great atmosphere with good food too!

by klee4685

Front Page News' patio was a great find. The fountain is very relaxing and creates a great environment for a day date or casual business lunch. The hamburgers were the best in the city and service was prompt and friendly.

  • Pros: outdoor dinning

Apparently I was wrong!!

by kermfan

Apparently my friends told me my review from before was too harsh. I will stand by my "sit at the bar, not a table attitude". I called to find out my bartenders' names. Apparently Danilelle and Matt are the bartenders to have a good time with( again, loud but fun) Servers, I am still iffy about.. I will also suggest the bloody marys(spicy/hot ones). The food is still leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but I'm willing to let my friends talk me into another try. Supposedly it depends on the day you go, the type of food/service you will receive. Anyway...sit at the bar...order food cautiously! Hope my friends and neighborhood people find this less offensive than my last review.

  • Pros: fun bar staff and good drinks
  • Cons: lack of everything else, in my opinion!!!

Waste of a good patio

by maurose

I've eaten here twice. On both occasions, the service was barely adequate. Even though the restaurant wasn't crowded, I felt like my friend and I were forgotten. The food tastes like it's fresh of the Sysco truck. I guess if you're looking for nothing better than a pretty patio for a few drinks and maybe some bar snacks, it's ok. But definitely not a dining destination.

  • Pros: Beautiful patio
  • Cons: Below average food

We launched our new menu last month (february 2009) and I think you'll find we have responded to comments like yours by moving toward fresher, more locally produced ingredients. Chef Chad Anderson has developed new entrees including a Grilled Bone-in Pork Chop char-grilled with sweet Vidalia onion dried fruit glaze, homemade macaroni and cheese, broccolini and balsamic roasted shallots, Herb Rubbed Mountain Trout pan roasted with a citrus arugula salad and carrot - parsnip mash, and we have rebuilt our long term recipes to include local ingredients and fresh herbs grown in our garden. Even our award winning Jambalaya tastes like a trip down on the bayou . . . Gulf Shrimp, Chicken and Andouille sausage, slow-simmered Creole style with rice, bayou spices, celery, tomatoes, peppers & white onion.

If you'll come back in I think you'll be happy. If you aren't please contact me via the website and I'll do what I can to turn your opinion around.

Nice patio...Horrible food...Horrible Management

by djwdir

Having a good understanding of what cajun food should taste like I thought that this place would be a new favorite of mine based on some other reviews. Got there and the patio was very nice!!! Got a drink, not bad. Ordered the salmon dinner...absolutely disgusting. The red beans and rice...worst i've ever had. Oh yeah, I ordered a crab cake for an appetizer...they forgot it. So I decided to send my meal back. The manager comes over and asked what the problem was. He then says that they do not take food back because it doesn't taste good. Huh??? I dont send a lot of food back, but I've tasted bad food from Burger King and they took it back, this is supposed to be a decent restaurant. Anyhow, after arguing for a moment he took it back. I ordered a simple shrimp po-boy. How can you mess that up. Well they did. Food has no seasoning, bread was dry. I just threw my hands up. If you enjoy tasteless food then try Front Page News today!!

We are always trying to make sure every guest leaves happy and obviously we failed on your visit. Please contact me via the website and I'll see what I can do to get you back in the door for a much improved experience. I am glad you noticed our award winning patio, but there is no excuse for the less than great experience you had.

Front Page is Spring in Atlanta

by MrAbato

For food, drinks and great patio Front Page news IS springtime. The patio can't be beat. The busy nights are more a bit of a hassle on the patio but the dining room inside stays reasonably quiet until around 10ish. The menu is great, but I must admit, I have so many favorites, I rarely try anything new. While my friends say the new Orleans food is the draw, I prefer the blackened chicken salad and the amazing blackened salmon salad. (I like salads, alot) Wine list is short but decent, and quite inexpensive. We usually start with Martinis and switch to the special drink list later. Perfect neighborhood joint for dinner and drinks anytime!

  • Pros: Great patio, Free Parking, Live music
  • Cons: Wait on weekends for patio, loud.

We strive to make every guest at Froont Page news happy but many times only unhappy guests feel motivated enough to write. Even after 20 year serving guests in Atlanta i still love to get a positive review.

Thanks for the kind words

Even better after 3 years!

by folyanb

We just moved back to Atlanta and one of our first nights out we returned to Front Page. We used to go to Front Page before we moved 3 years ago and I am glad to report it is better than ever.

The patio is still fun & festive and the bartenders (some old faces, some new) Seem to always pour a extra strong drink. The food is still fabulous, we had a steak and Jambalaya Like most non-tourist restaurants in new Orleans there is more than just "Cajun and Creole" food. From many years of visiting I can tell you, Steaks, burgers, and the Jazz brunch are great. There is no better place to celebrate being back.

  • Pros: Great patio
  • Cons: Can be busy on Sunday brunch.

bad service worse food

by crankyyanky

It is a shame that this place calls itself cajun. It is the farthest thing from it.The food is well below average.

\Personal examples.

They dont devein there shrimp.

Food far to bland to be referred to as cajun/creole

At times snippy service

food prepared apathetic and indifferentI give it one star for the patio where you can enjoy over priced cheap beer.

AVOID

I am sorry you were unhappy with your visit to Front Page News. I want to get you back into the restaurant to have a better experience. We do not refer to Front Page as Cajun and we do not pretend to be either a Cajun or Creole restaurant. We are a New Orleans style bar and grill. Like many restaurants in NOLA that we were styled after we serve American Bar & Grill food with a Low-Country / Bayou influence. Our new Orleans style dishes include Jambalaya, Ettouffe and Gumbo. But we also feature Bone in Pork chops, North Carolina Mountain Trout, and the city's best burgers. I hope you'll come back in and give Front Page another try.

Delicious Food

by BNSupra

Front Page News is one of my favorite places to eat. I always go there for a meal when visiting Little 5. All the food I have tried here is great. This includes the burgers, salmon sandwich, muffelattas, and their seafood gumbo is outstanding!! (order it with a side of rice!) The only draw back is the service is not up to par some of the time (seem like they don't care about you at all), and if you sit in the wrong spot on the patio it can smell like a sewer. All in all it is a great place to sit down and chill out and have a delicious meal after walking around shopping.

  • Pros: awesome food, location
  • Cons: service

Need better service

by donnamccrellis

Love my Sunday morning brunch so when Front Page News was introduced as a brunch location, I took some friends July 1 to check it out. I remembered having been there before in the evening and the service was appalling. It was Saturday night so all was forgiven. Sunday Brunch was the same. The food was good but it was cold and when they ran out of Homefries, they brought me grits without informing me. I HATE grits! Service was really lame.....yet again. If Front Page News could improve on their service, as the food is quite good, it would get a higher rating. Waiting over 1 hour for brunch really takes the biscuit.
