SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

by dave729 at Citysearch

My wife and I just returned from Chateau Elan. It was perhaps the worse getaway weekend ever. The hotel is over-rated, over-priced, over-hyped, and over-flowing with its own self-importance. The hotel was so bad that it lead my wife and I fighting rather that relaxing. It was not until we started laughing at how bad the hotel was that we actual enjoyed ourselves.

1. The service. In a word, horrible.

2. The food. The best way to describe the food was chain restaurant quality at 4 star prices. At one restaurant, it appeared they were out of more food than they had on the menu. The ?award winning? wine was worse than Boones Farm. They posted no awards in the winery, so my guess is that the awards they won are for worst wines ever made.

3. The rooms. These people are flat guilty of false advertising. We stayed in a room in the Spa. The room had warped posters and fake plants. The advertisement included a Jacuzzi bathtub. One did exist? it just did not work and apparently had not worked for a while. And, for the entire three nights we were there, the sheets were never changed?even though an obvious wine spot was on the top sheet. The digital alarm clock did not work and there was no phone book in the room.

4. The price. Perhaps the most disgusting example of greed from these people came after we left the place. The bellman, their employee, filed to remove hanging clothes from the closet. The hotel did call to tell us they still had it. When we called to get the clothes back, we were told by voice mail that we would be charged for all shipping and handling charges including the cost of correcting the mistake their employee mad when he didn?t load the bags right.

My wife noticed that she saw no one smiling anywhere on the property, including us. For what you are asked to pay, smiles should come easily.

Beautiful and Romantic

by ninabrenell at Citysearch

My husband and I went for a weekend get away. Everyone was so nice and professional. The place was beautiful. We witness 3 wedding parties. The automsphere was filled with Love. I could not get my husband out of the bed because it was so comfortable. I can not think of a bad thing to say about Chateau Elan. We went to the cooking demo. The food was great. This will be our yearly get away vacation. I just hate that it is 4 hours away.

Escape to Wine Country

by edwardj2 at Citysearch

The spa at chateau elan is a very nice escape from the grind in town in Atlanta. I felt like I was on a mini vacation, it felt like I was so far away, but so close to town. I recommend the hot stone massage.

by mr_golf_guy at Citysearch

Hey!

Its Chateau's golf that usually gets me fired up---this time I gave the spa a shot. I dont know about pedicures----but MAN O MAN I scheduled a 'golfer massage' after TWO rounds and after felt like I could have played a THIRD. (instead played a third round at that irish pub!)

Hah---deff would recommend! Oh, come on a weekday too---its like you own the place.

Ok services, but had better--below average for a resort.

Actually, I was expecting a wonderful morning. To start off with, my friend and I did a yoga class which was absolutely wonderful. Afterwards, we changed our clothes, and then headed for the facial. When we arrived in the waiting room, there were not enough seats to accommodate everyone in the room. Also, it did not seem to be the "spa" touch at all. Leather couches with very bright rooms. Like you were sitting in a waiting room at the dr. office. The facial itself was great; however, the room that the young lady had me in was bright due to the sunlight. I have had facials many times, and every time, it is dark and relaxing to the point where you want to go to sleep. This was not. The facial was really nice. Then my friend and I went back to the waiting room for our next service. Not a seat was available, so we stood for about 10 minutes until it started to clear out. It was like a herd of cattle going thru due to the amount of people. I was taken to my pedicure and what a disappointment it was. TOTALLY. The lady I had was more interested in talking to her friends than she was taking care of me. She started later than everyone and finished about 5 minutes before everyone. There were around 7 of us in the room. My friend and I were very disappointed with the service. We both started going to spas when I was dating my husband 3 years ago. We went to a place in Arizona that was lesser in price with amazing service---Touch of Tranquility. I have been to spas in Birmingham that I received facials that were so much more superior to the facial I received there at the Chateau. Furthermore, the pedicure,,,,,well,,,,,my typical "every" 3 week pedicure at the local "no appt needed" nail shop is better too. In fact, my local pedi is $23 where Chateau's pedi was $60+tip. Yes, ladies, they go ahead and "make" you pay for the tip up front. I would have tipped the facial,,,but definitely not the pedi.

  • Pros: yoga class was great. very clean
  • Cons: service was like a herd of cattle

Great spa to treat yourself to.

I visited this spa today and it was wonderful! It was the most relaxing massage I have ever had and I will not waste my time anywhere else. Highly recommend - a bit pricier than other spas but well worth it.

Luxurious Diversion: Chateau Elan

by jxt at Citysearch

These guys/ladies are serious about luxury and this place could easily be called Four Seasons' Chateau Elan. Staff was amazing, everyone I came in contact was constantly asking if they could do anything to help. Massage was awesome--really awesome, oh my how awesome. Beautiful therapist after ultimate swedish massage gave me a hot pack to put on my neck & a champagne glass filled with a herbal beverage--awe refreshing--tearfully refreshing. Retired to the sauna, made a trip to the steam room, & ended with a luxury shower that boasted of a 4 tier spraying showerheads that rotated back & forth with a miniture waterfall at the top. Headed off to the Four Season's style restaurant ,Le Clos, which was another grand display of luxurious service & tasteful gourmet food. Pricey yes, but the Roll Royce of food we were served--finished with a trip through a masterfully creative gift shop, brisked throught the rugged Western Style Saloon, and made the effortless decison that we will back soon....A salute to management, staff, & community--it's about time someone took luxury seriously.

I brought my sister to Chateau Elan Spa for the first time for her birthday and I would just like say "WOW". We stayed in the Oriental room for 2 nights. We also had our two days of services.....let me just say how outstanding they were. My sister and I had the Ultimate Hot Stone Massage, Zen Harmony Facial, and the Champagne & Caviar Pedicures..which were ALL to die for. I plan to visit again very soon. I also want to say that the Staff at the Spa is incredible.
