The Pho here is just as good, maybe better, than the places on Buford Highway

My husband and I aren't Vietnamese but we are from Southeast Asia. We heard about this place through word of mouth and decided to give it a try since there are not many Vietnamese places nearby.
The Pho broth was very flavorful and hearty, not laden with MSG like some other Pho places. I would even venture to say that it is better than Pho Dai Loi.
Everything we ordered was very good. Would highly recommend this place to our friends.
- Pros: Good food, the pho hits the spot on a cold winter day, family owned restaurant
Terrible service, semi-passable food

I read a review on this restaurant that said it was just, "okay". Because I like to decide for myself, I went to Hien Vuong and was excited about what treasure I might find. I arrived at 4:00 p.m. and was ignored for about ten minutes while the owner (I'm assuming) chatted it up with her son. I asked if I could be seated for dinner. The woman looked annoyed and told me that dinner wouldn't start until 4:30 p.m. I was a little put off and left.
I went back to the restaurant a week later for lunch. I was seated with a menu, no water, and sat there for about five minutes before a very young boy came to take my order. The first appetizer I chose (fish b alls) was not available. I decided on some sort of meat b alls and was told that it was not available. I asked what was available and he told me egg rolls/spring rolls. Well, I eat at these types of restaurants for something different, so those choices did not appeal to me. I asked what he could recommend and he had nothing to add. Fed up, I ordered the Chicken Pho Bowl (large) and it wasn't worth boxing up for a doggie bag. It was absolutely tasteless. Seriously, the chicken was so bland that if you didn't know it was chicken, you would be clueless to its identity. I found Tasty China a month ago and it was terrific! Stay away from this place on Pat Mell Road.
- Pros: If you're in need of any asian condiments, you can shop at the connected store.
- Cons: Too many to mention in this little space.
Very Good!

Restaurant is in a ethnic strip mall. Next door is a small but very good Asian grocery. If you know what you want (you have eaten Vietnamese before), the owner will make it for you. The menu is a little limited. If you are a little adventureous, Trahn will make you a wonderful Vietnamese meal
