I wish I could eat there every day!

"Fresh!" is the first word that comes to mind when I think of La Madeleine. Atmosphere? Lovely. First time there? Make sure you take a moment to peruse the menu. One of my *very* favorite restaurants of all time! Only one disappointment ever, probably due to the speed in which it was prepared - the "Chicken La Madeleine" (Breast of chicken strips with mushroom sauce and broccoli florets - the chicken was rather tough with no signs of grilling, the pasta was extremely "Al dente", and the broccoli florets were raw). Otherwise, always a flawless meal. Particularily excellent choices: the enormous - even if the "small" size -"Wild Field Salade" with Caesar or vinaigrette dressing ($3.99), the homemade cup of "Tomato Basil Soup" ($2.79) (Bowl-$3.89), and my very favorite entree: the "Portabello Poulet Crepes" (Chicken with Portobello mushrooms and broccoli florets wrapped in a crepe, topped with mushroom sauce).
- Pros: Ever-freshly prepared, Fabulous ambiance!, Nice staff;great chef
- Cons: , Pick up a menu first, Pick crepes-not pasta

In Short
Hardwood floors, tables and chairs scattered in front of a fireplace; the decor is reminiscent of a French countryside cottage. Orders are placed at the front counter and brought to the table. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are available; however, patrons are invited to come just for a glass of wine or cup of coffee. No meal would be complete without trying the strawberries Romanoff--fresh strawberries topped with brandy cream sauce.
Unbeatable Atmosphere

I love this place for its atmosphere first and its food second. During the summer, we can spend hours sitting outside enjoying a bottomless cup of coffee and a wide array of mouthwatering deserts. The Sacher is divine and the Strawberry Napoleon just makes you crave for more. Come winter, the fire place gives the ambience of a cabin in the high mountains. The cafe recently expanded its menu to include a bistro-like selection of pastas and meat entrees. The Fondue Florentine is great when fresh and the Chicken Friand with creamy mushroom sauce is a sure winner for any pastry lover. Be prepared for a long line during weekends!
- Pros: romantic, plenty of parking
