out one course or item because they were all sensational. The evening in total was hugely successful. We will be back as soon as we can. They also have a really nice private room. Robert said that you can work with the chef to put together a menu etc... We're keeping that in mind for an impending visit from business associates. We're quite sure that our guests would be as dazzled by this place as we were.

Anne's New Southern Cuisine! Mama's Biscuit's !

by jaymaygm

Being a native Southerner, Atlantan, I've never forgotten my roots. I still go to Mary Mac's Tea Room, The Colonnade, and Son's Place, on a regular basis. But just a few years back, Southern Cuisine has emerged in the form of South City Kitchen, Watershed, those Tuesday night's with Scott Peacock's fried chicken, and a couple of others. Mainly Restaurant Eugene and the newly opened Saga. We've always been a fan of Anne Quatrano, and her restaurnts. This was our first trip to Quinones. and her new Southern charm. It's presented in eight to ten small plate courses, prix fixed menu with wine parings. And most the vegetables are from her organic farm in Cartersville. We started with a wonderful Corn Custard with Pancetta. Followed by terrific Pan Seared Scallops with a Potato Risotto Cake. It was like a tasty Potato Latkes. My partner had a wonderful New York Strip, with a lovely veggie selection. We finished the whole thing off , with a Frozen Lemon Custard/Blueberries. But what really pulled eveything together, were the Homemade Biscuit's. I asked Anne what made them so light and fluffy, and she said "lard". Only a Southerner knows what that is, and it's not schmaltz! Anne truly knows the basics of great Southern, New Southern Cuisine, starting with those amazing biscuit's. Great service, yes expensive, but we loved every minute of it.

  • Pros: Orgaincally Grown Georgia Vegetables! Homemade Biscuit's!
  • Cons: Expensive, But You Get What You Pay For!

One of Atlanta's Finest

by hbuffington

One of the most outstanding dining experiences I have ever had. The food was absolutely superb from the first course to the last, and was presented in an elegant but unstuffy fashion: the table was a work of art. The wait-staff was super attentive but not intrusive -- they anticipated our every need but did not get in the way. (I was even escorted to the restroom.) The only down-side, if there is one, is that their wine/food pairing (while better than what one finds in most restaurants) leaves a bit to be desired. Though worth mentioning, this is minor compared to the many positives. I have eaten at many fine restaurants around the world, and this one rates right up there with the best. If you are looking for an elegant meal where you are pampered from the minute you step in the door to the minute you leave, you cannot go wrong by choosing Quinones at Bacchanalia

Amazing food, service, atmoshphere

by sweepea

Our dinner at Quinones was absolutely incredible! There were six of us, and each and every one of us enjoyed our meal immensly! We were there a few hours, savoring every aspect of every course. Not one of us had anything that did not taste fresh, and the amuses were a very special treat. Everything from the scallops to the foie gras to the madelines were so full of flavor. We did have one vegan at our table, and with advance notice, they were able to completely accomodate and satisfy his appetite. We did not have the wine pairing, opting to choose from their wine list ourselves. The service was impeccable, unassuming and fun. The maitre'd was so amusing (and incredibly handsome) and so professional. They give women a little stool to put their handbags on, and if it's chilly out and you need to step outside, they also give women a pashmina to use. The restaurant is so, so beautiful, too! Yes, the $95 is steep, but it was $95 well spent. I encourage anyone who can go to do so. Bon Appetit!

Quinones - not recommended!

by alanhotatl

Quinones has been open for a little over a year and is touted to be on par with the Dining Room at the Ritz or Seegers. This is not the case at all. Service was efficient, curt, but not pleasant. In addiiton, although the server asked us to review the night's prix fixe listing to see if it was to our liking, they were unable to substitue a fresh fish course for the one returned because the fish smelled strongly . Overall, all the seafood dishes were less than fresh, a sin considering the number of great (and truly fresh) seafood restuarants in Atlanta. Coupled with the fact that the prix fixe menu, sans wines, is $95, this is impossible to imagine. For the two of us who chose the wine pairings with dinner ($165 per person), the wines were poorly matched with the food (a pale Italian table red with a rare piece of New York strip? ) and often of poor quality (an undrinkable dessert wine!). Indeed, two of us had pieces of steak that were almost uneatable with grisley marbling. And who serves steak and a tiny piece of very average short rib in a huge high rimmed BOWL?!? Although the pleasant atmosphere is a great stage for a great meal, the meal just wasn't there. And imagine paying nearly $400 a couple for dinner and having to walk outside the restaurant and down to a generic, strip center restroom of barely acceptable quality! A total disappointment. Head to the Ritz!
