What service? Can we self-serve at this point?

The entree I ordered was the veggie fajitas which was pretty good. My boyfriend had the meatloaf which was a little better than mediocre but still pretty bland despite the asparagus sculpture created on his plate. Although I would probably go back to this place for some decent vegetarian food if the time allowed, the service was pretty much nonexistent. Our waiter came to our table twice. Once to take orders, and once because we practically had to trip him to get more drinks and our check. Someone else brought the food. He was only serving two other parties of two. I thought we were never going to get out of there. The artwork on the wall was pretty neat and very inspired by Jason Pollock, which created a relatively cool atmosphere. So in closing, I say, if you have an entire evening to spend sitting down to eat some pretty good vegetarian food, go for it. But I suggest bringing your own gallon of water to drink.

good food, but the service sucked

I checked out Cafe Sunflower for the first time last night, and the food was great, everything tasted very fresh, and had beautiful presentation. Our server, however, was totally unattentive and kind of turned the experience into a bad one. We sat at our table FOREVER waiting on her to come around to bring our check, and then again waiting on her to run our cards. She didn't thank us for our patience, or apologize for the wait, she just kept smiling like everything was fine, and that was totally annoying.

Definitely Over-rated

I have to say that I was rather disappointed with Cafe Sunflower in almost all respects. The staff is very friendly, but unfortunately, that is the only positive comment I have. The venue itself is not too bad, but it is rather small. The food leave much to be desired. The menu does a great job in overselling the actual items. My wife and I had appetizers, dinner and dessert, and I would say that neither of us enjoyed any of the courses. The food is very bland and rather tasteless. I have had much better vegetarian food for much less cost.

Delicious!

I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Sunflower last week. The food was exceptional. It's such a nice change from come of the other vegetarian food in this city which is too heavily reliant upon deep friend textured vegetable protein and lots of sauce. The chefs at Sunflower value the tastes and textures of vegetables and feature dishes that are reliant upon the freshness and quality of well-picked produce. I had the Vegan Lasagne and my friend had the Summer Quinoa. Mine was the superior of the two.

• Pros: Great food, competant attractive service, atmosphere, vegan options, desserts and wine list
• Cons: A little expensive for dinners, though lunch is fairly priced...

Avoid! You Will Be Sorry! Expensive For Just Vegetables!

This little spot at Brookwood Square, has a great sounding menu. Don't let the interior of this spot turn you off, the food will do that. The menu sounds so promising, tasty, and creative. But what arrives is tasteless, and a very small portion. Atlanta does have good Vegetarian options, like the one nearby, that's open 24hrs. Little Five Points area is very good also. But some of the Thai and Mexican options, will easily do the trick. The owner has an attitude, so beware!

Atlanta could do better

Cafe Sunflower's position as top vegetarian in town can be chalked up to the lack of serious competition. The food is heavily oversold by the menu - descriptions seldom match the actual dish - and ridiculously overpriced for weak imitations of Cali cuisine and basic offerings from standard veggie cookbooks. The interior is in serious need of a makeover - think backstage at a high school theatre - and service is polite but unreliable. Verdict: Don't encourage them. Patronize a non-veggie restaurant and get the best veggie dish on the menu - you'll be happier and you'll be voting for more mainstream veggie fare.

• Cons: Food is not worth the price

Great food!

They're fajitas and veggie burgers are amazing! My friend often calls and puts in the order and goes to pick it up. However, they do close at 2:30 and open back up again around 5:30? and they can be an inconvience, but the food is definitely worth it!

You'll like this even if you arent a Vegetarian

Went here with 7 other people on a weekday. It was empty when we arrived at 7, but it soon filled up. Plenty of different choices on the menu. I had the burrito which was the cheapest entre at $9 but it was more then I could eat and thats saying a lot. Everyones portion was quite large. I will definitely be coming back here to try the other items on the menu.

• Cons: Outdoor seating is on the sidewalk and not a patio

A global village veg-out out in Buckhead.

The Scene
Patronized by many vegetarians, vegans and non-vegetarians too, soft-spoken Cafe Sunflower claims its place in Buckhead with thoughtful, decorator-magazine touches and warm, hazily filtered light. The mood here runs from fresh-scrubbed earnestness to happy serenity. And the staff seems to be uniformly fit, attractive and in a really good mood.

The Food
Well seasoned and well executed, with no big disappointments--but no fireworks either. Broadly accessible Italian, Asian and Southwestern dishes predominate, with the Asian specialties definitely showing a defter, more practiced hand. The kitchen thrives on a sophisticated respect for textures and the exciting properties of ingredients, although it occasionally goes overboard.

I was scared, but now I see.

As a huge advocate of meat in all of its glory, I was a bit hesitant to try this place out, but somehow my new roommate convinced me to go (though I really didn't put up a fight). Turns out that the food and ambience was more than I expected. The music isn't really loud, and it's a nice, chill place to come relax and have good food. Our server wasn't absolutely wonderful, but still quick with service. The food I thought seemed overprice, but you get a lot of food. The raspberry chocolate mousse is not be missed, either.
