The Perfect Combo!

by bledbetter at Citysearch

If you were to ask me what my ideal food combo restaurant would be, this is it...I've had both the sushi and the thai, and they are both excellent. The sushi rolls are a lot bigger than average too, i was actually able to get filled up on $15 worth of sushi, which is $15 less than it usually takes me. The thai food is also exceptional, i recommend the chicken pineapple dish they have that is served in a half pineable, excellent! and if you're getting sushi, order the Tiger Maki....or better yet, do what i did and get both! ****

  • Pros: Great food, good prices, nice ambience

Disturbing Experience

by Colombia1 at Citysearch

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Marietta, I eat there 2 or 3 times a month. I am in the restroom and one of the sushi chefs is in the stall next to me. He leaves the restroom in a hurry (WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS) It was a Pappy moment from Seinfeld! Needless to say; I left without ordering my meal.

Great Sushi, alongside two roaches on my table!

by MarSa at Citysearch

I had the avocado sushi and the miso soup, which were delicious. But there were also two roaches i spotted in my table. It was kind of gross, but the buildings on the Marietta Square are old and have connected plumbing, no big deal. The Food is what matters! Good service

Amazing sushi near Midtown, Virginia Highlands & Briarcliff

by filmfreaknick at Citysearch

This is a really wonderful restaurant. My initial interest was the clever name and convenient, however off the beaten path, location. After my first bite of sashimi I knew I had found a jewel. With a softly lit, comfortable ambiance and quick, pleasant service this restaurant is sure to please. I especially suggest the Sushi and Sashimi Boat Dinner for Two as it is a great deal and allows you to enjoy a wide variety of foods. My favorite waitress, May, is almost always there and simply one of my very favorite waitresses in the city. Even on evenings that I am not particularly in the mood for sushi I'll come in to see her. She has memorized my tastes and always has my drink in hand when she realizes I'm at her table. She even remembers most of my friend's preferences. All around this is a grand restaurant and you have every reason to go check it out.

  • Pros: Best sushi I've had in town
  • Cons: Location

Two Fav's in one Spot!

by Hotlanta at Citysearch

Dined as lunch for two for under $40.

Pad Thai with Shrimp was very tasty and they kicked it up a notch just enough per our request. We shared the dish and cleared the plate bone dry. :)

Ordered three rolls including the Thaicoon Roll which made our taste-buds dance. Would order it again. Spider Roll was pretty good -- we have fav's elsewhere, but still not bad and it had good portions compared to what we've experienced elsewhere.

Delighted surprise: Diet Coke ordered was not a typical fountain drink -- came in the old style glass bottle with a glass of ice.

The atmosphere was pretty basic, but the service was prompt and friendly.

Left completely stuffed. Felt good value for the dollar and we loved browsing the shops in the area afterwards.

Would eat here again -- just wished it was closer to home. :)

  • Pros: Sushi and Thai on the same menu.
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

My Opinion: Atlantas Best Sushi

by jbrown472 at Citysearch

The Thaicoon would have to be my favorite sushi resturant. The quality is AMAZING, the rice is Fresh and the staff is friendly. Your water is never below the half-way mark, they give great beer suggestions and have several varieties, including hot and cold saki's. Monday and Tuesday nights are their "Dollar" sushi night, the price isnt a dollar, its like a $1.25, but still a good deal. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

  • Pros: Food, environment, staff and quality
  • Cons: none

one word: KAMIKAZE a.k.a. "A little Heaven on Earth

by joyfields at Citysearch

I have been to several sushi and thai restaurants and Thaicoon is definently ranked #1 on my list!! They have unbelievably reasonable prices. Not to mention their fresh and inovative dishes are one of a kind. My favorite sushi roll is Kamikaze. It literally will have you begging for more. I would also recommend the Dynomite roll, California Eel roll, Fir roll, as well as the Rainbow roll. Their Thai dishes such as Pad Thai Chicken and Panang Curry are also a treat. In addition, on Monday and Tuesday nights (5 pm.-9pm.) sushi and sushimi (peices of fresh fish w/o the rice) are served for $2.00 a roll!!! Thaicoon also has wonderfull servers. The restaurant itself sets a calm and relaxing mood. Its a great place for a first date or even a corporate lunch. If you haven't been there yet, you have no idea what you are missing.

  • Pros: The prices, setting, and service
  • Cons: Cant think of one.

Go on Monday Night

by BNSupra at Citysearch

Thaicoon has an excellent deal on Monday nights. They offer great sushi for $1 or $2 depending on the roll. You only have to order a minimum of $6 worth, but once you get it you will realize you will be full by the end of the meal! The $2 rolls include the delicious Japanese Bagel Roll (fried, sweet, and delicious cream cheese and smoked salmon) and the Thaicoon Roll which is similar but with tuna. These come in quantities of 4 and will fill you up before you know it! Each time I have had sushi here it has been fresh and very good. The $1 sushi offers a variety such as crab, shrimp, tuna, salmon, etc. (simple one pieces). If you like sushi, Thaicoon is definitely for you, especially with a great deal like this! It gets a little busy, but I have never had to wait, and the servers are very kind and promptly refill your drinks. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very quiet and beautiful. Their Thai food is also great, and authentic. I have really enjoyed the Pad Thai and the Thai Iced Tea is delicious.

  • Pros: Go on Monday Nights, sushi, quality of food, portion size, variety
  • Cons: can get crowded

Thai and Japanese....the best of both worlds all in one restaurant

by mstar284 at Citysearch

Thaicoon located by the Marietta Square is the best Asian cuisine in the Marietta area. Because it includes both a Japanese menu and Thai menu, it offers a variety of the best of both worlds. There is a sushi bar and table seating available. The sushi is always fresh, the service staff is respectful, responsive, and efficient. My favorite is the Coconut Soup (Tom Kha Khi). Once you've had a taste of it, you'll be thinking about this creamy, sweet and unique dish long after you leave the restaurant. It's addictive. When I'm in the mood for Thai, I usually order the Spicy Basil Chicken or the Curry Chicken, served with steamed rice. However, the sushi is excellent, as well. My favorites are Maguro (ahi tuna), Sake (salmon), and Yellow Tail. I highly recommend checking out any Thaicoon, but the one in Marietta is the only one I have been to and it is well worth the trip!

  • Pros: Great food for a low price...nice atmosphere
  • Cons: There is a train that comes by every hour or so
