Salt d'jour, more water please
by xgirl307 at Citysearch
It is always obvious within a few minutes of being in a "pretender" restaurant. The Globe fits this description to a tee. Maybe it is the lack of knowledge/conviction that you feel from your server, maybe it is the cheesy decor that just screams "we're trying really hard for an atmosphere here!!" or maybe it is as simple as the inedible food that is set before you. It is rare that I have ever contemplated sending my food back to the kitchen-and while I didn't do it this night, I should have. After two completely uninteresting appetizers, the Duck that I had ordered pushed my sodium nitrate tolerances to the brink of destruction.
Please, don't be allured by the many beautiful "globes" hanging about like deadly Sirens-the only thing they will bring you is a belly ache.
Great Atmospere. Mediocre Food. Lousy Service / Management.

My firm has had 2 happy hours at Globe and I've had a couple lunch meetings there because of its convenience to my client. Its a nice atmosphere. Makes for great pictures. Drinks were pretty good. Food was much better reading on the menu than actual eating.
The final encounter was my most recent visit when i was meeting a prospective recruit there and he was stuck in traffic so I sat with the intention of having an appetizer and a drink. Except no one would greet or take my order. And the restaurant was empty except for a couple tables and a woman at the bar. I sat there for 45 mins and neither the owner, hostess or server even greeted me. And then...when I finally thought someone was going to help me...the owner said "excuse me sir, can you move to a table? We're about to set up a band." I responded "I'll just leave, Ive been waiting 45 mins." He shrugged his shoulders and walked away... Wow...
Great for Lunch, after work and dinner

Last night I went to the 2nd anniversary party for the Globe. My entree was the duck and it was so tender it melted in my mouth. The staff was very attentive. The crowd was nice and relaxed and consisted of a nice mix of students from Georgia Tech, ladies who lunch and people who work in the area. I will make this my place for after work with friends.
- Pros: ambience, service and great food
Excellent Small Plates/Pear Martini's! Hip Industrial Midtown Atmosphere!
by jaymaygm at Citysearch
The Globe is too cool. Industrial, hip, creative small plates, and drinks you won't find anywhere else. The Pear Martini's won us over. It's just usually a casual non-dressy Wednenday night out, with an assortment of great small plates. We always start with Tempura Frittes-asparagus, green beans, mushrooms w/ lemon aioli. Then we have them bring it all on at once, Gulf Shrimp Cakes w/Mango Salsa, Chorizo Stuffed Dates, and my personal favorite, Salt Cod & Garlic Potato Croquettes w/verde salsa. It's a meal, a great drink, and good conversation, that says this is where Midtown is. Great Weekend Brunch also.
- Pros: Excellent Small Plates & Drinks! Fun Service & Environment!
- Cons: Parking can be a little confusing at first, Safe!
Love it.

Its always a pleasure to dine at the Globe. The ambiance is modern and stylish but completely unforced. I feel equally comfortable dressed nicely or casually. I highly suggest trying the weekend brunch - the mango lassi is a craving of mine as well as the simple "blue plate" (eggs, bacon, latka) done up right. The menu changes periodically with the seasons or expanding tastes and is always sporting a surprise or two. I recently tried a cod dish similar to baccalau but with medjool dates, parsnips and gnocci which was amazing (better than on my trip to Portugal!) I eat there often and really appreciate such a cultured yet cozy addition to the Atlanta restaurant scene.
- Pros: Free Midtown Parking, Cultured Menu, Weekend Brunch
- Cons: Busy at times
Salt lick

I went to the Globe for a late lunch and had a good experience at the bar... took the two starters and a house wine offer, of course, I also had dessert. It was quick, no one fussed at me, it was just what I wanted.
Since I had a good experience, I decided to go for dinner, bringing a friend of mine. Since I ranted and raved about the starter package, we both decided to do that... only to be told by our server that the only house wines the Globe offers are a "cabernet" or a "chardonnay" (distinctively, I had a house sauvignon blanc the first time I visited). Promptly "put in our place" we were served lukewarm, salt-licking-good starters... I had the duck leg (which I enjoyed the first time) and the lamb ribs. HORRIBLE. Burnt, crispy, salty none moving animal parts. My friend had the olives/ cheese and angus steak?. We were both mortified.
I can't say I'll be back anytime soon... ok, maybe one last time for lunch... to sit at the bar.
- Pros: Decor, ambiance
- Cons: Food, service
watch out and do the math!!! because i will NEVER EVER go anywhere near this place

where do i even begin? we went for my birthday bash, 1st we call and they say that i cant bring my special ordered cake to the restaurant b/c they said their chef needs to stay in business. my fiance called and asked again about the cake, then they said that its ok to bring the cake & they will charge $2.50/guest. we get there and we have 8 people and we cant choose where we want to sit, they attitudes of all the workers was very bad, and they acted like they were doing US a favor. they brought the cake, but covered the picture on the cake with the 2 candles (destroyed the cake)!!! and brought us spoons instead of desert forks to eat the cake with...??? then they give the check and they charged us more for the cake than $2.50/guest AND WHEN WE ADDED THE TOTAL OURSELVES IT WAS LESS THAN THE CHECK AMOUNT THEY HAD, EVEN COUNTING THE TAX. so we told them this check is totally WRONG and they bring another check that is MORE EXPENSIVE BUT THIS TIME WITH 20% TIP ADDED. if a restaurant is to do that standard, they have to charge 18% not 20%! they wouldnt splint the checks for us and made me to math for 15 minutes on my birthday when i was just trying to relax. and there is actually even more to this experience, but me and my fiance talked to one of the partners of the biz and explained our experience and this is all he said "ohh, im sorry you feel that way". i was stunned, we spent almost $300 at this place, and i will never come and never recommend. think about it this way: a restaurant that looks that good, no one has ever heard of. Why? because if it were a good one, then people would recognize the name of the restaurant.
- Pros: nothing after my experience for my birthday
- Cons: service, food, and service again
great lunch menu

Good food, good atmosphere

No complaints. Quality food, friendly service. The deal with wine and two 1/2 apps was nice way to get a taste of some different items. Mangotini was great as well.
- Pros: food, location
- Cons: none
Why bother...
by csaxon13 at Citysearch
I've had dinner at The Globe once before and it was fair. We decided to go again because of its proximity to an event for which we had tickets, so we made reservations. Half an hour after our reservation time, we still were not seated and ended up eating at a sandwich shop in order to make it to our event on time. High pretense from the staff of this unremarkable spot. Don't waste your time--or judging by their attitude, they'd say not to waste theirs...
- Pros: Nicely decorated.
- Cons: Pretentious host. People having "relations" in bathroom stall.
