Blues and Ribs
by BBQ Man
Stopped in on a Friday to pick-up and order, but decided to eat in instead as there was this band the Rick Carter Project that just blew me away. They sounded like Eric Clapton when he was with John Mayall. Outstanding thought I'd been transported back in time!!! The great ribs, beer, and music made for an incredible night. Couldn't believe band!
- Pros: Outstanding Ribs
- Cons: Hard to find a seat Friday night!
Decatur's Best BBQ

I am not from Decatur but was recommended by a friend. I stopped by Maddy's and was very pleased with their friendly service and even more pleased with the quality of their BBQ food!

Best Ribs, Stingy side orders
by AuntyJay
I've been in Atlanta for 18 years and sampled many Q joints, and this one takes the cake. Luckily for me, I don't have to travel too far to sample their awesome ribs.
I like my ribs dry so I usually have sauce on the side - YUMMY! They've smoked the ribs so well that the flavor is in the bone.
My only complaint is that the side orders are way too small. The potato salad is yummy, but I often won't order them because there's no way I'm paying money for a teaspoon of food.
Good Food, Crappy Music
by Sandi74
We love the food at this place, however it's a little difficult for me to enjoy a meal on site with all the racket. We've actually eaten at the restaurant 4 or 5 times, but the live music was so bad that we just started carrying out. The ribs fall off the bone, the chicken is always tender and moist and the sides are pretty good-especially the potato salad.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Bad, bad music
KC rib review
by KCPeanut
Being a KC transplant, I like my ribs. I have to say I was fairly impressed with their ribs. The meat fell off the bone at one end of the ribs and ended up a little over cooked on the other side. The potato salad was good enough that I would kick my mother in law for a bowl. My only issue was that they had no fries on the menu. In KC you gotta have fries with BBQ. But I am in Georgia now so have to adapt. Overall good food and music. This KC fatman says give it a try.
- Pros: The ribs were good
- Cons: No fries on the menu.
Best ribs in town
by bingodog
It's not much to look at, but hey, it's a rib joint! And the ribs rock! Apparently the owner is a cousin of the owner of Fat Matt's, but Maddy's has definitely got the best ribs and sauce, hands down. The potato salad is a little sweet for me, but the cole slaw is a great companion to the barbecue. Enjoy!
- Pros: Ribs
- Cons: Loud blues
Great beer selection!
by whiskeylullaby
As an Emory student who is always broke and hungry, I find Maddy's to be a godsend. The barbeque is always cheap and especially filling which leaves me money for some cold beer! Be sure to check out the monthly $2 bottle beer specials, which are always top-shelf brews such as Guiness, Red Stripe, Shiner Bock, and Warsteiner. Every night there is free live entertainment featuring local blues/rock bands. There is a full deck for outdoor dining as well if you would rather hear the music at a more managable volume. The only downside is the first-come first-serve seating, which can go quick on Friday and Saturday nights so come early to grab a table for the evening. Bonus: The service is quick and the staff is always polite and accomodating. A great barbeque restaurant and a great time.
- Pros: Great food, cheap beer
- Cons: First come, first serve seating, noise issues
