super busy weekends

by kapjpl at Citysearch

Delicious. I have been on the look out for a really good Benedict dish... Their crabcake benedict is awesome. The eggs were a bit over cooked and the crabcake had a little bit too much mustard. But no body is perfect, right? This place is really good. Haven't tried their baked goods yet....Coffee is a little weak, but I like it super strong.

Went on a Sunday at 1pm and waited for about 30 to 45 minutes for a table, but well worth it.

  • Pros: good breakfast
  • Cons: waiting

AVOID--food tastes terrible

by Maria123456 at Citysearch

Look, I am not a picky person when it comes to food---and I'm always open to new places. But Highland Bakery is so heavy on the butter and sauces and creams that I could neither finish the meal and felt sick afterwards.

So i'm writing this review so others won't be sorely disappointed as I was.

I had a to go order from there the other day---it was just awful. When I picked it up the people were very friendly and I was excited about my lunch. It was a bit pricey ($7 sandwiches, $8 salads etc) but I thought it was worth trying out since it seemed to be a nice, original local restaurant.

My grilled cheese was SOAKED in butter....I couldn't even taste the cheese and the garlic bread smelled so strong. The side order of Chips were very oily and frankly tasteless. My "house salad" can only be described as "blah" because the lettuce was limp and the sauce had too much mustard inside. Finally, the piece of chocolate cake ($6) which looked so pretty from the outside just tasted so heavy and ceamy (not in the good way).

Overall, not good at all.

  • Pros: Nice atmosphere
  • Cons: Food is awful, heavy and buttery and often tasteless

go early to avoid the crowd (if that's possible)....

by lilpeahead at Citysearch

i live close and this place is ALWAYS busy. i wont go near it on a saturday or sunday unless i'm feeling patient. but the boyfriend and i went in on monday for lunch and got there right at noon. the place was already full, but we were seated within our 10 minute quote. our server was effective, but was very quiet and hardly made eye contact. i had a half and half, consisting of the mediterranean sandwich (roasted turkey, pesto, goat cheese, field greens and mealy sliced tomato--- its so hard to get a nice pretty ripe one this time of year!) and a cup of the white bean chicken chili (needed just a bit of salt, and some of the beans were a bit undercooked). the bf got the highland breakfast (2 eggs, a choice of meat, potatoes or grits, and toast). his eggs were cooked perfectly. we each got a mocha. everything for around $23 bucks. i wanted to get one of the delicious looking cupcakes, but i guess you have to leave something for next time! we will be back.

  • Pros: who doesnt love breakfast??!!?!??!?
  • Cons: can get very busy

Breakfast doesn't get any better!

by swildermuth at Citysearch

We absolutely love this place. Great neighborhood breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches and rocotta pancakes are exceptional. Their coffee is always a little bitter for me but upgrade to the Latte or Mocha for a great coffee experience. Even Free Wifi. Busy on weekends. So abandon the Biscuit and have a real grown-up breakfast in Inman Park!

  • Pros: Breakfast is exceptional.
  • Cons: Parking could be better, but we've never had a problem.

Inman Park Hot Spot

by foodie513 at Citysearch

I love going here on a Saturday afternoon! The cowboy benedict and mochas are wonderful! If you live in the neighborhood, you can even sit outside with your dog and have a great view of the Atlanta skyline.

Solid breakfast, lunch, and take away food

by olafatl at Citysearch

Weekend breakfast can be chaotic but that's part of the fun. The cheese grits are amazing, with or without shrimp. The monster cinnamon rolls are insanely good. For lunch I love the curried chicken salad. I've stopped by to pick up cupcakes, bagels, and bread on different occasions and all have been great. Can't wait to take out-of-town guests here!

  • Pros: Good food across the board, friendly service
  • Cons: Can get crowded

Great Breakfast

by lvillemom at Citysearch

Went there on a sunday morning....waited over an hour to be seated. The wait felt disorganized, originally told us would only be 45 minutes.

Ordered Shrimp and Grits, was ver y good, but could have been hotter. Everyone else at the table really loved their breakfast. Oh, and the Ricotta pancakes were outstanding! Waitress was very sweet, and service was good. They have a peanut butter french toast that looked OUTSTANDING, next time we are going to indulge.

Took some cupcakes home for the kids, and they went crazy!

  • Pros: Delicious Food
  • Cons: disorganized, long wait

Cupcakes Don't Live up to their Promise

by sazall at Citysearch

Tried two cupcakes - they were really attractive and tempting to the eye, but sadly the flavor did not live up to the look, and the cake was dry. Maybe I'm just not a cupcake person...

  • Pros: Everything looks fabulous
  • Cons: Might not taste as good as it looks

great? not so much

by searchgoodfood at Citysearch

I went just to try the baked goods. I bought a brownie, cupcake, lemon bar and cheesecake. The brownie was dry and overcooked. The cupcake had no flavor. the lemon bar crust was doughy and the powder sugar had a chemical taste to it. The cheesecake was ok but nothing to rave about. The person who helped me seemed to be bothered that she had to work. I do not recommend going back and I will not be bothering to try it again.

  • Pros: nothing was good
  • Cons: desserts and the service

Eggs Benedict & Grits ~ Yum!

by drsnga at Citysearch

Finally a restaurant that offers my favorite breakfast item! Until My trip to Highlant Bakery, this is one dish that seemed to be on the "endangered recipe" list. Not only did they serve up an excellent benedict, it was paired with the most awesome grits I have ever tasted ....... ground in their own kitchen! Our waitress immediately suited us up with coffee and waters, filled us in on the house favorites and was off with our order. I didn't make any side purchases from the bakery this trip , which was very tempting.May be next time.

  • Pros: Everything
  • Cons: Parking could be a problem during peak hours
