Buckhead's classic haunt is a dance heaven for empty-nesters
by Jonathan Baker at Citysearch
In Short
Talk about not having boundaries. This is like walking into a movie scene from another decade… made about another decade. Disco balls, old-school cigarette machines and cocktails served in goblet-like glasses cement the fact this dimly-lit, gaudy room isn’t like many others in our city. Gangs of the young, Buckhead set dance alongside the cut-a-rug mid-50s crowd, making it feel like a youth-invaded cougar-fest. Bouncers keep a close watch and looklike they just escaped from the mafia, strictly patrolling everything from the dress code to those sneaking drinks on the dance floor. All this seems strange when compared to the trendy bar-options in our nightlife-happy city, but Johnny’s is constantly packed. Maybe it’s throwing down with the older crowd that keeps things loose, or the wedding-reception-like excuse to dance, but for whatever reason, it’s tough not to have fun. Embrace it.
best dance club in town!!

This place is awesome! Music is great and the drinks are really strong. great late night stop- just don't touch the mirror ball!!
- Pros: only $5 cover on weekends
- Cons: smoky
Great value

A place where you have to go in knowing what to expect, a dance club for people 30 to 70. It takes a little time to get used to but if you like strong cocktails and top 40 dance tunes, it's for you. Everyone is smoking but they finally renovated the bathrooms.
- Pros: value, no-hassle
- Cons: crowded on weekends
a hideaway from reality

No excuse for rude valets...dont frequent Johnnys
by CDWIII at Citysearch
I have worked for almost 20 years as a restaurant manager in the Buckhead area. Saturday, May 25th I dropped by Johnnys for a nightcap with several employees of mine from the restaurant. I had parked in the lot adjacent to Johhnys, but my fellow co-workers innocently pulled into the Johnnys lot and parked in the first available space. (It was about 2am in the morning) The valets started yelling at him that the lot was valet only, so the driver got out of the car and promptly tipped them $5 for the space. Evidently this wasnt good enough for one of the valets as he started threatening my employees that if they didnt tip the valets, they werent getting into the club. I was aghast at this behavior and would like to discourage anyone that reads this to consider going to a different club where they have a clue what "hospitality" means. In addition...this club is all washed up anyways ...it used to be an Atlanta landmark, but now that it has been sold to new management, it has gone down hill fast.
- Cons: RUDE VALET
good for a fight...not a dance
by RaeAn at Citysearch
the crowd has changed and it is not the same. Too many fights and it appears they no longer care for the "older" crowd that supported them in the past. I won't be back.
- Pros: it used to be good
- Cons: the crowd has gotten young and the music with it
Great fun

I always have a great time going to Johnny's. Great music, girls and drinks. I enjoy their Sinatra singer Pat Sallarulo. Always puts on a great show. Mark Phillips does a nice job as Elvis. Go for a fun night out.
Party like its 1979!

Party like its 1979! No where else to throw on the Ascot and double breasted blazer and boogie down on the disco floor or have scotch in the Sinatra room.
