you get what you pay for...and that's a good thing!
by matthewsl
this place is exactly what an "in the city" southern food restaurant should be. the building, staff, and decor make you feel like you're back home in the country on a sunday afternoon. waitresses are friendly and the service is prompt. get there around 11:30 for lunch, it get's crowded quick. you get a meat, veggies, and bread with a sweet tea for a reasonable price. i've read other reviews that have complained about the service and the lack of free to-go cups. you want to sit around and be seen? go to taco mac on peachtree. you want a free to-go cup? stop at the mcdonalds drive-thru. this place is the perfect lunch spot for those who work in the city and want a taste of home on their hour long lunch break.
- Pros: southern cooking at its best
- Cons: can get a bit crowded
still open?
by biker88
every time i go by this place they're closed for one reason or another-oops it's a weekend-we're closed--oops-it's a holiday we're closed for 10 days--do they want to be open for business or not--
when I did finally catch them open--hurry they close at 2pm--they want you to eat and leave-not necessarily in that order--just get up and go--and don't expect to take your tea with you without an extra take out charge!
doesn't seem too "southern hospitality" to me- I'll find a place that actually welcomes my business -in this day and age with this economy you wonder how they stay in business with this approach to business
Good food and very nice service

I agree with a previous review . . . you get what you pay for. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less. This is country cooking by name, and it is good. It is not a Starbuck's where you are encouraged to linger. They want to get the customers in and out. That is good service. I don't have a leisure lunch of unspecified time, so appreciate the fact that they strive for effeciency. Most of the time, I am in and out in 30 minutes. The drink refills are free, and if you want to take one out the door, why wouldn't you expect to pay for the cup? Go to Buckhead if you want to hang out for hours at lunch, but you won't get out for only 7 bucks or so like you do at Bobby and June's
- Pros: good quick service
- Cons: not a trendy Buckhead joint, but who care?
Great Southern style place

If you are looking for that since of the small town diner, this is it. Folks are friendly, service is prompt and served with a smile and the food was what you expect from your grandmother. Well at lease my grandmother.
The Real Deal

True southern food - meat , veggies and sweet tea. Bobby is the greatest and this place is a true gem.
- Pros: Biscuits and Sweet Tea - More Please!
- Cons: Standing in Line Wait - worth it
oops-my mistake

don't waste your time or money-- the old saying--"you get what you pay for" is true. This place looks cheap and is cheap. The owner even charges you for jelly at lunch( it isn't breakfast anymore). They also charge for to go cups--even after you've eaten and want to take your drink back to work--CHEAP!!! The food was below par, tasted like canned overcooked in a hurry veggies. They also push you out the door as soon as you take your last bite-- wow great service--NOT!! Save yourself the time and find another spot.--NOT GOOD.
- Pros: can't think of one
- Cons: too many
And the Award for Best Use of Fatback Goes to...
by brent1971
Bobby and June's!!! I have always eaten breakfast here and its been great. Have tried the BBQ sandwich before and its better than average. Today was my first introduction to the "sides". I had the mac and cheese - creamy with crunchy top, creamed potatoes and gravy - perfecto and the green beans - enough fat back to make you wanna smaaack yo mama. The steak and gravy was not the crispy fried variety that I was hoping for but all in all it was a great meal. I'm not a big vegetable lover but these were so good I would consider getting a veggie only plate the next time I go. Oh... and the cornbread was exactly how it should be. No sugar and a little crispy on the bottom.
- Pros: Good Country Cookin
- Cons: I didn't marry June?
Best Country Breakfast In ATL!
by jaymaygm
Right on 14th.St. in Midtown, is the best country style breakfast anywhere. We usually start with an order of country ham, red-eye gravy(ham grease and coffee), cheese grits, scrambled eggs, and an ever filling cup of coffee. Blue collar, white collar, Tech students, or anyone else who knows the area, comes here for a real downhome breakfast. And don't forget the biscuits. They have a lady that makes them fresh everyday. And lunchtime is good also, with BBQ, but the real draw for us is breakfast. Crusty big-haired ladies serve.
- Pros: Excellent Home-style Country Breakfast! Country Ham!
- Cons: Parking Can Be Tight!
good food and pleanty of it

One day when I was walking over to the Kool Korner with another coworker we noticed this restaraunt. I wasn't quite sure what to make of its rustic looking exterior, but it looked like a step up from the shack that houses Kool Korner. Faced with a long line we decided to do takeout. I was a little scared when I saw the outdated interior. However, the pork I got was qutie tasty and came with 2 big helpings of sides. I'd also recommend the biscut over the toast. Quite a huge meal, and very fast when you do takeout. I've been back several times and it is always good. I like the fact that their sides selection has depth beyond french fries and baked beans. Also there are always side specials so I don't feel like I am always getting the same thing. Definately worth trying out.
- Pros: great sides, big menu
- Cons: long wait at lunch, dated interior
Arrive early for lunch
by kathy30340
After noon during the week, you'll wait in line for seatingm, and large patrons will not be comfortable in the tiny back dining room. Regulars include local celebrities. For down home service and comfort food, you can't beat it. At lunch, order cornbread - the biscuits might be left over from breakfast and a little chewy. Be ready to order dessert or leave when you finish - they turn tables in a hurry. All that said, it's one of my favorite places in town.
- Pros: So southern
- Cons: Unhealthy
