I have taken almost all of my first dates to Whole World, and EVERY single one has absolutely loved it! (Tuesday and Thursday nights) The staff treats you like gold! Each show I've seen has been original, entertaining, and funny!

  • Pros: Original and funny! Perfect for a first date or weekly entertainment!!
  • Cons: They don't serve mixed drinks or food.

Gimmicky and repetitive

by moo89 at Citysearch

The first time we went we had fun. But the 2nd time, they basically did the same show. And it was funny, but... a lot of the jokes felt stupid the 2nd time around. Like they did this game where the MC can control the actors with remote control, and make them go forwards or go in reverse or whatever. And they did that in both shows we saw. And one particular thing was they crawled through this window, then reverse back through the window, then forwards through the window. I dont know. It's funny, but it's kind of stupid too. It was the same show twice. It just didnt seem that great to us. It's like they found a gimmick that people laughed at the first time, and they just keep doing it. They have a thing where they do different voices, and that was pretty funny. But to me that's stand up comedy, not improv. And they asked the audience a lot of questions that they use in the scenes, so that's pretty fun. But some of the answers to the questions were so obvious, you know that they must have heard that before, and I bet they did the same thing as a result. It just seemed repetitive. Overall... it's good I guess. But I've seen better.

  • Pros: cheep beer
  • Cons: Not very good improv, expensive tickets

Nothing like it in Atlanta!

I had a blast when I went to Whole World -- It was the perfect outing for a big group of friends. Everyone enjoyed the show, and the actors seemed to be having alot of fun onstage. Overall, definitely a unique experience, and one that I will try again!

  • Pros: Show, Beer, Crowd
  • Cons: Parking ($5)

Whole World Rocks

by jcb30093 at Citysearch

I have been to Dad's Garage as well as Second City in Las Vegas and Chicago and the best shows are consistently at Whole World on Spring Street. The approach is less manic and there is great effort made to keep the scenes credible and tastefully done. Stick around and meet the cast...the audience is their family and after the show is a reunion. There is something GREAT going on at Whole World...join in and play.

  • Pros: Great value, Cheap beer, Fun atmosphere
  • Cons: None!

Wickedly funny, sharply hip improv comedy.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
A local word-of-mouth success story, Whole World Improv began as a wandering comedy troupe in the early 1990s. In June 1996, the company opened a storefront spot on Spring Street, and it's been sold-out crowds ever since. As of summer 2002, Whole World started presenting serious dramas in Third Space, a black box next to the improv stage. Whole World produces new actors, too, in acting classes that range from basic improv to advanced.

The Draw
With a bar serving beer and wine just outside, the theater holds 125 tiered seats that face the worn home-styled stage head-on. A rowdy emcee moderates from stage left, taking cues from the audience to direct a group of high-energy actors. If you show up without a ticket, you can always kick back and watch a live broadcast in the theater's lounge, where a jumble of old easy chairs face a wall-sized screen.

Crazy Ivan loves this place!!!!

by macnitram at Citysearch

Read the title and that sums it up. Look at the other reviews to see how great the show is but I want to tell you just how wonderful the people are!!! It all starts off with a great selection of ice cold beers (single or by the bucket) or a nice glass of wine brought to you by the wonderful Leah. Mingle around before the show and cheers to others in the very refreshing crowd. Then it kicks off to one hell of a show w/ Chris, Chad, or one of the others as your MC. You'll love the comical tunes of my favorite, Tammy (Go Eagles!!!). No two shows are ever the same as I have been 5 times. Make sure you stick around after the official show to meet the masterminds for a little one-on-one as these people are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet.

  • Pros: great crowd, cheap beer, friendly atmosphere
  • Cons: side aches

Gotta change my diapers!

by chris hall channel 101 at Citysearch

When my friends told me that's where we were going, I was expecting some lame "who's line is it" garbage... but these guys had me rolling from the start! LOVED IT! It's a funky scene and whoever's playing the cartoons is a little twisted... just enough for intermission. I'll be back over and over again!

  • Pros: Hilarious!, CHEAP BEER!
  • Cons: Pay Parking ($5)

What a great time!

by deevah678 at Citysearch

The Whole World Actors are some of the best I have seen in Atlanta. The show flows with non-stop comedy and the video skits had us all laughing hysterically. I highly recommend an Improv show for a group or a date. The price is right for the show and we all left smiling.

  • Pros: fun atmosphere

Saved a date going downhill!

by jacksoncampbell at Citysearch

I was taking a girl on a first date, and dinner had gone really, really bad (don't go to Sal Grosso - it's not worth it). We decided that since we had already bought tickets we would go down to the show.

These guys saved the night!

Man, these guys had us falling out of our seats... I'm not sure what was better, the scenes on the stage or the videos they had going on! I can never look at car alarms the same again!

This is going to sound corny, but if we had not gone down to the show, there would not have been a second date!

  • Pros: Cheap Beer!, Funny as hell!, Very relaxed

BETTER THAN EVER!

by lynglee at Citysearch

I went to a show Saturday night, haven't been in a while. One of the first things I noticed was a lot of new faces running out from backstage to greet the audience. Well, I loved the actors I had seen the last few times, so I was holding my breath. But I wasn't disappointed. In fact it was great to get to see that the new actors could make us laugh just as hard as ever. These guys just keep getting better and better! They got a roaring standing ovation and my friends can't stop talking about it!

Definitely try this instead of the same old scene on the weekend. (The trick to getting a couch is to get your tickets early)

  • Pros: good price range, something different, great for visitors
  • Cons: lame audiences
