Here is a summary of issues we have had since being signed u

by AtlSales at Citysearch

Here is a summary of issues we have had since being signed up with the services from City Search.

Dishonest about how services are billed.

-I was given a different impression of how the site operates after talking to the citysearch employee for over 2 hours. I was given the impression that the site made income from adds placed by larger companies in the form of banner adds or featured sections. I have been involved with several different sites and they offer free advertisements and paid advertisements if you want a banner or bigger adds.

-Their was about 1-2 hours of conversation before the signup agreement where there was no mention of the service costing anything. Then during the signup process I was abruptly asked for my credit card information and was told the service would be $10/month, which is no problem, "with an investment of $1000/month." That's when I immediately stated that I can't afford this. Instead of looking out for the interest of me the customer, she was more intent on making a sale. She then replied that it is only a limit. She stated that "it is $1000 at a dollar a click, but if 1000 people contact you then it's worth every dollar." This statement would further imply that $1=1 contact. I at this point was under the understanding that the "Click" that was discussed earlier was in reference to clicking the link for contact information.. With this in conjunction of the possible number of people in Portland looking for a makeup artist for a wedding, I was under the impression I would be looking at $20-$50 a month. In actuality the service entails $1 per profile view not a dollar per click. If this was described and explained correctly I would have under no circumstances signed up for City Search. Not only is the explanation blatantly confusing but also borders dishonest. I would like to add that after finding out how services were billed I immediately attempted to terminate the service. Given the circumstances an exception could have been made for an early termination of services.

The profile itself was incomplete and poorly constructed.

-The profile was put together with very little care being a victim of numerous grammatical errors and obvious misspellings. Not only is this unacceptable especially for an add company but makes my business look careless and incompetent.

-Second I was also listed more than once, one of which was under the wrong category. there was one profile listed under Cosmetics which was correct, but another profile listed under Hair Salons. I am not a salon and have nothing to do with hair which should have been pretty apparent during the 2 hour phone conversation with the person signing me up. I signed up for one listing under Cosmetics. This looks like nothing more than a tactic to rack up profile views at a dollar a click especially when comparing the number of people looking for a makeup artist for their wedding with the number of people looking for a place to get their hair cut.

Out of the $1600.00+ that was charged to our business card for the over 1900 clicks we had in that 3 month period we were contacted by a total of 2 people. There is no way that many actual people clicked on that page.

Customer service.

Simply on an added note, In an attempt to sort all of this out, I had my significant other and partner in the business Jonathan call and try to work everything out. The gentlemen that he spoke to in customer service was not only uncompassionate of our situation but also very unprofessional. Very few questions were asked pertaining to how he could help and upon seeing that things were far from getting resolved he asked to speak to a supervisor. He was flat out told no. He than had to pry to find out who he could talk to for help. He then had to ask there isn't any one else to talk to? No supervisor or manager? at that point he was then told after a long pause simply they're in a meeting.

Free tickets

by MarcusATL at Citysearch

We had a great time. Can't believe all the trifflin' reviews. I got free tickets. Right on the ticket it said "two item minimum" . I have been to comedy clubs in NY and LA and they ALL have a two item minimum. What do you want? To get in free and buy nothing? Broke AZZ go kill yourself. I had a great time and would be happy to buy tickets next time and I am planning to so I can see Paul Mooney. Out of all the comedy clubs I have been to this is the best cause it's OURS. Not some club that just does black acts to get our money. The line is LONGGGG cause it's the place to be. Don't worry Uptown we will all be back just keep the comedy comin'.

  • Pros: Great Comedians, good food lots of laughs

SCAM: all positive reviews are FAKE, check the profile

by merchant463933 at Citysearch

EVERY positive review for this business only has one review on its profile... and who do you think they reviewed? You guessed it...

Dont be fooled. They do get some good comedy acts, but they treat people like crap.

DO NOT GO HERE

by sexyk at Citysearch

I WENT HERE FOR MY 21ST BDAY back in may 09 and OMG lol I went by myself bc my boyfriend is in KS and I just moved to ATL so I didnt know anyone and I wanted to get out. First off when you walk in the door the security was looking at me like I was retarded. The host TOLD me to go sit in VIP so I did...but I couldnt see so I moved to the middle area and she came over there trying to yell at me like she was my mama saying YOU CANT SIT HERE YOU ONLY HAVE 1 PERSON, its a nicer way to say stuff and she didnt use the nice way but I got up anyway and moved to the tables against the wall in the back but I coiuldnt see anything so I went back to VIP and she gonna stop me and tell me that I cant move nomore I need to make up my mind I almost cursed her out but I didnt. They are very very very very rude there and have no respect. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life. And it took the waitress forever to bring me my drinks and they were not even good. But the show was good but I would not go back customer service ruined everything.

The worst customer service ever!!!!!

by lashantel at Citysearch

I've been to the comedy club in the past and the experience was not the best but I wanted to give them another chance. In the past they started late, didn't bring your drinks and food out to the show was almost over and the wait staff was never around. I was excited about going to the comedy club for a birthday party this time. We purchased our tickets in advance, thinking we were going to end the night with a good laugh. Well, I must say that I have never been treated so poorly at any establishment. When it comes to hanging out, my friends and I are very calm and down to earth. We are not demanding and we just try to make the best of any situation. When we arrived there was a long line but we soon discovered that the place was empty. The show was to start at 10:30 and we arrived at 10:45 and they still had people standing outside. That should have been our first sign that this was going to be a terrible experience. When we made it into the club, there were several tables available. The so called hostess wanted to sit us in the corner where we could not see the stage. We asked for a table that was more visible to the stage and she stated she had to sit us in order. She continued to roll her head and "curse" about us not wanting to sit in the corner. Please keep in mind that they did not have a full house and there were at least 15 empty tables available. As she was sitting another couple I notice they pointed to a different table than she was directing them to and she allowed them to sit. I kindly asked her why she was giving us a problem about were to sit. She then stated, with an attitude that we could sit at a table that we were standing near. By the time we sat down it's now 11:00 and still no show. We were very surprised to find that security was sent to our table. Well, not sure if I should say security guard or just another employee with a bad attitude. He came over and stated that we had to move over to the corner seat or leave and they would give us a refund. We first asked to see the manager and he stated he was the manger (liar on top of everything else). We gladly stated that we would prefer to leave because the experience with the hostess had already turned us off to any entertainment and we did not want to cause any trouble. When we got up front the so called security guy took our receipts and went in the back. When he came back with the “manager" or so he say. We explained the situation to the manager and he stated he was going to give us a refund. We were relieved and awaiting to soon discover that he was a LIAR as well. The "manager" came back out and stated that he would not give us a refund because there were several empty tables in the house. We decided to leave without the refund because it was not worth the hassle and obviously they all were unprofessional. The bottom line is I’ve never had such a terrible experience like this in my life. It's very sad to see that some African American, managed or owned establishments still do not know how to service people. I can honestly speak for myself and friends and say they will NEVER get my business again. I would highly recommend that Uptown hire and train professional staff if they expect to be in business for a long time. With this kind of service they will not survive.

Great Place

by 7milerepresenter at Citysearch

I visited Uptown for the third time this year, I agree parking is an issue. But there is free parking up the block. The comedians were very funny. All employees were friendly including security. The two item minimum is something different but hey we only paid 20 dollars this time and recieved free tickets both times before that, I realize they have to make money somewhere. I went to Katt Williams at the civic center a couple of months ago paid 80 per ticket and 30 to park. Now that was a rip off. I enjoy comedy. I have tried other venues and quality per dollar uptown is by far the best. My service was excellent no complaints from me or my guest. We will return and recommend it highly to everyone!!!!

  • Pros: service, value
  • Cons: parking (hard to find a spot when busy)

You get what you pay for...

by Jossy2010 at Citysearch

Ok after reading everyone's review I had to weigh in on UCC. I have visited at least 10-15 times and have never paid...DON'T PAY...wait to get the free tickets...they give them out very freely.

The two item mininum that's a joke...are they a comedy club or strip club. This past saturday I was there I was told by a waitress they only serve bottled water for $2.75 and use the soda for alcoholic beverages. My friend asked what about people who do not drink alcohol and was told get water. It was the Nestle Pure Life waters...those you can get a pack of for like $3.99. What a ripoff. When I went on wed. my friend let the manager know what happened the previous visit and she gets the waitress whom apologized all the while laughing in our faces saying it was a mistake. Another friend ordered 2 beers and paid almost $20...what's up with that????

As for parking, if you do not mind walking a block then park down the street...it's free. Eat and drink before you go or else they will get you everytime. My experiences have not been all that bad, but they haven't been anything grand either. I will continue to go there and enjoy the shows, but I now bring $5 cash and concsider it to be my cover.

Overall if you don't expect much then you won't be disappointed.

  • Pros: Comediens, Free tickets,
  • Cons: Parking, Waitstaff, Rude, Unorganized
