pretty good food but not great

by frankhyunh at Citysearch

Went here for lunch and while it's relatively affordable, I didn't think it was too spectacular. Dessert was good though!

Good food, too long of a wait

by lizard2006 at Citysearch

I loved the decor but it was a little too monochrome. I splash of color here or there would have been nice. The service was okay but we waited over an hour for our meals. The ship cakes were not to be missed. THANK YOU for placing a bottle of water on the table, nice touch and I loved that no two were the same. I liked that the manager was attentive.

  • Pros: Good Food and water on the table
  • Cons: food took too long and I've heard this is a common issue here

Chic urban canteen in Midtown with bistro fare that won't break the budget.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Located in the newly thriving, pedestrian-friendly "Biltmore district" across from Barnes & Noble, this spot, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, is populated by hipsters, neighborhood dwellers and office workers. Think mod interiors: a spare, groovy cafeteria with white, sage, mustard and gray accents--and a library room complete with books. Service is swift and the young staffers are brainy without being haughty.

The Food
Accomplished chef Joshua Perkins' inventive starters include the rice flour-coated veggie tempura frites, heirloom tomato and chevre, and grilled Georgia peaches with Serrano and Spanish blue cheese. All succeed with clean, fresh flavors but skip the soggy Belgian frites and steak skewers. The light pan-sauteed grouper with tomatoes and cucumber trumps the duck. Save room for decadent desserts made in-house: the mixed berry cobbler has a perfect, feathery crust and the rum-glazed pineapple upside down cake is not too sweet.

Food was geat!

by jimmyh99 at Citysearch

We had a party of six with reservations and were seated right away. The appetizers were excellent and the food was great. I had the veal and beyond a doubt the best I have ever had. I would recommend this place to anyone. Nice crowd also.

  • Pros: Food was good and service was good.

Why the hype?

by emcatt at Citysearch

My beau and I had great expectations for this place and were sadly very disappointed. We ordered entrees, an appetizer, and wine. The drinks were small (although tasty) and not worth the price - expect to buy two glasses of wine if you only want one, or two to three mojitos if you want one, since they're very small and run about $8-10 each. My salmon plate was soaked in oil, was not good, and left me hungry. My boyfriend had chicken that was equally unappetizing. Decor is "hip" but looks like a cheap IKEA-ish cafeteria. Overall we left unsatisfied, still hungry, and feeling ripped off. Never again.

  • Pros: Trendy, nice outdoor area
  • Cons: Food was bad, drinks are small and expensive

Reservations and Service Mean Nothing Here

by csag4910 at Citysearch

We had reservations for five and it still took 30-40 minutes to seat us and it really wasn't that busy. In the meantime, we sat at the bar and proceeded to wait another 10 minutes for the bartender to come by and get our drink orders...again not that busy. Mixed nuts were in front of the folks to the left and right of us and so we asked for a bowl. The bartender asked the man sitting to the right of us if we could have some of his! When we finally got seated the service was very sparse and when the waiter was around he had a chip on his shoulder. The food was decent but wasn't worth the wait, lack of service, rudeness, etc.

The best quality chicken in town!

by karenfharper at Citysearch

My daughter and I immensely enjoyed the organic baken chicken dish last night. Very moist and delicately flavored, the mash potatos were as good as my mom's, and nice baby seasonal vegetables. I have visited the restaurant many times, enjoying mostly the wonderful fish entress, but the chicken is a sure bet as well. Keep up the great work - consistency throughout!
