Great Bar Staff!!!

by jazzlove at Citysearch

I had been to Michon's before they moved to their new location and experienced great music, even greater food, but poor customer service. Three of my friends and I went last weekend and sat at the bar due to the table seating wait time being over 45 mins. The bartenders were very nice and worked well together. The bartender that served us was very bubbly and sweet. She suggested several drinks that we had never tried before but really enjoyed. She stated she had only been working there for a few months but was knowledgeable when we asked her about the company and the food. We had a great time and will definitely return!

  • Pros: Bartenders!
  • Cons: Excessive wait times

Great restaurant; bad customer service

by DBBrown at Citysearch

I went to Michon's on Tuesday night. The food was really good BUT...when I attempted to pay for my food; the waitress proceeded to inform me that their credit card machine wasn't working yet because they just opened at this location. I asked if there was a sign on the door to inform the public. Note: They did have the Visa logo on the door so I assumed that I could use my card. She stated that she was sorry but they had a teller machine in the restaurant that was operational. Needless to say, I had to pay a $3.00 fee to use the machine and my bank will charge me a fee as well. The management did not discount my bill to cover the charges. Honestly, they did not make any concession. I would have appreciated a manager coming over to apologize and a discount to cover the fees I incurred. My food was $19.00, I tipped the server $5 (because it wasn't her fault and she was very nice), and the fees were $6.00 ($3.00 ATM fee and $3.00 bank fee), giving me a total of a $30.00 disaster, which ruined my experience.

Wonderful Wings

by Gr1922 at Citysearch

I've been to Mishon's on several occasions. I've been when there were only three people in my party and I've been when there were at least 25 in my party. The customer service is always awful. I even complained to the lady who I thought was the manager or owner and it didn't change a thing. On my return, the only thing that changed, was the service was worst than the last time. You would think, in this hour of financial hardship, when a lot of people are cutting back on eating out and being somewhat choicy in choosing places to eat, based on what is being offered and for how much, you would think their management would be tough on the staff in making sure there customer service skills are up to par. I would think about going back to a restaurant, even if the food was not the greatest, if, while patronizing that establishment, I was made to feel comfortable and the customer service was really good. Even more so, word of mouth in a business such as this, is your best asset. The owners of Mishons really need to take a long and serious look at what their staff is doing, before it's too late. There are too many restaurants in Atlanta and the surrounding areas, that serve great food as well as great smoked wings. I have not been back to Mishons since June 2009 and I have no intention of ever returning. Even when we went in June, we left without eating because, after waiting forever to be seated (it was on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not even crowded at all) we had to continue to wait, for these two particular waitresses to make up there minds as to who was going to wait on us. That was it for me. I will never spend my hard earned money in Mishons, ever again.

  • Pros: Great Tasting Wings
  • Cons: Horrible, Horrible Customer Service and Wait Time

Disappointed

by Renee5112 at Citysearch

OK first let me say that when my party of 6 FINALLY got our food we were so tired of waiting that we were too sleepy too eat. The chicken breast was dry and served with a side of barbecue sauce, which still didn't help out. I have to say that the smoked wings and the ribs were AWESOME. We RSVP'D and the hostess sat us as soon as we walked in, which was about 7pm. The waiter took our order around 7:15 and we finally got our food at 8:20. They left off some of our side dishes and we asked if we can replace it with dessert and the watiter said yes, but it will take a long time to get it out to us because they have to bake it...WOW!! That is sad! We asked the waiter if we can have an additional set of silverware because one of my friends didn'[t have silverware at her table, well the watier never brung our silverware. We had to ask another waiter. After we ate, the waiter brung our bill and and put the wrong amounts on our cards...That took another 20 minutes to straighten out. The waiter acted as if it was our faults instead of his and had a major atttude with us. Michons has the potential to be dynamic restaurant, the ambience, the music, the drinks are good, and the smoked meats are very good. But, the owner needs to make their employees take a customer service training class for about 1 week.

  • Pros: smoked meats and the drinks
  • Cons: lousy/poor customer service

The food is good enough that you'll put up with the terrible service.

by kaitl at Citysearch

I read the reviews on here and it seemed like I'd be ok for a weekday To Go lunch. You don't need much service for a To Go order right? So I ordered the chopped pork sandwich, potato salad, peach cobbler and a drink and sat down to wait. I saw them mess up 2 To Go orders while I was waiting, so I checked mine when the guy brought it out. I said, "There's no sauce in here." He told me that extra sauce was $0.50 but that there was some already on the sandwich. Ok, most BBQ places give you a cup of sauce and let you put as much as you want when you are ready to eat it, and so it dosn't get soggy. It turns out I didn't have to worry about that. Because either the kid lied about putting sauce on the sandwich, or they've invented a clear, tasteless BBQ sauce. Even dry as it was, the sandwich was good. I'd have glady paid an extra $0.50 to have that "extra" sauce, had I known that it doesn't come with any. If you order out, MAKE SURE TO GET SAUCE. Also, they put a pickle on the outside of the bun but under the wrapper. So the top of the bun was soggy, but not too bad, as long as you don't hate pickles. It just seems like they haven't thought a lot of their standard practices through very well. They can definitely cook BBQ, now if they can just figure out how to run a restaurant, they'll be rich.

  • Pros: Food
  • Cons: Service and getting nickle and dimed to death. Add a buck to the sandwich and give the sauce away already.

Wish we could have eaten

by redell99 at Citysearch

The food looked good - but we never got to taste it. We were told we would have to wait 30 minutes to be seated. We heard a staff member tell another that the kitchen was backed up and not to seat anyone else. We waited and waited. The staff seemed pleasant but no one bothered to come over to assure us that we would be seated eventually. The couple that was being seated when we walked in still had not received their food 45 minutes later. There was one large party (about 50 people) and another party of about 25 people and it was a Saturday evening... so we figured we came on the wrong nite... and left. Maybe we'll go back, maybe we won't. I'm not at all impressed with a restaurant that can't serve people in a reasonably timely fashion. They were in their new location which was nice, however...and the music (DJ) was pleasing. Just which we could have eaten. Get it together Michons.

Typical

The smoked wings were marvelous, the service is bad (staff is unfriendly; kitchen (food was cold four times in a row)); and what on earth is going on with loss of liquor license and the suppossed move).......another unfortunate example of bad business practices.

  • Pros: Smoked wings are great
  • Cons: food is cold service is bad

Great Neighborhood Spot

by food_critic411 at Citysearch

Michon's is a wonderful restuarant snuggly located in Hapeville, GA. My neighbor ranted and raved about this place so much that I decided to go on a quest to find it. Let me just say, it was well worth the journey. Michon's signature dish is their smoked wings. Although the rib tips are awesome, if this is your first visit, start with the smoked wings. My favorite entree is the smoked wings, collard greens and yams!! Mmmm....Good y'all for real. There is a live band on location during the week and its a nice spot for good food and music. The wait staff is much to be desired, however please do not miss out on this great establishment due to the possible attitude of one sourpuss! I love Michon's and I tell all of my friends about it. I'm frequently in Michon's because the food is sooo good. In fact, I'm taking my boyfriend there for our 2nd Anniversary!!!

  • Pros: Great food, live music, prices
  • Cons: Wait staff

As the name implies, this joint is known for items like smoked wings and catfish fillets as well as bologna sandwiches.
