where do i even begin? we went for my birthday bash, 1st we call and they say that i cant bring my special ordered cake to the restaurant b/c they said their chef needs to stay in business. my fiance called and asked again about the cake, then they said that its ok to bring the cake & they will charge $2.50/guest. we get there and we have 8 people and we cant choose where we want to sit, they attitudes of all the workers was very bad, and they acted like they were doing US a favor. they brought the cake, but covered the picture on the cake with the 2 candles (destroyed the cake)!!! and brought us spoons instead of desert forks to eat the cake with...??? then they give the check and they charged us more for the cake than $2.50/guest AND WHEN WE ADDED THE TOTAL OURSELVES IT WAS LESS THAN THE CHECK AMOUNT THEY HAD, EVEN COUNTING THE TAX. so we told them this check is totally WRONG and they bring another check that is MORE EXPENSIVE BUT THIS TIME WITH 20% TIP ADDED. if a restaurant is to do that standard, they have to charge 18% not 20%! they wouldnt splint the checks for us and made me to math for 15 minutes on my birthday when i was just trying to relax. and there is actually even more to this experience, but me and my fiance talked to one of the partners of the biz and explained our experience and this is all he said "ohh, im sorry you feel that way". i was stunned, we spent almost $300 at this place, and i will never come and never recommend. think about it this way: a restaurant that looks that good, no one has ever heard of. Why? because if it were a good one, then people would recognize the name of the restaurant.

  • Pros: nothing after my experience for my birthday
  • Cons: service, food, and service again

The Globe has amazing food, great alcohol selection and a neat vibe. It's a wonderful place to host a private party in the library, as we did for our engagement party. I've tried almost everything on the menu and I have NEVER been dissapointed.

Went on Saturday night. Hard to talk about much of anything since it was a fairly blah experience. Oh, wait.....I thought the restaurant looked really cool. There was a feeling of privacy due to simple curtains hung here and there. Other than that I'm back to average. Food you ask? For the starter I had the barely touched scallops. Paper thin raw scallops served with olive oil, sea salt, a little garlic, or at least I think so. Me being a sushi eater didn't find anything exciting there and the presentation on a really nice but way too small plate was abysmal. Main, lemon ricotta ravioli. Nice helping of the stuff and there was lots of fresh green stuff like parsley etc...on it but otherwise....nothing of note to report. Dessert. Boy, if a restaurant can't take advantage of every opportunity to make desserts looks spectacular then they're just plain goofy. I had some sort of lemon cheesecake, or so I thought, that was actually a lemon cake served with a dollop of whipped cream thrown, and I mean thrown on the top. No effort at presentation. Smells of "I don't care" to me. So, with a party of 4, the general consensus was that we weren't going to head back there any time soon, if ever. Too many other great places to eat in ATL.

  • Pros: Cool Interior Space
  • Cons: No one thing....just nothing notable to make me want to go back

I work near the Globe and have been wanting to try having dinner there. So my wife and I went Friday night. The atmosphere is nice and the service we received was very good and relaxed. The overall experience was enjoyable...but the food was disappointing. For the price the food just didn't measure up. If the prices were 1/2 then it would have been just OK. Oh and a glass of wine was $10 or more. I wanted to listen to the live jazz featured on Friday nights but the band was playing outside...where it was really hot. So we decided to sit inside where it was nice and cool instead. So I didn't get to hear the band which would have made up for the poor quality and over priced food. I should give an example of the food issue...we both ordered summer salads...which were very well presented and included edamame, asparagus, tomatoes and cheese on top of a piece of bread. It looked really good. Only the bread was so hard...really hard...we couldn't cut it with our knife. I just picked mine up and chewed it by hand. My whole wheat penne pasta dish was just OK. On the plus side my wife really liked her onion soup. It just isn't a place we will ever return to. If the food was significantly better we would definitely return. Or if the food was 1/2 the price we might return. Oh well luckily there are many many great places to eat out n Atlanta.

  • Pros: Service, pleasant environment, convient location
  • Cons: limited food choices, over priced food and wine by the glass, food not that good

My husband and I both work in midtown, and we decided it was time to try the Globe for dinner (We both have taken clients there for lunch and have never been disappointed). WOW. We got there around 6:30 and the place was buzzing with a great casual but beautiful vibe. There was an artist sketching live models in one corner of the lounge area, and the bar was full of gorgeous people. We wanted to have a drink in the lounge, and the amazingly genuine bartender offered us the wine tasting. HOW COOL! For $15 each we got a taste of 4 different wines with 4 different--very creative-- "bites" of food. And dinner was even better!! Our waitress told us that they had just changed over to their summer menu, and we both loved our meals (and if you go you MUST finish with the ricotta strawberry shortcake thing!)

GO GO GO to the Globe, I can't believe we waited this long!!!

  • Pros: Ambience, Service, Food

After reading raving reviews from various sources, I high tailed it to Globe. Was not impressed. Went again for a business event. Still not impressed. Again, at the request of a friend for a get-together and still no big deal. The drinks weren't bad and were probably the factor that made each of my visits do-able. The food on the other hand was not up to par. I tried something different each time and nibbled on entrees of my company. In short, nothing I tasted was tasty and lacked the pazzazz factor that I expected after all the hype. It seems that a great restaurant rating is achieved my merely having a contemporary look, a dj, alcohol and alot of people. What about the food?

My family and I were avid visitors to the Globe; However, it will be awhile if at all that i will ever return after my last experience. it's now about DJ's, LateNite and higher prices, and less focus on the FOOD and attention to details. Now, when you go there the place seen as if no one is steering the ship. The bar is no place for the chef to be hanging out drinking the kitchen needs you, get back to what made this place one of Atlanta's best and find someone to lead upfront. WHAT A SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Visited The Globe recently with two others; we had been looking forward to checking this restaurant out and were quite disappointed. Menu was interesting on paper but did not quite come through at the table (for ex., my entree was pasta w/ braised short ribs and swiss chard...lacked seasoning and short ribs were dry and stringy). The manager appeared to hate his job; he walked around with his arms crossed and scowling. We had to request replacement silverware (twice) after it had been removed between courses and were made to feel that by doing so we were truley putting someone out(by the same aforementioned manager). There was a server who was doing a great job (she wasn't even our server); she was hospitable and friendly, with lots of energy. If you happen to go here, please only let Joy take care of you. Otherwise...who knows; you'll probably have the same barely mediocre experience we had. Although, I'm pretty sure she can't do much about the menu and it's very proud pricing.

Visited The Globe on Sept. 29, 2007. Wait staff was excellent, and very friendly. My husband commented that our waitperson was probably the best one we've had this year, and we eat in nice restaurant often. However... The first two items we looked at for small plates were not available because they didn't have the ingredients to make them. The items we did get were the pasta with duck (dry, not much flavor), the crabcakes (OK, but not great), the tempura vegetables (really nice, but skip the sauce that comes with them), the pineapple cake (OK, but not as good as I make at home), cheese/figs/salad (very good). We went in not too terribly hungry, and came out with an $89.52 bill and not real pleased with what we had eaten. The bill included one glass of wine for me, and water for my husband, so alcohol didn't run up the bill - it was just very expensive for not great food. There are a lot of Atlanta restaurants I like better, such as Two Urban Licks, or my absolute favorite One Midtown. They offer small plates that are much better than we had at the Globe.

I visited the Globe for the first time during Restaurant Week in 2006, and it really blew me away. The prices aren't even all that high, so I ended up ordering from the regular menu for what ended up being the same price since I don't really like dessert. The food was good, but the experience was really what I loved about it. The ambiance was cool and refreshing, and our server was really friendly, knowledgeable, and witty. The wine was excellent, too, and served in unpretentious tumblers. The two glasses of wine and an appetizer deal is perfect for an after-work drink. If this place weren't out near GATech I'd be there more often!

  • Pros: Ambiance, service, house wine.
  • Cons: Location.
