Blah food
by swixie
The restaurant is very crowded and the food is extremely blah. I would not go back her again. The salsa was so spicy I couldn't eat it, and the food was like slop on a plate
Don't waste your money

What a terrible experience. Don't plan on conversing with anyone it is so load in there. Our waitress was sexist and would only talk to my boyfriend. My margarita came and it was filled with ice, there was maybe 3 oz of liquid in there and it wasn't good. The food is expensive and nothing to write home about. I was charged .65 cents for something I don't even know and $ 1.75 for sour cream that was supposed to come with the dinner. We just wanted to get out of there. There are plenty of great Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, do not go to this one. Also, My stomach still hurts from dinner !!!!
- Pros: Good Location
- Cons: Everything
Truly best mexican!
by mexicanfeaster
Let me start off by saying that I love this place. I've been coming for years and although the staff has changed a little bit, as any other restaurant overtime, I still feel at home. Whenever a manager, host, or bartender recognizes me they ask how things are going and remind me of our previous conversation. As for the food, I always try the specials. It allows me to try mexican food in ways I would never think of. I just had Salmon in a tequila cream sauce. It was nothing short of AMAZING! Oh, and I can't forget about going to the bar for a drink. The bartenders at Casa Grande are quite the studs and are always up for a little sports talk while watching the game on their HD tv. They seem to be quite the lady charmers as well! For a great all-around experience at lunch, dinner, or even take-out think Uncle Julio's Casa Grande!
- Pros: great off menu specials and excellent house margarita
- Cons: getting a newer server could make or break your experience
Deeply disappointing

A friend and I chose Uncle Julio's for dinner after seeing it in the Best of Citysearch for Mexican. Man, were we fooled. Our experience was anything BUT "Best of." From start to finish, it was a lackluster meal.
The chips and salsa arrived immediately. Unfortunately, the salsa was awful. It had no flavor, and it was easily the worst "salsa" I had ever tasted. I asked both our server and the manager about it. The manager explained that they had to make a new batch part way through the evening. If I were the manager, I would have been embarrassed to serve it to customers.
Next, our entrees arrived within a reasonable amount of time, but my enchiladas were slightly warm at best. I should have known better when the plate reached the table, and I noticed the cheese atop the enchiladas was only half-melted. When I took my first bite, I encountered red sauce that was room temperature and chicken that was not hot at all. Fortunately, our server obliged me and had the enchiladas remade for me. About 15 minutes later, the manager brought out a new plate for me. This time they were hotter, but too bad my friend had already finished his meal.
I finished my enchiladas, and we asked for our check right away. By that time, we just wanted to put the experience behind us. Needless to say, we have no intention of returning to Uncle Julio's Casa Grande. There are way too many great Mexican restaurants in our city to waste time with mediocre ones.
- Pros: Valet parking, quick service
- Cons: Pricey menu; mass-produced meals lack flavor & quality
One of the Best in Atlanta
by mbrodale
This restaurant is a great place to go for a night out with your friends. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere, and the servers are wonderful. I would highly recommend the tamales as an appetizer and a "swirl" to drink. Be careful - the "swirl" is a toxic combination of a frozen margarita and homemade sangria - but it is to die for! For your meal, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I have ordered almost everything at some point or another, and I have NEVER been disappointed. If the weather permits, enjoy your meal outside on the patio. Pricing is reasonable. If you're planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night, you may want to call and make reservations. This place gets very busy on the weekends.
- Pros: food and drinks
- Cons: gets very busy and can be hard to get a table if you don't plan in advance (especially for large parties)
Alternative Crowd
by amunson78
I went to Casa Grande about a year ago and remember the food as being very good to excellent. I went back there last Friday, and found it to be extremely crowded with an alternative lifestyle crowd. There was a 10-1 guy-to-girl ratio, if you get my drift. This is not meant to be judgemental, just thought that potential patrons would want to know.
- Pros: Good Food
- Cons: Atmosphere, Crowd

Trendy Atomosphere inside, cool balcony seating outside
by lwatters
Hola!!!! Its CInco De Mayo! The atmosphere was inviting inside. The bar located at the entrance created an aluring people watching venue, a buzz with laughter and playful conversation. Eclectic. We were told our wait would be thirty minutes. It ended up being much sooner. The homemade salsa was spicy, the chips were crunchy and salty, great soft tortilla's. Fantastic guacamole. It was very reminiscent of an authentic mexican meal. Great wait staff was attentive but not annoying. Would definitely come back on any night.
- Pros: food, ambience, balcony
- Cons: price
SMOKIN' SALSA
by mandieluck
I went during lunch on a holiday (President's Day). The place was practically desserted, but that didn't bother me. It simply meant I would get seating that much quicker!
The chips and salsa were awesome. I could have eaten the smoky salsa as a soup alone -- it was just that good. I ordered soft chicken (grilled) tacos which came with fresh fruit and sweet cream. My lunch date ordered the steak fajitas. My tacos were slammin'. The sweet cream was not overy sugary. The extra side of beans I ordered were great as well. Lunch dates fajita's were smaller than we typically see but the guacamole and tortilla's tasted homemade.
Main complaint? Insanely loud considering there were only possibly ten customers in the restaurant. Also, I am not a huge meat eater so I was terribly disappointed in the total lack of vegetarian options.
All in all, I will definately return knowing they do not offer mojito's, my favorite mexican beer and I have to come ready to bite into flesh. *-D
- Pros: Fabulous grill flavor on vegetables and entre's
- Cons: Too loud; Lack of Vegetarian Options
