Expect a wait
by jharr0919 at Citysearch
While we arrive rather early for a meal (about 6p), my wife and I were still forced to wait for almost 45 minutes for a table. The seafood is good, my favorite being the grouper. My wife is a steak lover, and this wasn't the place for her. Much better steaks are available for a lesser price at other places. The salad is incredible - try the house dressing.
Ambience is nice, children are always there, but it's not somewhere I would take a child.
After salad, meal and drinks, our check came to a total of $65.00. Not a bad price, but not what we were expecting on an average week night meal. This is probably somewhere I would reserve for a more special occasion.
- Pros: Staff is excellent,
- Cons: Wait is extreme
Buckhead atmosphere in Cartersville GA.
by slusherfamily at Citysearch
My wife and myself love this resturant.
Big city dining and atmosphere in a small town.
Staff is courteous and food is excellent.
We love that the resturant does not have reservations, or a large party automatic seating policy.
The customer is served promptly and quicly when you arrive.
If you share a entree they will charge $5.75 for a side salad which is the size of a meal.
If you cannot afford $5.75 then you should not be dining here.
I have never waited more than 10 minutes for a table.
The idea of seating a party of 12 when only 2 people are at the resturant is an outdated joke.
This is a small resturant that can only accomodate 100 patrons.
This is a small treasure in downtown Cartersville.
If you want great atmosphere and fine dining in Cartersville this is the place to go.
- Pros: No reservation , If you are there you get a table.
- Cons: None
Way, Way, Way Over Rated

When I first moved to town several years ago I ate at this place. The food was better than good and the service was just OK and the price was high. When the family joined me we started eating there for special occasions as the Cartersville market had nothing even slightly upscale then. Go to D. Morgan's - much better!
However, as mentioned in another review I had a problem with an entre and wanted something different and was told "NO". I managed to brush it off and go back again. This time for my wife's birthday. She got a dish she had gotten many times before - this time there was an ingredient on it that was not there at any other time. She sent it back and said that she did not like that ingredient. The server was came back with the same plate with no change and said that "It was right like it was". Now, my question is how can that be? How can it be right if the customer is saying it is wrong? Just fix the dish to be like she wants it. I suggested this to the server and the kitchen manager came back out with the same dish and said "This is how we always make this." At this point my wife is embarrassed and the rest of us are nearly done eating our dinner. She picks around it and tries to enjoy it anyway - I have a wonderful wife. They do not make it right in any manner. We put a good face on it to try and not ruin my wife's birthday dinner but they ruined it. They ruined it and did not offer anything to make it right. No dessert, no discount, no please come back here is a coupon. They did NOTHING!
We will never go back and we will never visit their newer place on the other side of town. The owner actually argued with me and I was one of the one's that he seemed to want to step outside and fight with. I didn't figure it was worth all that - though it was tempting to kick his #$%.
I DO NOT recommend this place in the strongest words possible.
- Pros: None that I can think of - except it is easy to stay away from.
- Cons: Everything - nothing good about it at all
Awesome rehearsal dinner...
by GABride at Citysearch
We had our rehearsal dinner at this venue up near Big Canoe. They handled 40 plus people in a flawless fashion. The food was great, the private room rocked and the service was friendly.
- Pros: atmosphere
- Cons: food is a bit pricey, but it is always tasty
Not Worth It

The food at Appalachian Grill is okay, and unless you are extremely affluent, or either extremely wasteful with money, you would only be able to afford a salad and soup. Between two entrees, one appetizer, and two drinks (a typical date) you would be spending close to 100 dollars. And the food isn't so mouth watering that it's worth the money. The prices alone make this resturaunt not very suited towards the average family, unless it were a special occasion and money was not an issue (and even then I would still prefer D'Morgans across the street, because the food is better). The portions at A. Grill are large, but if you try to split an entree you get charged a fee. And, unless you go on a weekday (and sometimes even then) you will have to wait anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes for a table. During lunch time, when people want to get in and out quickly, there can also be up to a 30 minute wait. And while some people are willing to do that, I am not willing to wait that long for dinner (or for lunch if I'm in a pinch). Seating is extremely limited and the facitlity and the owner are not accomadating to large parties. And, whatever you do, don't complain about your food if it's not up to your expectations, because you just may have a grumpy owner in your face wanting to argue with you about it. There are numerous cases of the owner getting into an all out brawl, an all out throw down with customers because they wanted their steak cooked longer or they didn't particularly care for this or that. I will say though, that the staff is extremely on point, and will bend over backwards to make customers happy. My advice: Go to D' Morgan's instead (who is a SUPER nice guy, and is super accomadating to special needs and special diets). Or, go to Barret Parkway instead.
- Pros: If you've never been in there, you may enjoy the blackbear, appalachia ambience
- Cons: you will grow a year older waiting to be seated
Crazy Policy!
by amyjabcon at Citysearch
They dont take reservations and they wont seat you until ALL in the party are present. (We were meeting a friend for dinner and wanted a drink and appetizer until she arrived...they REFUSED to seat us, as 'policy'.) Small waiting area. Slow service but excellent food.
- Pros: atmosphere, great food
- Cons: slow service, loud,, parking,, no reservations
Highly Edible Entrees

Large portions at reasonable prices. North Georgia Mountains spin on up-scale casual steaks/seafood/pasta/chicken. Excellent atmosphere, good service.
- Pros: great food, excellent fall drive, comfy ambience
- Cons: seatsfillquickfri/sat, bigpartiessatseparate
