Dakota Blue is one of our favorite casual restaurants in all of Atlanta, and certainly our favorite in the Grant Park area. It's a relaxed & casual atmosphere where you get consistently good food & drinks. The owners, Alan & GiGi, and the staff, especially Anne & Elizabeth, are the friendliest, cooolest people you'll ever meet. Chef Tony's specials are always good; quite often they're downright amazing. Everything is extremely reasoably-priced. On weekends you can enjoy the amazing brunch - Crab Cakes Benedict is my personal fave item. If the weather's nice the sidewalk tables are wonderful. As Grant Park residents, we especially enjoy being able to walk to & from Dakota. It can be fairly crowded with kids & families, but after about 7:30/8:00 pm it's mostly adults. If you're not a "kid" person be aware of that. We take friends & family to Dakota when they're in town and they always enjoy it as much as we do.

Good food. The adobe chicken tacos, the burritos, and the black bean cuban are wonderful. As to what to watch out for, well, that would be speed of service. They are not always the most prompt. Sunday brunch is a great price for the food you get. Oh, try the jalapeno grits - I wish they were stone ground, but for not being so, very good!

Regarding parking - you are in a neighborhood. It is not an issue, as street parking is plentiful. If you are opposed to walking a block, then maybe you should go to Waffle House.

Cheers,

 • Pros: Food prices, great for kids early (all 3), drink prices
 • Cons: Service time could be better

Great place. The service is excellent. A bit of a family-type place, but I got over that quickly considering the PBR pitchers were $4. That made everything excellent. Forgive the grammatical errors, I did take advantage of the $4 PBR pitchers, did I mention that? Ha, anyways the service was prompt, the location was in a somewhat quiet part of Cabbagetown, I guess? The food was better than other restaurants that are bars. Overall, give this place a chance. I had the Philly Cheese Chicken Style Sandwich, with Asian Coleslaw, and it was excellent. Again, the $4 PBR pitchers, holy S$it. Nice restroom, might I add.

 • Pros: Cheap pitchers, and decent food.
 • Cons: Um, I guess it is a little more family oriented early on, but just come later, no problem!

We go far and wide in search of good veggie sandwiches, and Dakota's black bean Cuban is a winner. Great little lunch spot as an alternative to the pizza place across the street.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Dakota Blue. I went with 5 of my friends to brunch last Saturday at 11:00 AM. We were promptly seated even though we had a large party. The server was VERY friendly. Our food was amazing! I had a thing called a Salvador Dali...it was kind of like eggs benedict but vegetarian and on home made bread, it rocked! One of my friends had crabcakes benedict and she loved them, another friend had some yummy blueberry pancakes! Bloody Mary's were also excellent!! Check it out you won't be disappointed.

 • Pros: Great outdoor seating, no wait for seat at brunch
 • Cons: parking

This place has a great menu especially for brunch. However, the service is painfully slow and the servers have no idea how to pre-bus. For a place being as small as it is, there should be NO problem with this. The past few times that I have dined I sat at the bar alone and the server was rude and impatient. I have seen the owner on occasion and he seems to be a nice man. Because the food is good I recommend this place for for to-go ONLY!!!

 • Pros: food, brunch, in my neighborhood
 • Cons: slow and rude service

We lived in Grant Park for 2 years, and miss "DB" as we call it the most. They have much more than burritos- and we love getting the Super Nachos with vegetarian chili the most. Their little sauces that come with chips are also fabulous- they come in squeeze bottles, and there are 3 flavors. I love the chipotle flavored one. And their chips are really good, as well. The service is great- they are just an all-around perfect little neighborhood eatery. Highly recommended on the weekend when the weather is nice- you can sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood. Also, they feature local artists' work on the walls inside, which is a wonderful touch.

 • Pros: Food, Ambience, Art Gallery
 • Cons: Parking can be limited

My wife & I have been regulars for the past 3 years at Dakota Blue and absolutely love the place. It's just what we need in Grant Park - a neighborhood restaurant that has fantastic owners, the friendliest staff known to man, cheap drinks and last but not least, surprisingly good food at incredible prices. We started going for the chips, homemade guacamole & burritos but quickly ventured out to try some of the specials. Crabcakes for $10? Best for the money we've ever had. And you can NEVER go wrong with a burger - I'd put them up against the fabled Vortex anyday. Margaritas are awesome - surprising Tequila selection for place of this size, but for some reason we always seem to opt for a pitcher of Sangria. If you like sangria at all, this is right up your alley. And did I mention inexpensive? <$20 for a pitcher??? Crazy stuff.

The real secret to this place though is the brunch. Pancakes. Oh my God. Pancakes like you've never had before or will after. They're the size of a small child (three fill a platter!) and are lighter than a cloud over the desert in summer. And if you're adventurous (like me!) give a try to the Eggs Salvador Dali - a take on Eggs Benedict with spinach and a spicy chipotle sauce. Mmmmm.

I give great kudos to Dakota Blue and look forward to dining there week after week after week.

 • Pros: Great staff, great food, phenomenal prices
 • Cons: If you're not a fan of kids, come after 7:30.

First off I don't usually write reviews but one of the later "reveiws" got to me. Please disregard jiiterbug's tale. It's just not true. Been a regular since the early days and the place just has gotten better and better. I often meet my friends from the neighborhood there. The food is anyhting but greasy. have had the best of experiences with the Burgers, brunch, Specials and the new menu addtions, which keep coming.

IMO owners and staff are giving Grant Park a much needed restaurant that sparkles with life, and with a great affordable menu.

 • Pros: Food, Owner & Staff, Prices
 • Cons: That guy who always is hanging out at the Bar
