The price point is too high for mediocre "northern California" cuisine. It started with the bathroom. The deadbolt proved to be unmovable - I was stuck and had to push myself under the stall to get out. When I told the hostess, she said "We've been thinking about putting up a sign about that lock." The only dish that we enjoyed was the artichokes. But as I was going to spear a few more, a waiter swept by the table and took our half-full bowl of artichokes: - Our waiter said he'd find out what happened - He emerged from the kitchen with two artichokes in a bowl and asked, "Are these yours?" Nope. - In the meantime, the artichoke-stealer passed by and gave us a snarky look. - The manager arrived with the same bowl our waiter brought out and asked if they were our artichokes. Nope. "Do you know how many you had left? Can you tell me who took them?" Seriously? - The manager apologized (finally) and said he'd get us a new bowl of artichokes. - A new tiny bowl appeared with two artichokes that had been split in half. Time for the $102-check. My husband gave our waiter our credit card and our $100-gift card. The bill came back - $102. My husband asked him to credit the card and run a new bill for $2. When my husband got up to go to the restroom, the manager and our waiter, along with the bartender, were grouped around the bill. Our waiter said to my husband, "I'm not sure what you want me to do here." My husband explained again. The manager said, "Don't worry" and then wrote "VISA" at the top of our bill - ? "Come back real soon," the Emo bartender brayed as we left. We spoke to the manager about our evening - from the bathroom to having our artichokes stolen, to feeling like we were on Candid Camera with America's Most Disinterested Waiter. We wondered why we had bothered to give our waiter a 20% tip. Could his depth of misery really inspire compassion? Or was it because we had a $100 gift certificate and could laugh off the horrendous night?
Pros: Lightning fast water refills
Cons: Where to start--Pre-Alice-Waters Northern Cuisine not worth the value
