WHERE AS THE GLOBE GONE TO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by EATALOTS at Citysearch
My family and I were avid visitors to the Globe; However, it will be awhile if at all that i will ever return after my last experience. it's now about DJ's, LateNite and higher prices, and less focus on the FOOD and attention to details. Now, when you go there the place seen as if no one is steering the ship. The bar is no place for the chef to be hanging out drinking the kitchen needs you, get back to what made this place one of Atlanta's best and find someone to lead upfront. WHAT A SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall, not a great experience

Visited The Globe recently with two others; we had been looking forward to checking this restaurant out and were quite disappointed. Menu was interesting on paper but did not quite come through at the table (for ex., my entree was pasta w/ braised short ribs and swiss chard...lacked seasoning and short ribs were dry and stringy). The manager appeared to hate his job; he walked around with his arms crossed and scowling. We had to request replacement silverware (twice) after it had been removed between courses and were made to feel that by doing so we were truley putting someone out(by the same aforementioned manager). There was a server who was doing a great job (she wasn't even our server); she was hospitable and friendly, with lots of energy. If you happen to go here, please only let Joy take care of you. Otherwise...who knows; you'll probably have the same barely mediocre experience we had. Although, I'm pretty sure she can't do much about the menu and it's very proud pricing.
Seriously Overrated

I'd heard such great things about this place--now I have no idea why. It was one of the worst meals I've had in forever and the service was nothing special. The only good part of my meal was the $9 mojito that was made with vodka instead of rum (forget the fancy name they gave it).
I shared two entrees with my friend--the chicken and the seared tuna. The chicken was so dry I couldn't eat more than about 2 bites and had very little flavor--it was HORRIBLE. For the tuna, the waiter asked us if we'd like it medium rare, which I thought was odd since the best way to have good quality seared tuna is rare. But my friend said she preferred medium rare, so I went with that. It came out completely brown, cooked all the way through, not even close to medium rare. And it looked, felt, and tasted like shoe leather. There was no seasoning of any kind on it.
The service: my friend made a reservation and when we got there we were told that there was a private party inside so we would be seated outside. We were not given a choice and no one bothered to tell my friend that outside would be our only option when he made the reservation. Shortly after we were served our main course, it was clear that it was going to start pouring any second. So, we asked the waiter if they'd be able to move us inside before the rain started. He told us not to worry, if the rain came they'd move us. Huh? How about *before* it starts to rain? So, we continued to eat, and we felt the first huge rain drop and no one came by, we picked up all of our food, drinks, etc. and moved ourselves to a table outside but somewhat protected. The waiter comes over and says "how smart"!! We should not have had to take this on ourselves, they should have seated us somewhere else at our first mention of the rain.
- Pros: Drinks, nothing else
- Cons: Food was overcooked and tasteless, service was not impressive
Salt d'jour, more water please

It is always obvious within a few minutes of being in a "pretender" restaurant. The Globe fits this description to a tee. Maybe it is the lack of knowledge/conviction that you feel from your server, maybe it is the cheesy decor that just screams "we're trying really hard for an atmosphere here!!" or maybe it is as simple as the inedible food that is set before you. It is rare that I have ever contemplated sending my food back to the kitchen-and while I didn't do it this night, I should have. After two completely uninteresting appetizers, the Duck that I had ordered pushed my sodium nitrate tolerances to the brink of destruction.
Please, don't be allured by the many beautiful "globes" hanging about like deadly Sirens-the only thing they will bring you is a belly ache.
Great Atmospere. Mediocre Food. Lousy Service / Management.

My firm has had 2 happy hours at Globe and I've had a couple lunch meetings there because of its convenience to my client. Its a nice atmosphere. Makes for great pictures. Drinks were pretty good. Food was much better reading on the menu than actual eating.
The final encounter was my most recent visit when i was meeting a prospective recruit there and he was stuck in traffic so I sat with the intention of having an appetizer and a drink. Except no one would greet or take my order. And the restaurant was empty except for a couple tables and a woman at the bar. I sat there for 45 mins and neither the owner, hostess or server even greeted me. And then...when I finally thought someone was going to help me...the owner said "excuse me sir, can you move to a table? We're about to set up a band." I responded "I'll just leave, Ive been waiting 45 mins." He shrugged his shoulders and walked away... Wow...
watch out and do the math!!! because i will NEVER EVER go anywhere near this place

where do i even begin? we went for my birthday bash, 1st we call and they say that i cant bring my special ordered cake to the restaurant b/c they said their chef needs to stay in business. my fiance called and asked again about the cake, then they said that its ok to bring the cake & they will charge $2.50/guest. we get there and we have 8 people and we cant choose where we want to sit, they attitudes of all the workers was very bad, and they acted like they were doing US a favor. they brought the cake, but covered the picture on the cake with the 2 candles (destroyed the cake)!!! and brought us spoons instead of desert forks to eat the cake with...??? then they give the check and they charged us more for the cake than $2.50/guest AND WHEN WE ADDED THE TOTAL OURSELVES IT WAS LESS THAN THE CHECK AMOUNT THEY HAD, EVEN COUNTING THE TAX. so we told them this check is totally WRONG and they bring another check that is MORE EXPENSIVE BUT THIS TIME WITH 20% TIP ADDED. if a restaurant is to do that standard, they have to charge 18% not 20%! they wouldnt splint the checks for us and made me to math for 15 minutes on my birthday when i was just trying to relax. and there is actually even more to this experience, but me and my fiance talked to one of the partners of the biz and explained our experience and this is all he said "ohh, im sorry you feel that way". i was stunned, we spent almost $300 at this place, and i will never come and never recommend. think about it this way: a restaurant that looks that good, no one has ever heard of. Why? because if it were a good one, then people would recognize the name of the restaurant.
- Pros: nothing after my experience for my birthday
- Cons: service, food, and service again
You have got to be kidding

I went with a large group. We ordered everything. The tuna and lentils was very good, but the rest of the food was not good. Our server was completely clueless. She was never around. We waited for glassware, wine, food, and the check. I do not understand why people like this place. The lights are turned all the way up, and the food and service was some of the worst I have experienced.
- Pros: who knows?
- Cons: bad food, bad service, rude server
