I've been in Atlanta all my life. Pearson's in Buckhead has always been wine central for me. The Wine Store is very close to my house, but I didn't actually go in until a neighbor gave me a great bottle of wine as a gift - it came from the Wine Store. I thought I'd go check it out. What I discovered was that they have a varied selection and a knowledgable staff. And surprisingly on the mid level wines that I am interested in they have beaten Pearson's typically unbeatable prices. I'm really into Italian reds and I've found their prices to be quite competitive and reasonable. I still comparison shop, but I have to say The Wine Store is getting more and more of my business for my wine cellar - their employees aren't quite as uppity as several of the Pearson's employees tend to be. True, I don't see a varied staff - I usually work with the same man - but then I go when it's not really busy. I think that you could do far worse than to check this store out and do some comparison shopping.
Pros: Excellent variety and good prices on the wines I buy
Cons: Selection is not as wide as some of the big chains

There seems to be only one person in the entire store able to help people. No one else knows a thing about wine. I wouldn't mind paying their prices if there was someone there to give me service. I now just drive further from my home to stock the cellar. Too bad! Great location and concept but seems to be poorly run.
Pros: Location, Events Room, tastings
Cons: No service, High Prices

I first began shopping here for the convenient location but now that I live a little over 30 minutes away, I still find myself driving her to find my favorite Scotches, Bourbons & wines. What also is so great about The Wine Store is that they are so knowledgable on all of their products. Aside from being a Scotch lover I also like to try new red wines. Every bottle they have reccomended has been nothing but delicous! They taught me that I don't have to spend $60 on a bottle of wine to enjoy the taste! :)
Pros: Plenty of parking, Great entertainment, Fabulous tastings!

The location of this place is convenient to my home, but oh boy, they can't handle a special order! I have tried them on occasions (first over a year ago for Precis vodka) and then for two wines. They strung me along for a YEAR saying that the wines would be available in 2 weeks, then 4, then whatever. Over a year later, I decided to take my business elsewhere (constant run-around no fun) and found a place that got the wine for me in a week. If you need a bottle of vodka, they're fine, but generic. If you need a special anything, keep driving.
Pros: Good location
Cons: Bad service
