What users are saying:
Following a light and sound makeover, upstairs Midtown music venue is still a work in progress.

The Scene
Oldest bar trick in the book: change your name, get a makeover and watch the socialites gather. So far, it's a so-so effort for this music locale, formerly Vinyl, perched above Earthlink Live. Open design is perfect to pack in bodies for DJ-spun dancing or live shows under the impressive light display. A smattering of pleather couches encourages a little bad behavior, while friendly bartenders at three bars mix drinks for melody makers.
The Draw
The Loft's claim to fame are the varied genres of bands it showcases and club-hoppers who are as diverse as the sounds they come to hear. Opening up the space gives music fans the prospect of seeing superior shows from '80s retrospectives and national acts to hip-hop spinners and garage rockers. With several local music venues around the city now closed, the club may fill a void for live music aficionados.

Despite the hestiation in checking out new venues in Atlanta... especially those that feature local music - everyone needs to check out Vinyl at least once.
- Great local bands
- Cool social scene
- If someone in your crowd isn't hot about the band, they can drink at the bar, lounge around on a sofa, play pool or various arcade games.
- Really cool atmosphere.
- Pay for parking underneath Earthlink Live and you get a free drink ticket.
- Also, every Thursday night from 11-1PM, Jay Harren from 99x, spins brit-rock, local, and new music.
Really cool place. Seriously. I recommend it highly and I've literally been to every venue in Atlanta. It's versatility will never leave you bored.
- Pros: free Thursdays, cool atmosphere, good local music
- Cons: new venue=still fresh, cheap
