Satisfied my sweet tooth!
by foodeetoo at Citysearch
Went to Cafe Intermezzo the other night for dessert after a dinner night out. Dessert was the best part of the night! The tiramisu was great. So was my Irish coffee. So many desserts I had a hard time choosing. Everything looked so good. Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind becuase we spent so much time staring at all the yummy desserts!
- Pros: Desserts and coffee
- Cons: slow service
eat dessert first!

We stopped by specifically for some desserts and were not disappointed by the wide array of amazing treats in the cases. Staff were friendly and helpful in navigating all the options and listing ingredients. They had a ton of different options to choose from which was great since one of our party is allergic to chocolate. Service was just a little slow but the food was so good we didn't care.
- Pros: the carrot-cheese-cake alone is worth the trip
- Cons: service was a little slow
great late dessert

Cafe Intermezzo is open late, and gives great service. They food/desserts/drinks are very tasty as well. Not too overpriced... It can get real crowded during the weekends, and you end up having to wait outside for your reservation to be called, good thing there are heaters OUTSIDE! I've always loved this place for their service, hours, and foods.
- Pros: good dessert, price, atmosphere
- Cons: super busy weekends
open late

I happened upon Intermezzo when I first moved to Atlanta in 2002 and have gone with some frequency ever since. I will say the place is consistent in its inconsistency. Sometimes the food is excellent, as is the service. At other times, the food is okay and the service is atrocious. I had a run in 2005 where the service was consistently good, but the last time I went (February 2006), I was served by someone who was apparently sent home, and was only replaced when I complained to a manager. His replacement was also terrible, possibly because he had too many tables. All told, it was shocking, and I wasn't even comped anything.
The selection at the bar and the desserts are always top notch, as is the atmosphere. Anything else? You pays your money, you takes your chances.
- Pros: Dessert, Drink Menu, Atmosphere
- Cons: Service, Service, Service!!!
European-style bistro and coffeehouse lures locals with romantic atmosphere and an extra-large dessert case.

The Scene
This Buckhead mainstay, modeled after a Viennese coffeehouse, is always hopping. During the day, professionals linger over Irish coffee and sandwiches on the open-air patio, while at night, starry eyed couples cozy up in the candlelit rooms. Larger groups meet in the welcoming space for coffee and conversation. The personable waitstaff adds to the friendly vibe.
The Food
Decadent cakes and pastries--like espresso-soaked tiramisu, rich chocolate cheesecake and flaky berry tarts--star, but an eclectic menu of hearty Italian entrees and savory small plates is worth sampling. Appetizers are outstanding: Garlic shrimp, served in a light cream sauce, is bread-mopping good, while the smoked salmon plate and chicken quesadillas are filling enough for a meal. Extra-large entrees--mainly sandwiches and pastas--are hearty, so be prepared to take most of your meal home.
European-like café in Atlanta

The desserts are simply amazing. They have a fresh selection of cakes every night. Their coffee is O.K. While the specialized expresso coffees are good, they often seem overpriced for what they are. Regular coffee is not so great because it's weak. Service is often friendly but slow. I would HIGHLY recommend going here after dinner with that someone special (special enough that you're concentrating on him/her and not the fact that your cake hasn't arrived).
- Pros: Great desserts, Romantic
- Cons: , Service lacking, Crowded
one of my fave spots

I always make my dates take me to Intermezzo because they have great lighting which makes you look gorgeous! That aside, a few times there was extremely great service and a few times there was extremely horrible service. So, I don't think they are too picky about their waiters. They have a HUGE selection of drinks that are delish and to die for desserts. And the chili shrimp salad is the bomb diggedy.
Dinner at Cafe Intermezzo

Lovely place for hanging with friends. The desserts are WONDERFUL. However, for the main course, be sure it is what you want and you will DEFINITELY like it. I was completely embarrased one afternoon in Jan/2003, when I raved to a good friend about Cafe Intermezzo. We had lunch on a Saturday, she ordered her meal, took one bite and discussed with the waiter her dislike. He (waiter) stated she would have to pay for the meal anyway and offered a complimentary salad for the dish, that was probably 15 times the amount of the salad. She declined and vowed to never visit the establishment again. We discussed the matter with the GM. She (GM) stated that was the restaurant's policy and gave us 2 complimentary cards for a free dessert OR hot cocoa upon our next visit. Still like the place (atmoshpere), but I am dining elsewhere.
- Pros: Great atmosphere, Patio is lovely, Desserts are great
- Cons: Parking is awful, No Refunds on food
very posh place
