Cavern is great...if you are lookling for trouble

by yorkje003

This bar is terrible. Crowded, and dumb emory girls think they can come and own the place. Got news for them...this is not Connecticut. Be careful in this place as the management is totally unprofessional.,

  • Pros: nothing
  • Cons: underage kids who think they deserve something

This dark, Highland watering hole is littered with loud music, stiff drinks and a good looking crowd.

In Short
The slender storefront of Virginia Highlands bar the Cavern may not be the easiest to spy, but if you follow the blaring bar ballads and 80's rock songs as if you were playing a grown-up game of Marco Polo, chances are you will find it. Cute bartenders man the elongated bar and are eager to serve up their own special concoctions as well as the obligatory Jager bombs and Miller Lites. Perhaps where it derives its name, the Cavern is already one of the loudest bars in the Highlands, and when DJs spin on the weekends, your head will be ringing for two reasons in the morning.

Great hideaway to escape to!

by sweepea

Great place to escape to after work on the weekends. Love that it's not overly crowded, (but will be soon because of the Emory kids), great service and the staff is also pleasant (unlike the surly beyotch at Fontaine's). The drinks are great and not too expensive, and the bathrooms are usually really clean. Have fun and make new friends! See you there!

  • Pros: Great drinks, not too crowded, inexpensive, fun staff
  • Cons: parking and traffic

the Cavern is Awesome!!!

by harmony77

i think it's a breath of fresh air in my otherwise overpopulated town of VaHi....the drinks are cheap, the munchies are above average, and the service staff always remembers me! and because it's all very dark and subdued it's a great place to relax after work. love it!

  • Pros: cheap drinks, good bartender
  • Cons: parking

Go Somewhere Else

by lunchboxlaura

We just moved to the area and were attracted to this place by their outdoor seating area. It's a small area, but at least it's outside. Other than that, the atmosphere is bland at best. Dark, dingy, and unfriendly feeling. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Our bad experience began when the waitress completely ignored us while waiting on other customers. We asked for a menu 4 times and never received one. When we asked for our check, we were given a surly attitude. I'll never go here again.

  • Pros: Outside seating, Cheap, Good location
  • Cons: Bad Service, No Atmosphere
