Great Bartenders, Good Show, and nice place to hangout

by Jettison04 at Citysearch

I used to live in ATL and make it a one time a year thing to visit ATL and all the bars. I just love to hang out at Blake's and watch the shows. Parking is usually a little tight, but if you know your way around you can find some close street parking. The bartenders are great, especially Andrea (my girl). There is usually a good crowd, and a line for the restrooms, but the place is always great fun!!

  • Pros: shows, bartenders, staff, lots of people
  • Cons: parking, no dance floor

Midtown gay institution delivers a laid-back scene and people-watching at happy hour.

by Brian Suber at Citysearch

In Short
Blake's, which boasts some of the cutest and friendliest bartenders in town, holds strong as the neighborhood boy bar, located a stone's throw from Piedmont Park and a few steps from the historical Atlanta gay epicenter of 10th and Piedmont. While a DJ spins the latest tunes and TVs showcase sexy video clips, flocks of 20- and 30-somethings mix and mingle with an unbeatable view of the street action. Nightly events such as karaoke and drag shows keep the place hopping. An upstairs screened porch provides a break from the exploits inside. Packed top to bottom early in the evening for Happy Hour and later on weekends, crowds get younger as the night ages and the more established clientele take it to the house. This watering hole is great for early nights and as a warm-up to an evening on the town It's also a convenient place to duck in for drinks after an afternoon in the park.

Avoid this place!

by JamieMartinez at Citysearch

I used to be a regular customer until recently. The drinks are over priced. You can go to Burkharts, Bellissima, Oscars or Heritic and drink $2 / $3 dollars cheaper!

The place is filthy and the bathrooms are so nasty that some guys go outside the building to relieve themselves!!!

The food was good until recently everything tasted like it was left over. The hamburgers are never cooked fully and sometimes come frozen inside. I mean I like my burgers well to medium not raw.

I went with some of my Lesbian friends and they where treated very badly. I could not find any sign of a manager and it seemed like the bartenders where drinking ( partying ) more that the patrons.

Atlanta offers much better than this so check out the alternatives before giving over your money to this place.

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Drink prices too high, poor customer service, dirty bathrooms, sketchy bartenders

Good location, hot bartenders, average food, mean drag queens

by mikejohnson11 at Citysearch

Great location!! This place is just around the corner from my house, and I take my guest there for night caps when I am feeling lazy. The bartenders are good looking and the atmosphere is cool. The shows can be hard to see sometimes but Kitty is great! The largest down side to the place is the fat drag queen Ruby Red.

She is mad at her own mama...(why is she still working there?), anyway check it out if you can when Kitty is working, its worth it.

  • Pros: cute bartenders, location, Kitty Le Claw
  • Cons: Ruby Red (the angry fat one)

Great Entertainment!

by mcoreo at Citysearch

My friend convinced me to go here and I must say it is a great place to hang out! Drinks are strong and the entertainment is great the music is great it is all good! Parking can be a hassle but it is worth it is you want to do something different. The bartender "Leslie" is fantastic, she makes the best drinks and has good convo for you if you are not watching a show! I love Ruby Red, not P.C. and that is what I love! !

  • Pros: Great entertainment and drinks, Ruby Reds show
  • Cons: Parking

Hands Down Best Bar

by ugagrad83 at Citysearch

I just moved to Atlanta a little over a year ago and have ventured into all of the gay/lesbian bars. Blake's is the only bar where not only are all of the bartenders hot but they are always smiling and treat everyone the same no matter how rude some customers can be. If you're ever intown this is definitely the bar to go to no matter what your taste is.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Hot Bartenders, Hot Crowd

Reminds me a lot of a straight bar.

by city_searcher_42 at Citysearch

Maybe it's because there's a lot of straight folks or maybe it's because the guys don't seem to be interested in other guys. Overall, it's a nice place once you get past the mobile-home-looking side of it. It looks and feels like a classy straight bar. There's some people there alone but not really recommended for solo barhopping. Younger crowd fo' shizzle. There's lines for the bathroom but I think you'd be pretty drunk to use a bar bathroom anyway. That's just me though. No dance floor so no dancing here.

  • Pros: classy lower level, Prices OK, so-so crowd
  • Cons: parking, Not cruisy at all.
