I have been disappointed in the lack of quality at Macy's lately. They used to have much better stuff, but the quality has gone downhill.

clean, upscale vibe. always with the better selection of macys brands and the best selection of affordable name brand fashion. great customer service as well.

indifferent employees

my friend and i went to the lenox macy's on a tuesday. the store was almost empty of shoppers so i was surprised to find that although we spent at least 45 minutes in the women's clothing and shoe departments, not one employee offered to help us or spoke even a word of greeting to us. maybe we were invisible!

i won't purposely shop there again.

From a miracle on 34th Street to malls in the 'burbs, this is middle-class America's own department store.

The Scene
In 1857, R.H. Macy opened his eponymous dry goods store in New York City. The tally of his first day's receipts: $11.06. These days, under the aegis of Federated Department stores, Macy's anchors malls coast to coast, tallying millions in yearly sales.

The Goods
Macy's is every shopper's department store, located along the retail spectrum between Sears and Nordstrom.. Crowded displays boast second-tier labels: Lauren and Polo by Ralph Lauren, Reaction by Kenneth Cole, Allen by ABS. The shoe department features many upcale selections: Via Spiga, DKNY and Martinez Valero for the ladies and Cole Haan, Skechers and basic Bass loafers for the fellas. Otherwise, rely on staples: Wamsutta sheets, Royal Velvet towels, Clinique cosmetics, Gold-Toe socks and Carter's for kids.

Macy's Men's Store-Lenox Square-Terrific! 11/27/07 Update-Atlanta's Best Selection Of Neckwear!

Back when it was still Rich's, they did a very smart thing, and built a separate store for Men. Even today with the name change to Macy's, it's still like going to a specialty men's store. You can find any priced garmets, from designer to house brands. And some of the old Rich's staff remains, and they are terrific. We like the Polo Boutique, as well as Nautica, and up to the top floor, for Macy's own brands. Grab a cup of Starbucks at The Men's Store entrance, and do your own make-over for the day. Let the wives, girlfriends, or whatever, go do their own thing. 11/27/07 Update. The Lenox location of Macy's, has the largest and greatest selection of Men's Neckwear, any where. From Eagle to Nautica/Tommy Hilfiger, and Macy's own brand, ClubRoom. Whatever the occasion, I know I can depend on Macy's/Lenox for my neckwear needs.
