User Reviews for Balance Yoga

I searched for a studio to practice at through out 2007. I tried different locations between Newnan and Atlanta and different styles of yoga as well. I found my home at Balance. From my first class I was hooked. I knew very little about Ashtanga and after my first class I quickly signed up for their Basics series which I recommend for anyone starting the Ashtanga pracitce. The Basics series helps to educate beginners on the asanas and the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga. A year later and I am further in my practice physically and spirtually than I have ever imagined. I highly recommend this studio for the environment, the teachers and the kindness of the yoga community that attends Balance. Namaste

Pros: Classes offered, Experienced & Kind teachers, welcoming community

I have attended Balance Yoga for almost 3 years and LOVE it! The instructors are all very knowledgable and I have achieved far more than I ever expected. Every class is an incredible workout for the mind and body and you always leave feeling great. There are classes for all levels and the instructors make you comfortable no matter what level you happen to be.

Pros: Feel good atmosphere with friendly and knowledgable instructors

Cons: Changing area is awkward. Not really enough time between classes to change

Balance Yoga is a place for all levels of yoga practitioners. As one who finds yoga very challenging but also very much worth doing, I'm comfortable practicing there even though I'm by no means skilled at yoga. When I walk out of the studio, I feel cleansed, challenged, informed and strengthened. When I'm there, I feel I'm taught by people who really know their stuff. Marcia, from whom I've taken the most classes, is very warm and supportive. I can tell how devoted she is to the practice of yoga and appreciate how much she emphasizes non-judgment; that is, she reminds us to be where we are and to accept what we can do. In this competitive culture of ours, a message like that one is very important. I'm a busy working mom and consider Balance a much needed respite in my busy week; I highly recommend it to both newcomers to yoga and long time yoga folks.

Pros: Classes, Teachers

Cons: Weeknight schedule sometimes limited

Balance yoga and its knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate staff is a jewel of peace and release in the bustle of Buckhead. Each teacher has a distinct style, but without exception they are accessible and welcoming to all levels of practice. The same can be said for the students. Balance yoga is a wonderful environment in which to practice, the beginner can see postures broken down and patiently explained, the more experienced yogi can find challenging sequences and a vigorous workout, and the individual seeking restorative and renewing exercise will find that too. The website is always up to date with the latest class schedule and with three or more classes, seven days a week, you are sure to find what you need. Here I find serenity, acceptance, exertion, strength and pure joy.

Pros: Diverse class offerings, scheduling. Great environment. Accessible instruction

Cons: Limited changing/shower space.

I have been doing yoga for 15 years. I moved to Atlanta three months ago and desperately searched for Ashtanga. I found Balance Yoga and decided to try the studio. The first time I arrived on Sunday morning during the Summer after checking the schedule online the parking lot was empty and the class was not being held. I did a bit of research online to get a phone number to find out when a class was actually being held. When I finally got to an actual class I thought the group of three teachers were great until one of them decided to bring her dog before a class and letting it run loose inside the studio. I figured I'd give it another try until the second teacher started playing rap music during class. Three strikes you're out, right? Well, I went back the fourth time. As I arrived, Masha requested that I change my matt because the one in display was not for rent and hesitantly got me a new mat and block for class. I guess if you're into rap music, dogs and lack of supporting blocks/ropes during your yoga class this $16 class will be worth it for you. This is a yoga studio that substitutes teachers and change class times without updating online.

Pros: Parking

Cons: Service

I had no idea what I was getting into when I went with a friend to my first yoga class last year. The instructors, especially Jen, made me feel comfortable while challenging me at the same time. I am now going to the Intermediate Class and love it. I go twice a week and wish I could go more. Love the studio, and love how the instructors as well as the experienced students aren't "yoga snobs" like I expected and heard about other places.

Pros: Studio, Instructors, Atmosphere

This is undoubtedly the newest and best yoga studio Atlanta has to offer. Best Yoga rooms I've ever been in for Hot Yoga and another studio that is not only beautiful, but feels amazing to practice in. Instruction has been excellent in all the classes I've taken. They have about 8 teachers and 30 or more classes to select from. If you are new to yoga, or have been practicing for years, I don't think you will be disappointed on any front.

Pros: Great Value, Beautiful studios, Awesome Intstruction
