Great Food, good wine & patio

by freqtraveler at Citysearch

We arrived 5 minutes before they opened on a Saturday evening. We were attending a show that evening and they were responsive. The restaurant was smaller than I expected but the atmosphere was good. I was surprised that only one other couple arrived before we left over an hour later. I expected it to be crowded. Anyways, we sat on the patio. The atmosphere would have been great except that it felt like we arrived an hour before they opened. The kitchen staff and waiters were continuously walking through the patio area. At least a couple times, I noticed the kitchen staff standing in the doorway watching us. I chalked it up to them admiring my wife. They were also rearranging tables next to us. They seemed more intent on completing their task than not being disruptive. It was annoying at times. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the atmosphere. It was good. With more attention to detail, it could have been great. The service was good. The food was excellent! The pork chops and lamb were very tasty. The presentation was good as well. With better management, this could be a very good restaurant. Overall, we will probably go back when we visit Atlanta again.

  • Pros: Food, wine list, atmosphere
  • Cons: Attention to detail, management

Good food but less than positive overall experience

by lesterluffa at Citysearch

Ok, so Vine has been on my list of restaurants I wanted to visit for some time. Last night we finally got our chance, mainly because we waited until the last minute to make reservations and pretty much everything else was booked. I'd always thought it a bid odd that Vine always had reservations at the last minute and at every time slot you could imagine. Now I finally understand why. There is nobody there! We arrived at 7:15pm for 8:00pm reservations and the place was empty. Now, I must first say that I really liked the ambiance. There was a fireplace going and dim lighting and the overall feel was romantic. I wouldn't previously have thought of having the place to myself as a bad thing until we sat down. On one hand, the service was prompt and the servers attentive. On the other, the servers were probably bored and felt the need to rush our table after we put down a fork to swoop and try to take a plate or glass before we were done. Three times someone tried to remove a glass before we were done and another two times tried to remove our plates. Overall, the food was good- not outstanding but definitely good. I had the chef's special risotto and it was good- a little overpowered by the applewood bacon but I love applewood bacon so that was ok. My husband's lamb came beautifully presented. Not a lamb person I actually thought it was quite good but my husband (being a lamb person) thought it was just ok. I love the assortment of small plates they have to share. We had the crostini of the day and they were great and very generous portions. The creme brule sampler dessort was great. Overall, I found the food to be above average but have decided I don't enjoy being one of the only diners in a restaurant!

Quiet Sundays

by chaspa06 at Citysearch

Not bad for brunch on Sundays. Serene atmosphere. Portions okay. Had steak and eggs and bagels and lox. A little salty on the steak. We made our reservations through Open Table website but didn't get our points because the restaurant labelled us as a "no show". Not good for business. We'll probably try a different mealtime for better results.

Plants are all dead

by carrie73 at Citysearch

Overall we liked Vines wine tasting, pretty good deal. It is a good location and the food pretty good. How can you have a patio with all dead plants. It really ruins the atmosphere. Hello, has anyone heard that plants need water to live?

  • Pros: wine tasting
  • Cons: plants are dead on patio

The food? Not so much

by elohari at Citysearch

I recently visited the Vine for the first time and was impressed by the service and the wine selection. Despite enjoying the ambience, the outside patio, and the friendliness of the staff, the most important part...the food...was a disappointment.

  • Pros: Mondays 50% off wine, Patio
  • Cons: food quality

Hung by a VINE

by alan08 at Citysearch

I went there the other night with a couple of out of town guests. The restaurant was very busy and to me the place seemed like a factory, not necessaily well run. I was given that "get in" and "get out" impression. The place is cozy and inviting but the overall feel from the staff was such that we were on a time limit. The food came out wrong 2 times. and the server almost scoffingly took it back to be fixed. From then on we all felt that we were no longer welcome. I did like the martinis they were great and the wine list literaly cannot be beat, but to me and my dollar there are far better places that make you feel more welcome then VINE.

  • Pros: Martinis, WINE
  • Cons: WAITSTAFF, Overly Crowded
