special restaurant but very rich food

by lautumnh at Citysearch

i have been here several times, both on dates with my husband and with groups of friends. it is a very special dining experience. the service is impeccable. the food is decadent and clearly made with love and skill. yes the portions are small, but they are very rich, and i can never eat it all. in addition to the courses you order, they serve all sorts of little surprises between courses. the last time i was there, i jokingly asked the waiter if he was trying to hurt me by serving me all the food. he didn't get my joke, but i left feeling ill from all the butter. i think it's too rich for me!

  • Pros: special, decadent, romantic
  • Cons: don't feel well after so much rich food

Exceptional fine dining.

by nicolae at Citysearch

The taste, the flavors, the fresh ingredients - not many chefs like these in this world. ( Not a metaphor.)

Flawless, unobtrusive service. Accurate, invisible help.

Interior is Swiss bank smart, clear, efficient.

Location - who cares.

Price - you get what you pay for. Value - the other way 'round.

Superb service with great food

by TheDaniels at Citysearch

We went here for our 5th wedding anniversary a few years back. I am just now writing a review because I have always read reviews when I am choosing a new restaurant, and they have been very helpful to me. I was taking my husband out, so we didn't discuss price before hand (I already knew what to expect). The food was very good and well prepared. My favorite was the crab cake fritters we had as appetizers (drizzled with an Asian source). You were really able to taste the freshness in each course, and the wait staff was outstanding. This restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and is great for couples looking for privacy. When the check came at the end of the evening, my husband was a little shocked but never said it wasn't worth it.

  • Pros: Definitely food and service

bland food

I spent way too much money for average food. The best thing I had there was pea soup (a gift from the chef!)

Save your money and palate.

  • Pros: manager was great
  • Cons: food, price, setting

BEST OUT OF BEST!!!

i will most definitely coming back to this restaurant. The service was awesome, superb, flawless and so was the food. The chefs was unbelieveable, they make the MOST unimagineabe heavenly food ever. Sooo friggin' delicious.. I might sound a little too much here.. but seeing is believing. if u're in town and crazy for french cuisine (even if u're not crazy of french cuisine) u've totally got to try this place. i promise u wont get dissapointed. The place has a really good ambience too. Good for a little romantic dinner or a little business meeting. and i think the price is very reasonable for what u gonna get here. i dont even think its pricey at all. Overall my experience with Bacchanalia was 1000% satisfied.

  • Pros: Everything!!!

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY!!!

by moe932 at Citysearch

A memorable experience! I had the wine tasting menu and thought it was a bargain compared to the prices you see in NYC for similar style, and not necessarily as good, dining. The food was absolutely wonderful, fresh and presented beautifully; the staff was friendly and attentive; the wine choices were very enjoyable but "safe." The oysters topped with lemon sorbet and osetra were the absolute, over the top, best oyster preparation I've ever had. Fresh, icy cold, briny....the bomb!! The duck, the cheese course, the desert were almost equal. I adored all of the "gifts" that arrived at my table; a goat cheese gougere, a shooter of cold soup, light as a feather ricotta dumplings with shaved truffles (OMG!,) buttermilk pannacotta, cookies, chocolate. I dined alone and was made very comfortable; if you ever dine alone you know how weird and rushed the waitstaff can make you feel. For the naysayers who reviewed before me, clearly, you don't know fine dining so stick to Applebees. Bacchanalia is the ONLY reason I'll ever go back to Atlanta.

The ONLY Atlanta restaurant that could stand up on the international stage...

by natp at Citysearch

great service and fantastic, unpretentious food in a relaxed yet formal atmosphere. Bacchanalia is all about good ingredients made into something great worth eating. The only criterion being that everything tastes fabulously delicious and boy does it! Try it! Don't be put off as we nearly were - this restaurant is about showcasing food not people. A visit to Bacchanalia is a truly special and positively unforgettable experience, not to be missed. Go and enjoy!

  • Pros: Fabulous food, service and ambience. Star provisions is not to be missed either.
  • Cons: Plan ahead to book.

It deserves the accolades

Finally got there. Made reservations weeks in advance as suggested and thank goodness we did based on how crowded it was for a Tuesday. It was indeed superb dining. No question. Probably the best waitstaff I've ever experienced. All courses beautifully prepared. All wines were delicious and the pairings were excellent although I think the choices were safe (my hubby disagrees with the safe thing so take it for what it's worth). Only one caveat to the whole meal. Each time a course was served two of us received our dishes but the third person had to wait. The wait was noticeable enough that I'm writing about it. Odd considering the exceptional staff, not to mention quantity of said exceptional staff. All that being said, this was a delightful dining experience and one that anyone who enjoys fine dining should run not walk to. One last thing. I was a little surprised at the very casual dress of some patrons. Dressy on a weeknight may be a bit much but a jacket minimum and a optional tie for gentlemen was totally appropriate. This is some of the finest dining in Atlanta. Let's show it some respect!!!!!

  • Pros: Wonderful Evening Out
  • Cons: Zilch

Great Dining Experience

by food928 at Citysearch

Bacchanalia is consistently one of the most honored restaurants in the city, and after dining there for the second time last night, I can truly say that this reputation is more than deserved. Everything from my wonderful service, including the gracious hostess and server, to the delicious food made my Valentine's dinner superb. Looking at some of the comments below, I can only wonder if these people could have eaten at the same establishment, or simply have incredibly bad taste. In addition, since when are personal attacks on members of restaurant staff acceptable in food reviews? I go to Citysearch to read about the food, atmosphere and service at restaurants, not to read catty remarks about peoples' appearances. Again, Bacchanalia is amazing, and I will definitely go there again. Qmfb520, maybe you should check out T. G. I. Fridays: I hear that the food is pretty cheap and all the hostesses are skinny high schoolers, so it would probably be more appealing to your taste.

  • Pros: Great food, service and atmosphere
  • Cons: Recommend making reservations far in advance and restaurant tends to fill up quickly

Interesting and likable, but probably not the best

by raekatjae at Citysearch

I had a nice experience, but I don't think it is for everyone. Only one dish (my first course) was outstanding. The rest was very good and the restuarant has a lovely atmosphere. I liked the little samples they brought out between the courses. I'm just not sure I would choose Bacchanalia over other restuarants that I like in Atlanta and it has nothing to do with the price. The end result was a good nice meal, when you were hoping for something that would be great.

  • Pros: Atomosphere and proximity to Star Provisions.
  • Cons: Still trying to figure out what the fuss was about.
