A breakfast-lunch spot for the well-groomed VaHi crowd.
by Ryan Sims at Citysearch
In Short
Within the long, slender brick building lays a bustling city bakery serving up desserts in one room, and full on foods in the light and airy dining room. The mid-sized, smooth concrete bar is perfect for the lone diner and the small tables with silver chairs give the room a modern day diner feel for their breakfast and lunch service. The mammoth-sized peanut butter French toast with caramelized bananas could feed a small army, and the unique, fluffy ricotta pancakes are served with sweet and tangy blueberry compote to the massive weekend brunch crowd. Plenty of vegetarian-friendly dishes are available including substitutes like soysage and tofu. The breads and pastries are fresh and tasty, but if you want for cinnamon roll served warm, it will be nuked. Fair warning.
Ignore the comments of the perpetually bitter

What can i say about Highland Bakery other than the food is AMAZING! The service is spotty at best (but hello this is Atlanta) - they are as good as anywhere else. The food is AMAZING!!!! I am about the pickiest person in the whole damn world but you wont find a better breakfast this cheap (if you think this is overpriced head on over to the Buckhead Diner or its Sister Brunch Establishment across the street) anywhere ITP or OTP.
I think the people who left nasty comments must have had someone urinate in their cereal because I have been to the Highland Bakery many many times (almost every Sunday) and have never ever had a meal less than amazing. The Jalape?o Focaccia Bread is to DIE FOR! Ignore the bitter and go let your tastebuds have a PARTY!!!
- Pros: The Food is AMAZING and Consistent
- Cons: You will wait on the weekend!
Can't go wrong

My hubbie and I have been eating breakfast and occasionally lunch at the HIghland Bakery for about four years. We keep coming back for more--it's our favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the city. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious!! The servers are great, too.
- Pros: easy parking
Breakfast doesn't get any better!

We absolutely love this place. Great neighborhood breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches and rocotta pancakes are exceptional. Their coffee is always a little bitter for me but upgrade to the Latte or Mocha for a great coffee experience. Even Free Wifi. Busy on weekends. So abandon the Biscuit and have a real grown-up breakfast in Inman Park!
- Pros: Breakfast is exceptional.
- Cons: Parking could be better, but we've never had a problem.
Eggs Benedict & Grits ~ Yum!
by drsnga at Citysearch
Finally a restaurant that offers my favorite breakfast item! Until My trip to Highlant Bakery, this is one dish that seemed to be on the "endangered recipe" list. Not only did they serve up an excellent benedict, it was paired with the most awesome grits I have ever tasted ....... ground in their own kitchen! Our waitress immediately suited us up with coffee and waters, filled us in on the house favorites and was off with our order. I didn't make any side purchases from the bakery this trip , which was very tempting.May be next time.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Parking could be a problem during peak hours
Best Turtle Mocha in ATL!
by trrinatl at Citysearch
I need to buy a vowel so I can say OH MY GOD! This place was amazing. After working all night long at a nearby hospital, I was a little nervous about going to a neighborhood breakfast place to grab a coffee. I quickly found a parking space right beside the building and made my way inside. The staff IMMEDIATELY were polite, greated me and asked if I wanted to be seated. I just wanted a TO GO coffee and the guy behind the counter whipped up a turtle mocha for me. I was like drinking dessert, I was in heaven. I also orderd a couple of muffins. The Banana nut muffin was AMAZING, better than mom's, but I"ll deny it if she ever reads this. I asked for a couple of menus to take back to work, the staff seemed greatful that I was willing to refer my co-workers.
- Pros: Friendly staff, GREAT TURTLE MOCHAs,
- Cons: Parking looks like it could be a little stressful

Highland Bakery is an unassuming haven of culinary delight. The sweet potato pancakes are pure bliss; they are, by far, the most delicious pancakes I have ever experienced.
If you live in or near Atlanta, you MUST dine here. Visitors to the area should automatically add Highland Bakery to their itineraries.
- Pros: Helpful and courteous staff, stellar brunch, vegetarian options
- Cons: NONE
Most underrated breakfast in the city
by johncri at Citysearch
An old building has been renovated into a restaurant/bakery and we are all the better for it. While the service can be mixed, the food is worth it. Fabulous grits, stone-ground on site, are the pinnacle of this restaurants grub. Eggs Benedict are tasty, and can be done with either traditional Canadian bacon, or with crabcakes, and either way is scrumptious. My wife swears by the breakfast sandwiches.
If you are too late getting into Thumbs Up Diner, shoot around the corner and give this joint a shot. You won't be dissappointed...
- Pros: Excellent food, plenty of seating.
- Cons: not really any
best wholesome breakfast

i have no idea what happened to the people who say the food is bad and the service is horrible. my husband and i live in the neighborhood and make a habit of going to the highland bakery almost every weekend. it is one of the best breakfasts offered in the city, and for a much better price than most other places. the staff know us now, and were always very friendly. the food is amazing, especially the grits (ground on-site). my husband loves their breakfast sandwich and gets that almost every time we go. if you head over for lunch, try to crabcake sandwich or the grilled cheese on rosemary bread, both are very good. if you are one of those people who don't understand why people eat grits, please try highland bakery's. they will surely change your mind.
- Pros: grits, bohemian atmosphere, inexpensive
- Cons: crowded on weekends, slow on weekends
GREAT!!

This is by far my favorite place to eat! They have the best sandwiches *the Hummus sandwich is amazing!* and the baked goods are very tasty. The service there is always friendly. The bakery is packed with art students so all of the food is very creative and a delight to look at. The breakfast there is also very good *try the Blueberry pancakes, they are delicious!*
- Pros: food, service, creative/colorful
