One of the top meals I've EVER enjoyed!
by juska556 at Citysearch
I am in love with the Feed Store! College Park is a great location for this urban gourmet take on southern cuisine. The salads we chose were absolutely divine--prefect mix of field greens, pickled pears (DELISH!) with just the right amount of Pecan vinaigrette dressing. We both enjoyed the country fried short rib that fell apart on the fork with just enough light batter to make it taste like grandma's without that heavy feeling after each bite. We also mixed up the side dishes to be able to sample a larger variety, all were well matched in quality and quantity. We were sure to leave a little on our plates to be boxed so we could enjoy more brown sugar carrots and buttermilk mashed potatoes later in the evening. Dessert was so delectable that I was vying to get the remaining cobbler (Apple & Rhubarb) out of the dish and we argued over the last few bites of banana bread pudding. Thankfully the chocolate fried pies came in a serving of 2! The quality of the food along with portion size, selection, atmosphere, location, and service made for an enjoyable experience in exchange for a reasonable price. Chef Peter's work was tremendous and he himself was extremely grateful and happy to know that we were pleased. I hope more people find this gem on the up-and-coming College Park's Main Street!
- Pros: Love the curved boothes--made it very intimate for our meal!
great restaurant in an area of chains.

I am confused by the bad reviews. We must have been there on a dynamite night. We were here on business and went to a famous steakhouse last night. Rathbun's steak. It was hip and cool and beautiful with great service, with good food and high prices. The Feed Store had great food , very good prices, great service and an urban atmosphere that had great art and warmth. The Squash soup was amazing, as were the short ribs and buttermilk potatoes. The brussel sprouts were al dente and fresh. Desert was awesome (we split, fried chocolate cake, pear sorbet, cobbler and chocolate ice cream with homemade butterscotch)and the wine list was affordable and interesting.Good selection by the glass and great beer choices. I have dined out at very nice restaurants in many cities and sold wine for 7 years so I have knowlege of high end, creative food. This place was great and Patrick was friendly, informative and helpful. We all loved it.
I
- Pros: clean, warm, yet modern. Great creative food at affordable prices.
- Cons: that i have to leave tomorrow and can't have dinner there again tomorrow

Fantastic Find - and near the airport!
by rosetteandpete at Citysearch
We were looking for somewhere near the airport to entertain a visiting friend with a short stopover. We were headed for The Pecan but it was closed for a private event. Luckily we stumbled upon The Feed Store just a few doors down. The space is modern, casual and comfortable - the service, the menu, the meals - all outstanding. A different take on Southern classics. We shared the Fried Green Tomatoes, simple, well presented and tasty. Our entrees were shrimp and grits with collard greens, lamb stew and fried chicken with duck confit on pepper jack mac'n'cheese with Coca Cola beans each of which were thoroughly enjoyed. The sweet potato creme brulee and the banana bread pudding were a delicious end to the meal. This was well worth the $20 for an entree in our opinion. We will definitely be going back.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Menu, Parking(!!), Proximity to airport, Great looking bar
- Cons: None
College Park fine dining?
by tabletopjoe at Citysearch
I finally made it to dinner at the Feed Store, and I must say, it left a little to be desired. The meal began with a wonderful appetizer of fried green tomatoes and a delightful wedge salad, as well as a nice bottle of cabernet. I have read several reviews that complained about the pricing and portions, but I found the wine list to be very affordable and our appetizers and entrees to be of ample size. While our service was very friendly and attentive, it was when my entree arrived that the meal took a turn for the worst. The ribeye that I ordered looked like something I would get at Golden Corral. The 1/2 inch thick cut (not exaggerating) was fatty, even for a ribeye, undercooked, and obviously cooked on a flat-top. This was a steak that no one should ever serve at a "fine dining" restaurant. This unfortunate aspect of the meal really ruined an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. My wife's pork chop was tasty, as was the dessert (pecan pie and tiramisu). I would certainly give the Feed Store a second chance.
- Pros: Approachable and affordable wine list, great appetizers, friendly service
- Cons: Terrible entree experience
What a waste !

Had dinner at the feed store, the food was average! would not have minded it , but the price point was too much ! very expensive and not worthy, I mean these are Manhatan prices. The Ambiance and the staff were very cold. What a waste !
- Pros: parking/location
- Cons: inflated prices
Great attention to detail!

Noticed this place as I was getting lost looking for my hotel near the airport. I was a bit shocked by the prices at first, considering the location, but it turned out to be worth it. Interesting beer and wine list & the waiter knew enough to comment thoughtfully on the beer (Chimay Cinq Cents on tap!) as well as the wine. My duck leg with lentils was fantastic and generous for $19. My companions were pleased with the pomegranate salmon and steak frites, and we shared an excellent tiramisu. Other dessert options looked great too (bourbon pecan pie, apple tart with caramel icecream). I thought they did the little things well and let the food speak for itself. I'd definitely go back. It was a Monday night and fairly slow, so I don't know how they respond to busy nights or big groups.
- Pros: Everything on the menu looked appealing
- Cons: Urban prices in an unlikely location
BEWARE.

Tonight we ordered the pomegranate-glazed pan-seared salmon. It arrived rather haphazardly presented, but that's not my complaint. Rather, the salmon was undercooked, with an interior that was dark pink and sticky. It was inedible. The server told me that the salmon was regularly prepared "medium," and it was my responsibility to designate something different. (I was not asked at the time I placed the order.) I responded that I expected the fish to be cooked, not raw, and sent back the dish. The same piece of fish was returned to me with the glaze burned to a solid black crust, and the flesh tough and nearly uncuttable. I asked to speak with the chef. He proved to be defensive, stating that "in the big city" (he really said this) salmon was cooked like this, and the overcooking was the result of my request that the salmon be "well done." His assumption that we were unfamiliar with good food was offensive enough, but moreso was his failure to make any gesture to remove the dish (which two servers privately agreed was inedible) from our bill or to offer any other accommodation. For the record, the coquilles St. Jacques and the crab cake appetizer were fine, but the chef's high-handedness (and the shockingly high bill, given what we consumed) ruined the evening.
- Pros: Rather nice setting
- Cons: Surly customer service. Defensive chef.
Mediocre at best at a high end price!

We went here with a group of about 30 people a while back from the advice of our hotel....DINERS BEWARE.....food was ok (kind of greasy and very salty) but the service was some of the worst we had ever seen in a place with a price tag like this one! Would have expected more. We questioned the possibility of some check padding after looking at the bill with our group as a whole (few too many drinks and a couple of extra wine bottles) Am sure it is not a problem if only a couple of people but if you are going here with a group watch your wallet !
- Pros: comfy booths
- Cons: bad service / over priced
The Feed Store disappoints
by roseberk at Citysearch
I really wanted to like this place when it opened right near the airport, but from the cheesy, outdated, 90's decor, to the mundane menu, The Feed Store disappoints. I've been there several times for lunch and they are consistently understaffed, causing the service to be hectic and rushed. If you go, don't get the roasted veggie lasagne. The vegetables were tough, as though they'd been microwaved. The cold, limp fries also left a lot to be desired, as did the mushy chocolate bread pudding for dessert. The bread basket placed on the table was uneven -- the cornbread was delicious, but the foccacia was stale.
- Pros: Airport location
- Cons: outdated decor, understaffed, inconsistent food
