A good time
by Gemini82
I love Henry's ! The food is outstanding , always is . Henry lets you know he appreciates your business by walking around and talking to customers. Henry was even out serving people in the cold at the taste of Acworth (food was great then too ). This is for sure one of my favorite local places to eat at .
- Pros: Delicious
- Cons: like any downtown area, limited parking
Great food, good service

Henry's is great! Try the Louisiana Ooh La La, it is absolutely incredible. Definitely worth a drive if you don't live in Acworth.
- Pros: The food is great!
- Cons: It can be a little noisy, but, have you ever eaten in New Orleans?
Wacky Henry, good food, impeccable but friendly service....

We've been going to Henry's since shortly after it opened, back when Henry, his wife, and his kids (then very little) practically lived in the place. Henry's quickly garnered a following. (It's not uncommon to see license plates from 10 or more counties parked up and down the street.) Food is very good and service quick and friendly. Despite having to wait on weekend nights for a table, once seated, diners never feel pressured to finish up and leave. Henry, whose chef's attire gets wilder by the week, personally greets guests at every table with his trademark opening line, "Welcome to my home!" and keeps his wait staff hopping. (I hear that he's a perfectionist both in the kitchen and out front; his young waiters know that he will tolerate nothing less than their best.) Portions are above average and guests can make substitutions without getting annoyed looks from the wait staff: For example, for one of the pasta dishes,I always substitute linguini for the angel hair pasta, which can be overcooked and sticky in any restaurant. One evening, my husband and and I, as well as two other couples, made a meal of appetizers. We ordered two of each, sat back with our generous drinks, and enjoyed a tasty variety. I've never had "room" for dessert at Henry's, but my husband and our friends all rave about them, as the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
- Pros: Friendly service, good food, variety of price points to suit every wallet.
- Cons: Dining room can be a bit noisy.
Great Food - Great Atmosphere

I absolutely love the food. My husband loves the Ooh La La - I love it all. They have some wonderful specials. You have to get there early or you will definitley have a wait - but it is well worth it. I have visited a lot of cajun restaraunts, but this is by far the best ever! The staff is very accomadating and the chef is always there to make sure that you are satisfied with your service and food. It takes a true cajun to have a succesful cajun restaraunt and we have found the perfect place!
- Pros: Great Food! Surrounded by Great Shopping
- Cons: Make reservations or get there early
Cajun food at it's best outside of Louisiana

I can't say enough about how good the food was. I've already recommend this place to 5 people and I only ate there last night.
- Cons: I understand reservations are a must on a weekend night
Great food - fun atmosphere

We went on a Saturday night. I highly recommend reservations as even with a reservation, we were seated 30 minutes after arriving; however, while waiting for a table, we ordered drinks from the bar. The bartender was very friendly and the service was quick. Lots of LSU fans at the bar and everyone seemed to be having a great time. While waiting, Chef Henry also came out and greeted guests and checked on the service out front.
Our server was Britney. Although my husband gave her a bit of a hard time, she was great. The service was quick and friendly without hovering. We started dinner out with the Hot Chili ?Gator. I?ve had fried alligator before, but it was chewy so I wasn?t looking forward to the gator at Henry?s. I was pleasantly surprised. The strips were very tender and the sauce was great. My husband thought it was a bit too salty, but I think they were perfect. It had just the right blend of sauce and heat. We also tried another appetizer, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was?.
My friend ordered the gumbo and wasn?t too impressed. We also ordered the Caesar salads which were citrusy, but pretty much lacking in any other flavor.
For dinner, we tried the Louisiana Ooh La La with both crawfish and shrimp. The sauce was a thick cream base served over angel hair pasta. Although the taste of the sauce was amazing, it didn?t pair well with the angel hair. The angel hair seemed to soak up the sauce and turn into a congealed mass. It would?ve been much better over a linguini or fettuccine noodle ? something that can hold up to a cream sauce.
We also had the blackened filet mignon that was on special that night. It was served with a mushroom bourbon sauce reduction and mashed potatoes. The filet was done to perfection. It was one of the best steaks I?ve ever had. The sauce was perfection and didn?t overpower the meat. Even the potatoes were wonderful. I would definitely order it again.
We?ll go back ? definitely.
- Pros: service and the food are both great
- Cons: some of the signature drinks are too sweet, but still tasty...
Unreliable Catering and Unethical Behavior
by brleck
I had always loved Henry's food, so I asked them to cater my wedding in July of 2007. They provided me with the menu options and the price per guest after a while, and I said great...please send me a contract to sign....And they never sent the contract to me, but we had lots of conversations about it over the past 4 months. And now on November 26th, 2007...4 months later they called to tell me that they got a better, bigger offer, and "we just don't have the man power to do both"....Thanks for dragging your feet for 4 months, and leaving me high and dry to find another caterer...I hope there is a good one left at this point!!!!!!
I'll never go back....You just don't do people that way! A verbal agreement should be just as good as a written one. Henry....you are only as good as your word! Shame on you!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Unreliable, Unethical service

Went there for a lunch on 08/02/07. Ordered the Oh-la-la and the Bayou Cake (lunch, not appetizer). Being somewhat a culinary aficionado, it takes a bit to impress me. I do have to say this place was definitely on the list of better places to eat in Acworth and the general surrounding area. The prices are reasonable and the food was spot on -- all the people who claim to 'know' what Louisiana food is supposed to taste like and then turn up their nose at this place don't know what they're talking about. They do have a few classic dishes and some nuevo-cajun stuff, which I particularly enjoy. The cake was tender, the seafood was fresh, and the seasonings weren't overpowering -- they added a nice depth of flavor and plenty of warmth. The service was polite and very attentive -- my drink was never half empty.
This place is definitely worth stopping by.
- Pros: Prices, Quality of Food, Service
- Cons: Busy downtown area, not enough seating
Good Food, Great Prices
by hatter782
This was 3 weeks ago so it's not too fresh, but 1 reviewer is correct in saying the selection of true louisiana cuisine is limited. Mostly a Southern favorites menu. But I have to say the food was extremely good and the portions adequate. My date had the etouffee and I the ooh la la. The prices can't be beat. Service was very good and slightly informal which I prefer. Just a bit on the noisy side from the size of the crowd. After the meal, the cook, I assume owner, maybe Henry himself, came out to greet us and check about the meal and service. I consider this to be a class act.
- Pros: Food, service and prices
- Cons: Kind of noisy
