Great for dim sum
by DunwoodyM at Citysearch
We go there often with the kids for dim sum on the weekends and sometimes for dinner as well. We love the $5 lobster specials during there anniversary special
- Pros: grest food
- Cons: expensive for groups
Accessible Buford Highway restaurant attracts omnivores and vegetarians alike with its large menu and wildly popular dim sum.

The Scene
One of the less intimidating restaurants on Buford Highway, Canton House packs in couples and families for authentic Chinese cuisine. Inside, a flaming neon pictograph presides over rows of black lacquer chairs. The spacious, open dining room sports teal walls and pink tablecloths offset by bubbling tanks of live seafood and frosted glass decorative partitions. Service is efficient and friendly, and there's little or no language barrier.
The Food
The large menu features Americanized Chinese dishes, along with a strong selection of more authentic offerings. Look for pan-fried pot stickers with minced pork and scallions or crab meat with snow pea leaves, which includes generous portions of delicate greens and flavorful sauce. Pan-fried Cantonese noodles with beef and vegetables are flavorful, but lack sufficient crispiness. Best bets for vegetarians: savory spinach with garlic sauce and a particularly good Buddha's delight enhanced with wood ear mushrooms. Dim sum, served daily, is a big hit.
Great dim sum
by addie007 at Citysearch
It is certainly not as good as dim sum places in D.C or Vancouver or San Francisco or Singapore but it comes as close as you might get in the Southeast.
They offer a good variety of Chinese tea and if you know what kind to order, it comes pretty close to what I am used to in Singapore, where I grew up.
It has a decent variety although most of it have about the same taste. If you don't like seafood, you won't like dim sum. Almost every dish is a shrimp dish.
They have good spare ribs, custard tart, dumplings. You will need to be there early - right when they open to get the freshest foods.
- Pros: good dim sum
- Cons: getting expensive, increased their price
Authentic Dim Sum
by mdparrish21 at Citysearch
I won't go so far as to say it is the best Dim Sum, but it is authentic and exactly what you are looking for when in search of Dim Sum. They have plenty of Variety at the Canton House but most of this (as always) taste very close to each other. I strongly recommend the spring rolls. They were some of the best I have had.
- Pros: Authentic Dim Sum, Variety
