over rated pub grub
by Atownconnoisseur
the place was a typical sports bar. the parking is misleading ( rear entrance?) and some items like the "mash potatoes covered in cheese AKA the mashed potato casserole. and small portions at that. plus 1.50 charge Not Worth It! The service was medioker and the server had to look at the menu board to tell us the soup of the day. Rookie anyways if you like beer, tvs and love mashed potatoes this is your place.
- Pros: good fish and burgers
- Cons: small portions,
Great service and food
by scottr66
I had heard it was slow, but I just went to C.City Tavern for lunch, got there around 1:15, and got out around 2. The service was great, and the waiter gave us to-go cups, and we did not ask for them. He was very quick, and on top of everything we needed. It was very empty, but nonetheless the food was good, and the server did not choose to just be lazy, he was on top of everything, including splitting the check, when we had not even requested that.
We will definitely go back.
- Pros: Service was great.
- Cons: n/a
yuck!
by kadupo
i found the staff to be arrogant when I complained about something bad about the food. their attitude was "we don't need your business"! the food was BAD for 2 out of 4 at our table. better neighborhood bars can be found where you are more appreciated and taken care of better. good luck and good riddance!
- Pros: who can screw up beer?
- Cons: absolutely rude staff!
This casual bar straddles the Buckhead, Midtown divide and also lures with a great patio.

The Scene
With inexpensive grub and drinks, and an abundance of TVs, Central City attracts crowds of college-aged drinking buddies and large after-work get-togethers. Lines form for pool and darts, and during the warmer months the charming two-level patio overlooking Peachtree Road fills quickly with people-watchers and summer revelers.
The Draw
With no frills or fancy food, this place doesn't aim to be anything more than a friendly, down-to-earth hangout. Kick back with a cold one, or challenge the next table to a darts tournament. Televisions serve up ample sports entertainment, but most patrons catch up with old friends, or make new ones.
Dirty Food
by Jasrcis
I ordered the worst salad ever! I could taste and see the dirt. This is the best restaurant for people who like dirty food.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: dirty food
Great Food
by BMWGS
This is a cool place to grab a beer and has great quality food for the money. I have had numerous dishes and have yet to be disappointed from the wings to the pasta. Highly recommend for food and a game. The bad side for the otherwise cool place is smoke. It seems it always has a very smoky crowd.
- Pros: Great Food
- Cons: Very Smoky Bar
Fun Neighborhood Joint To Hang!
by jaymaygm
At the intersection of Collier Rd. and P'tree, sits little Central City Tavern. It's a gathering place for all of us in S.Buckhead/Brookwood. Not fancy, not expensive, but a great place to just grab a cold one. Burgers are good, especially with a side of Tater Tots, and if you don't know what they are, just order boring fries. This time of year, the upper outside deck is great. Especially during rush hour, you can just dart in, and wait for the traffic to die down. Most of us in the hood, just walk over, and it comes in handy, if you've had one too many. During football season, there is always a warm homemade soup, and a hearty made chili. Almost everyone will know your name, especially the big guy behind the bar, his name is "Mule". Many a drunk female patron, late at night, always asks, why do they call you Mule? At that point, we are all in the floor, just laughing. Grab a cold one here!
- Pros: Good Burgers, Cold One's, and Friendly People!
- Cons: Parking Can Be Tight! We Just Walk Over!
Best Bar in Town
by bartenderknowledge
If you're tired of all the other bars in Buckhead and Midtown, you want to check out Central City. A fun, easy going atmosphere, coupled with great food and strong drinks makes this place a 10 in my book. If you're looking for a place to kick back, relax, have a few drinks and listen to some good music, this is the place for you. The menu features everything from appetizers to pastas, and everything is made to order so none of that prepackaged stuff here. They also carry 2 homemade soups everyday of the week and they are open until 3:00am if you have the craving for a late snack! Valet parking takes the need for finding a parking space out of the picture, and the staff will give you the money back to you on your tab as soon as you walk in the door! Being a bartender myself, I appreciate a place with a wide selection of beer and wine, and this place has it all. In addition to the great drink selection, CCT offers a curtious and knowledgable bar staff that knows you by name, and will remember your beverage of choice the next time you come in. This is a smoking bar, but they do offer a non smoking section and also a two level patio for warm weather fun and people watching on Peachtree. If you can not tell by my review, I think very highly of this place, and I would recommend for anyone who likes having a good time.
- Pros: Love the bartenders! They are extremly friendly, and know how to treat customers.
Good food ... good beer ... good service ... great atmosphere ... however DO NOT forget to tip your waitress!
by atliens
This place is a pretty cool place to go and hang out; Thursdays is Trivia night and there is even valet parking for your convenience! Costs $3.00 however, the Central City Tavern is gracious enough to give you a $3 coupon off of your tab too. The deal is though, you need to make sure that you tip your waiter/waitress pre-discounts or else you might get confronted by your server. I really hope that this was just a onetime occurrence for us, but it was definitely embarrassing because we thought we had left her more than enough. In the end it all worked out after my boss handed her an additional $20 outside of the restaurant. Hopefully they will print on the coupons next time to tip before discounts rather than hunting down their customers as they walk out the door.
- Pros: convenient location, valet parking, decent selection of beer
- Cons: potentially hostile environment
Best margaritas and bloody marys in town
by cindyljones
If you get a little, or very, tired of the uptight midtown/buckhead scene... try this place. Nice servers, talented bartenders and fantastic chicken salad sandwiches (in case you can't handle a great burger). The best daytime cocktails around - bloody marys and margaritas. Plus, you can always get your beer. I look forward to nice weather just to go sit on the porch and take in all the Peachtree traffic that I don't have to be in at that moment...
